Have you tried to use paper napkins instead of tissue paper? You split the napkin into layers then use it like the tissue. Depending on the pattern, it can have a simple design or be a picture ready for embellishment. Also if you tear the papers you get a softer edge. Think about all the Barbie napkins that are out there. There are so many color choices and holiday/party themes available.
