They did fight in North Africa with British pilots, likely better fliers than the Americans, and they were no match against 109e's. P40 is my favorite allied fighter, but it was outmatched by both German and Japanese fighters.

@@theflashplays3972 Best example, the movie Fury. I mean ... five tanker men on a broken down tank against 300 SS soldiers? SS! The most battle hardened, well trained and experienced soldiers in the German army! And they lost like half their men against five Americans? It was a good movie until the final battle.
The Warhawk that should've been! Awesome vid though!

Good graphics, but whoever put this together should have done some research first. Late model 109’s against P40’s? The P40 was fighting in the Pacific theatre and would never have been a match for the 109 if they fought.
They did fight in North Africa with British pilots, likely better fliers than the Americans, and they were no match against 109e's. P40 is my favorite allied fighter, but it was outmatched by both German and Japanese fighters.
Those were 51's I think. The 40's were stubbier looking, the P-51 did fight in the European theatre, but not as much as Pacific, and it would make sense to be a 51, because the 51's were escorts for the bombers. The 51 would have also beaten the shit out of the 109's, no comparison.
These scenes are probably from the Red tails movie.
@@robdog1245 nah those are 100% P40
They look like p-40s but they would never have been used for escort duty over Germany against the later model 109s and 190s.

To all those who doubt the authenticity of the manuever he pulls at 2:58, I can't stress this enough. It was ACTUALLY pulled off by a P-51 pilot in WWII. Granted, he wasn't from the 332nd, but he was from the 352nd(The Blue-Nosed Bastards Of Bodney) His name was Don Bryan and he called the manuever the "Inverted Vertical Reversal"

"I'm a P-51 you son of a gun, I gotta V12 rolls just for fun.....and a P38 on my right if thing's get tight, just to see my baby tonight"! GBA
No. The P-51 got a Rolls Royce engine to be more competitive with the German aircraft. P-38s were used as long range bomber escorts, and weren't particularly great at fighter on fighter combat. You can't see your "baby" when you're over a thousand km away from your home country. Why is this propaganda still being spread?
1:54 to 1:57 Best dogfight maneuver ever it doesn't obeys the laws of physics
Just no comment.....
Nah, the hammerhead, for instance, is an arguably cooler maneuver, and one that can actually be done. An example would be the one seen midway through the War Thunder "Victory is Ours" trailer.
Fun fact: there actually was a Mustang pilot who preformed an angled flat spin on a yellow nosed ME 109 and actually shot it down

Me-109 was the shark of the skies, it shot down hundreds of allied aircraft. Yet they always lose in the movies, the allies should accept reality.

Everyone's an armchair general when it comes to the BF109 pulling that reversal, but what's really funny is the fact it was done in real life by an American Pilot. Of course, it's way funnier to complain about physics when all they ever learned it from was War Thunder.
