After watching this video, I think my house needs more fire detection

I stayed at a holiday home and there were bases for three detectors, one in the kitchen/living room area, one in the downstairs hallway area and one in the upstairs hallway. However, only the upstairs hallway actually had a detector in place, the other two had been removed from the house. I think the owners did this because they didn't want false alarms from people smoking, but come on, seriously? That's ridiculous.

We had this with our back extension when built no smoke detector installed in new extension which baffled me as it connects to kitchen and the extension because the new living room whilst the kitchen has heat front lobby has smoke but its a long way for smoke to travel before activating so was really surprised it passed

This is exactly what I do when I stay away. Did you spot any fire extinguishes or blankets in the kitchen?

Matthew Jones yep. Unfortunately I believe alot of these holiday homes are treated as private homes and fire safety and electrical safety responsibility are not met. Lack of education perhaps.

and bedrooms is a high fire risk to smokers as if they smoke in bed and fall asleep and drop in onto the carpet when its lit can set the carpet alight, and reseachers state that children when they are asleep the cant hear and wake up to a sounding smoke alarm and children have actuarlly died in fires due to not waking up by a smoke alarm, and i pat test mostly everything what needs it as i have dont training in pat testing. I have done my fire saftey training aswell and this is unacceptable, comon landlord not enough fire detection and why on earth would you put a fire extingushire in a copboard! if there was a fire and you needed to fight it you wont think to check in a bloody copboard!

the walkie talkie reviews I stayed in a hotel once when there was a false alarm at 3am in the morning. It took a lot to wake me up from a deep sleep! It is vital to have the right decibels from the alarms

@@DanstheEngineer I stayed in a hotel once and the fire alarm went off at like 4am and I woke up but only because I am very sensitive to noise but it only went off for like 30 seconds and we just went back to sleep and it was fine. I really wonder why it went off though
