    Dan, did you have to get BSI ISO9001 done first for BAFE?

    Great shared knowledge and experience as always Dan. Really enjoy following your journey so far.
    In a similar boat starting up but without the network you have at the moment. Taking this quiet time as the opportunity to engage with others.

      Thanks man. Awesome. It is an interesting time to start but this down time is definitely good to make use of as everything is slower than usual. I wish you the best mate

    Hi Dan, how did you manage to become accredited with BAFE before joining one of the other UKCAS schemes like NICEIC for example? I plan to become BAFE accredited but the NICEIC said I would have to be an approved contractor with them before I join the BAFE scheme.

    • @DanstheEngineer
      @DanstheEngineer  9 месяцев назад

      There is no requirement to be NICEIC Approved to obtain BAFE SP203-1 3rd party certification. Therefore, I would not take the advice allegedly the NICEIC have given you. It is best to speak to the SSAIB or NSI and ask the process as they are the auditors.

    Nice insight Dan, rams-app uk is an excellent web based software for producing detailed risk and method statements. Worth taking a look. Very reasonably priced too.

    Great video Dan, I am looking at going BAFE so more on that would be great! Have you looked at Amtech Trimble Fast test. We have used it for a while now.

      I'll explain more about BAFE fire alarm accreditation in a dedicated video and there will be some good pointers into how this can also be adapted to electrical businesses.

    Vespula is just dont click for me, Electraform online only as you said and there just something i dont like about them, NAPIT desktop is terrible and they should be ashamed they charge for it, ElectricalOM has certs now although i havent played around with them yet, its honestly hard to beat EasyCert, works on desktop or mobile no internet connection needed simple to use but the licencing if you need multiple users can get expensive.

    • @shaunsparky5354
      @shaunsparky5354 4 года назад +1

      Agreed on Napit Desktop, I like Electraform BUT 'Live' internet connection is an issue. I have not tried Vespula, however, I like the idea the its offline capability.

      I'm yet to try Napit Desktop. I have been offered a trial but haven't got round to it. I liked the Clik Software but can be a faff organising the certs. I will decide at some point. Thanks for the input.

      @@shaunsparky5354 yes mate the Vespula offline function is pretty good providing you access it whilst it is live.

    I use iCertifi, it looks good and easy to use. Can also complete offline and email once you get a connection. Can’t comment on how it compares to others though....

      Hi Alan I have a question on sprinkler systems? Who's responsibility is it primarily that a sprinkler system is correctly interfaces into a fire system? Because everytime I have to meet a sprinkler engineer to interface my fire alarm into its always a plumber with little electrical knowledge who generally does not have a clue how to link the system up he just relies on me surely there should be a guy on the sprinkler side competent to confirm everything ??

    • @alanbeattie1931
      @alanbeattie1931 4 года назад

      red pill logic hi there, it all depends what’s been contracted for and what exclusions are noted but in the main, the sprinkler installers are mechanically biased and will provide the alarm device only as part of the trim to the alarm valve or a flow switch device on let’s say a zone or floor. When it comes to commissioning it’s usually a mutual agreement that both contractors would be present to ensure the client gets a fully operational system as there can be instances of a faulty device that you are trying to interface with. You mentioned plumber in your question so I am assuming that you are working on domestic or residential buildings in the UK. More and more plumbers are attempting to break into the domestic & residential sprinkler market but probably haven’t got a greater understanding on the precise nature of our work or appreciation of what’s really involved. Hope that helps and good luck.

    Hi Dan, congratz on the BAFE accreditation! Just taken a look at your website and loving the design, but when you navigate from your main page to your services page for example, your logo is not visible at the top left until you scroll down. Hope this helps.
