【Introduction】When Shi Yi (Played by Bai Lu), a sweet, low-key but talented voice actress, meets the elegant Zhou Shengchen (Played by Allen Ren), an oversea returnee chemistry professor, at the airport for the first time, they felt a sense of familiarity. You can understand what happened better in the book. Here the director somehow didn't elaborate things, some scenes seems to be not connected with the next events, as if there are at least few minutes scenes were cut anyhow.
Few scenes are misunderstood by audiences because it's not clearly elaborated.

This is an interesting drama, but there are a lot of unnecessary scenes between Shi Yi and Chen. I think the scriptwriter simply followed the novel and didn't know how to recreate the story cinematically.

The director is really obsessed with the rich family rituals and the aesthetics. He glosses over the plot and it's actually really mundane. You're just supposed to KNOW that the bad people did bad things.
