I wonder how much it would cost and who might offer such a thing?
Honestly captivating how you treat this subject like a scientist trying to break down the fiction and think about a real life possibility to make this process
One of the things I love about halo is the application of theoretical technologies that are well outside of the franchise that it just appropriates in new and plausible ways, particularly spartan/transhumanist augmentations. Great video as always.
The method for the Spartan 3's where the retina is inverted would likely have a period of time where they would need to learn how to see again properly unless every single rod and cone was positioned in exactly the same place, due to how each portion of the retina is mapped in the brain. That being said, the neural interface could be used to accelerate or completely negate this given that AI's interfacing with Spartans are able to receive sensory input.
As it turns out, we have the proteins that would allow us to 'see' magnetic fields, but they're deactivated for some reason. Also, an injection can activate the ability to see into the near-infrared.
The retina is at the back of the eye, so they shouldn’t need to cut into the back of the head to access the retina. I think what Halsey was describing is some two part procedure involving eye surgery (retina) and brain surgery (occipital lobe)
I read a paper years ago theorising that Van Gogh had eye damage that allowed him to see ultraviolet light. Basically it said that it influenced his art, gave him great night vision and was ultimately what sent him over the edge (because the light would still be bright even when closing his eyes, sleep deprivation). The bionic eyes sound way better assuming you can tune the visual spectrum they can see.
This is really cool. We should as a community settle on a gallery of possible lore paths for Halo. I don’t know how we’d go about that, but it should be a community project and organized well. We’re gonna have to stick our fingers and arms in the holes of this ship until we get the right sailors.
With regards to the S2 augmentation, I don't think the iris color change is an accident or just a 'byproduct' of the procedure. By lightening the color of the iris it allows even more light to come through, as light also comes through the iris not just the pupil, that's why people with lighter eye colors are more sensitive to light, especially sun light, compared to those with dark eye colors. I think this is the first time, for this comparison series, I would pick the S4 augmentation.
i wonder if the eye and bone augmentations for the s-3s hint at a different explaination from what youve said so far. maybe those grugs, the eye inversion stabilizer and the bone catalyst drugs are additional augmentations the s-3s got ALONGSIDE what the s-2's had. so potentially the s-3s had the same bone and eye augmentations as the s-2's, but with the additional drugs being solely used to mitigate side effects that led to the s-2 failure rate.
Very good video ! But I have a question concerning the video of Warthog most detailed breakdown, the quality for this video is 360p or 1080p (premium debit), no 480p, 720p, or normal debit1080p, is that normal ?
My Canon is that the S2’s actually received ALL of these Augments later on as they became available. Re-Augmenting them again and again to make sure that the premier Counter-Insurgency and Counter-Extraterrestrial Force’s are in peak physical condition and able to fight with the latest and greatest tech advances for UNSC Forces. S3 Aug’s would give them bones now effectively just made of organically integrated titanium underneath their previously existing bone Aug’s, brain and nerve Aug’s to increase the efficiency of their nerve conductivity, muscle Aug’s allowing them to become even stronger with a still more rapid regen of their tissues, likely something effecting a futuristic advancement in cochlear implants, and eye upgrades still increasing their visual acuity. S4’s would’ve been doing much the same, but this time would’ve been just more comprehensive with upgraded intestinal function, better kidneys, heart upgrades, etc. Installation technically already said something close to this previously, but it seems well reasoned. If the 3’s and 4’s Aug’s could be altered and tailored to suit the individual needs of their recipient, essentially just targeting the individual’s needs based on their medical history, you could possibly reverse any issues an s2 may have dealt with as the result of 30ish years of straight combat.
I think in this case, the ideal would be a combo of the 3 and 4 upgrades, since i dony see a reason that the upgrade given to the 4s cant be applied ontop of that given to the 2s and 3s, thus providing compiunding visusl improvements
I wonder if all Spartans after the war got the Spartan III eye upgrades. Not having a blind spot would be fantastic especially considering that Spartans spend so much time in close quarters.
Retinal detachment isn't always permanent, but your vision won't ever be 100% again. That being said, being 50% worse than a spartan's vision is probably still well ahead or regular human vision
Given that flash cloning of individuals and organs is a thing, I am surprised that using custom grown, optimized eyeballs isn't the usual method. Inverting retinas and altering complex brain tissue in situ seems like an unnecessary risk when a potentially very simple nerve graft could be done.
The one i would be most comfortable with is the 4's augmentation. The one i would want though is the 3's, i know i dont get the extra spectrums of light, but i would be wary of tech that may too fragile to some things than my organic eye would be To quote Mendez. "Machines break. Eyes dont"
an interesting detail that brings an immediate question to my mind. the spartan 3 augmentation was stated to have a melanin removal effect with the intended result most likely allowing for more light to filter past the Iris to achieve some sort of enhanced night vision. how would they stop the draining process to achieve that deep blue color rather than it naturally becoming a form of red type albinism in the eyes? There is also the risk of the same chemical bleeding out into the rest of the body through the otherwise punctured or associated blood vessels inducing a similiar effect on other body parts that utilize melanin. its a non lethal side effect but a certainly amusing one in that the most common issue with the earliest spartan 3s in the first batch could be turned into Albinos before the control measures and dosage of the chemical solution were optimized.
Hello @Installation00 I think the Spartan II Eye Augmentation (which i still not fully understand in function) seems to me the least of the three that i would want to use. The Augmentation of the Spartan III and IV ´s are both i think 100% succesful (at least that was said in the Lore). Yeah this is the first time I would say Spartan 4 so far. But I feel we just don't know enough to really say which is best. I will bring up again that I would like to see what would work well stacked. I feel like these augmentations in particular could do well since they are achieved in VERY different ways. I feel a lense could easily be added to both the other generations and would be suprised if they were not.
Having already had LASIK, I think I'd just go with the SPARTAN-IVs on this one. My vision was bad enough that faces were blurry from 3 ft (1m) away and I was basically useless without my glasses or contacts. My life was changed for the better, literally the best decision I've made. If I could get SPARTAN-IV eye augmentations and it's only as tedious as getting LASIK again, then I'd 100% definitely go for it (assuming I don't have to pay $3000 again lol).
Yes but Spartan-IV’s have a tendency to not have their helmet on, like Gabriel Thorne in Spartan Ops, and end up in combat situations, so for the IV’s it would be necessary but for the II’s and III’s it wouldn’t because of the fact their superior augmentations would allow them to be able to protect their helmets better and they almost always wear their helmets wherever they go especially the II’s
For the previous videos, I usually go with the S-III augments because they seem to be on par with the S-II augments but with little to no risk of failure (or at least less chances for things to go wrong) and with usually far less invasive procedures. Meanwhile the S-IV augments tend to be kinda meh when compared to the abilities of the other Spartan generations. This is the first time I would rather opt for the S-IV augment given it's not only less disturbing/invasive but that it's quality is actually decent enough as compared to the other Spartan generations. (That and I half blame that sudden surgery clip appearing while I was eating...)
Sounds like at least in theory, all 3 procedures could be performed on an individual patient that could yield some absolutely incredible results, though at some stage there would have to be diminishing returns
The question I want answered pertains to the offspring of Orion candidates. How receptive to each Spartan augmentation sets would they be, considering they are born with certain genetic traits from Orion.
wonder why the lense wouldnt be made transparent to the range of ultraviolet normally blocked by our natural lense that we can detect. Honestly I'd go for the Spartan III modification and have the Spartan 4 done at the same time since they're in my eyes anyway.
Spartan IV honestly. I'd love to know though if there's something that could correct light sensitivity to bright light though as I came down with it from a car accident were I ended up with two skull fractures above my right eye on my forehead, multiple facial fractures from orbital eye socket from the lower side down to my upper jaw.
i think a combo of 3 and 4's would be the best so long as the drugs for the 3's takes care of that pesky "11% eye part of brain turning to soup" thing.
So...why not both? 4's seem like there is negligible risk, so if you can survive a 2's augmentation to become "naturally" better, what would the additional upgrade with the 4's do for enhancement?
So look at photonic ships and maybe think with me for a sec. Use neuralink plus photonic chip and run synchron mesh technology through the veins and maybe have some electrodes so the quantum calculations can be faster than the nervous system. Not hard because quantumly entangled bits share no matter the distance.
So they want supersoldiers and you can get blind or die painfully during all this augmentations, even if you survive it must be horrible pain getting through all this... Scary

The question I want answered pertains to the offspring of Orion candidates. How receptive to each Spartan augmentation sets would they be, considering they are born with certain genetic traits from Orion.
Another Great video 📷 look forward to many more
Got a question, has 343/Microsoft abandoned the Halo infinite story arc entirely? (Soft reset)
wonder why the lense wouldnt be made transparent to the range of ultraviolet normally blocked by our natural lense that we can detect.
Honestly I'd go for the Spartan III modification and have the Spartan 4 done at the same time since they're in my eyes anyway.
What would happen if a Spartan II were to get the Spartan IV Augmentation later in their career?
I would need a proceedure that replaces my retinas entirely.
Was not expecting to see a skull being opened while I sit on the toilet, but okay here we are.
Is the crappy helmet lights are for the non-augmented that's hanging around the spartan in the dark?
From. What I got couldn't you do 2 or 3 and 4?
i think a combo of 3 and 4's would be the best so long as the drugs for the 3's takes care of that pesky "11% eye part of brain turning to soup" thing.
Can I have options 2 and 3.
If your eyes go from brown to blue, then they weren't diluted. They were purified.
So...why not both? 4's seem like there is negligible risk, so if you can survive a 2's augmentation to become "naturally" better, what would the additional upgrade with the 4's do for enhancement?
Could you make a video on how you think a unarmed fight would go for fred vs atriox
Now we need a spartan with all 3 augments.
I would want the 4's otherwise.
So look at photonic ships and maybe think with me for a sec. Use neuralink plus photonic chip and run synchron mesh technology through the veins and maybe have some electrodes so the quantum calculations can be faster than the nervous system. Not hard because quantumly entangled bits share no matter the distance.
Can I double up and go with S3 and S4?
"No invasive surgery" Just a little blade cutting into the cornea lol. Nah I jest, but the thought is unpleasant.
What would happen if a Spartan got all three eye augmentation?
Hey Installation00, I have a video suggestion for you.
Very unrelated question to this video- What is the music used in the intro? Is it from the games or was it made for your channel?
So they want supersoldiers and you can get blind or die painfully during all this augmentations, even if you survive it must be horrible pain getting through all this... Scary
If I could only pick one I would take Spartan 4 augmentation if I could pick two I would take three and four
I decided to watch this while eating... The start was just... :V
XD
hahahahah
Lieutenant Legolas, what do your Spartan eyes see?
A warning for the surgery footage would've been cool, 00 lol
Spartan 3 augmentation for me thx. I want to be a cephalopod please!
If II's eyes are so good, why'd he need a flashlight?
I would kill for the chance to have my eyes that powerful. I want surgery but my insurance don't.
If they go blind couldn't they flash clone eyes the way they did other organs and get them new eyes
Hey quick tip for future reference maybe either don't use graphic surgery footage or put up a warning before using it
Hot-Take: Installation00 is paying people off to get them to unsubscribe.
How else do you explain this channel not having millions of subs, HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?
Day one player
Strangely, I'm someone who hates pills and other perfectly safe chemical supplements/drugs, yet I would absolutely undergo spartan augmentations in a heartbeat. If this shit ever becomes feasible, catch me as the first to invest my life savings
