And Americans are always down for a good fight as evidenced by the wars we beat you in and then saved your British butts in. So good for him and I've got nothing but respect for andretti. Gotta drive whatever it takes
Why would we let F1 makes millions off the American fan base, and let all the European car manufactures make billions in our country, then have them turn around and spit in the face of our largest auto manufacturer and America's most prized racing family? I can't help but feel the F1 grid and European manufacturers are a bit scared of American race engineering on the track and in market share lol. Thou doth protest too much.

Agreed. And rightly so. GM is a BIG player. And F1 should not be a Euro/UK only sport. At some point i also expect a Chinese team to apply for F1 ( the Chinese car industry is HUGE! So they deserve to compete in F1)
I’m American and this situation makes me laugh cause wasn’t Haas in trouble for sanctions? That said Andretti itself was getting bullied to begin with cause the whole project. “ you need to update your facility” than Andretti built two state of the art facilities one in the motorsport valley of open wheel racing in USA and the other is at THE motorsport valley of the UK .” You don’t bring a manufacturer” than brings in GM as a technical partnership. “ they’re a glorified sponsor, we need you to build a in house engine rather than rebadging a Renault PU as Cadillac “ than they announce to join Audi in 2026 as an actual PU manufacturer. “ you don’t even have a car designed “ than release a design and promise to build it by the end of this year. It’s not even moving the goal post at this point, it’s throwing the goal post out at the parking lot.
Nobody is afraid of Andretti being competitive cos all teams know how much research and development with the best engineers it takes to get a competitive car…it takes years.. Only US fans think it’s a spec series like Indycar and expect Andretti to be competitive 😂
@@Redlingstein bro i've seen you hate on andretti on every single co,ment reply in every video about andretti i've ever seen how do you have that much hate against a team not even in f1 yet
@Redlingstein have you never seen how mercedes got soo competive so fast they started designing that car in 08 and managed to win a world championship in less then 4 years if they get it right with the new regulations they could easily be in the midfield especially if there's no cost cap if they aren't a team yet
@@yt.personal.identification F1 was started by "privateers". The only thing now is Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Alpha Romeo, and Alpine, are the only "factory" teams. All others are basically privateers. There are only a few engine manufacturers. Red Bull builds there own since Honda pulled out. Ferrari, Mercedes, and Renault, build the others.
*LawVS:* “Given what’s going on in the world, surely there’s more pressing matters for the United States Congress to deal with, than allowing a team to go racing…” *AMERICA:* “HA! Actually, no. That’s where you’re very wrong. The United States government would rather do literally ANYTHING than focus on whats actually important. This is a perfect issue for us to tackle”
100% addressing a real issue with real stakes put their political career on the line. Advocating for an american racing legend & american industry is an easy PR win.
It wasnt all that many years ago when the US federal government was the majority shareholder of GM, so the federal govt does indeed have an interest in this matter.
@windrose5988 GM is also a significant defense contractor and as a very major manufacturer, they would be an early shift to defense production at scale, should it, hopefully never, be needed. So yes, the GM - Gov't relationship is deep. Liberty Media is listening to the wrong whisperers on this one. Now, how to end this so everyone is a winner, without looking bad? Clock is ticking F1.
Would love to see Andretti as the 11th team, as an American I and many others would become new F1 fans. If not, I say F1 can bugger off and should be banned from US or TAXED out US!
I’m kind of happy for US Congress for calling out FOM for trying to have their cake and eat it. I’m interested to see how the crowd reacts to this in Miami as it could be quite telling from the fans perspective
@LawVS Maybe there’s no such thing as bad publicity in FOM’s mind. Either way I can’t see this helping their cause if it’s gone this high up the pecking order. Great video once again as always!
For me, and I think for andretti as well, it's less about being rejected, it's how dismissive and downright disrespectful they've been about the whole thing. "cartel-like" is sounding more and more accurate by the day.
F1: Hey USA, we want your money and we are going to give you 3 races a year now USA: Oh cool! Can we enter a competitive team with huge financial backing? F1: No! Don't be ridiculous!
I think this is the biggest reason why Congress is getting involved. Also its one of many things on their agenda its not like it takes up their entire focus, we had a whole UFO investigation going on not so long ago in Congress. Congress is looking at this because you have a US Media owned organization that is enriching only themselves and foreign owned franchises and then being anti-competitive by restricting an American owned franchise from participating. Liberty Media owns Live Nation which is already facing antitrust scrutiny. This just seems to be a further extension to that.
That is the ridiculous part. GM backing alone should be enough to get Andretti through the door. What's the hold-up here? American money is good enough but American teams aren't? F1 administration becomes more and more ridiculous every year
The Fact they said their name wouldn't "Bring any value to the sport" is such a big insult to the Andrettis too. Mario Andretti was prestigious during his time in F1 and he's been in so many sports afterwards too. The dude is a master behind the wheel in any car he can get in, and you can't say that to about anyone who has ever raced. If Andretti can get into F1 it would bring in loads if not more viewers to the sport especially more american viewers. Given the time needed to race and make adjustments and upgrades, Andretti can be a contender for the championship in F1
I am yet to see any good reason why Andretti should not be allowed to compete. They are a serious, well-resourced racing outfit and it would make a lot more sense to have them in than Haas and Alpine, for example. This private club nonsense needs to end. There is more than enough money to go round if that is what the other teams are worried about.
Well, IT IS a private club. You can throw all the tantrums you want, but you don't choose to be inducted in a private club. The club does. Besides, didn't you Americans have your own series...? Didn't you at some point call it "World Series"?
Oh and Andretti are competing in the Mighty V8 Supercars here in Oz, they are a large and talented racing Organisation, they race Camaros here…..a GM product.
F1 has never liked the American involvement in their series, and now another American team with an engine manufacturer are intruding into their profits and with ford coming into the picture with Redbull its totally freaking them out. Must be afraid of a little competition.
As an American racing fan, I've got to say that the European F1 execs have no clue as to how big a hornet's nest they're stirring-up! Mario Andretti isn't just a legendary driver, he's the closest thing in America to auto racing royalty. He, his family and his company have won at every level of the sport that they've ever tried their hand at, and GM is the largest US auto manufacturer and one of the largest in the world. When GM throws its weight around politicians of all stripes listen! When I was growing up it was common to hear, "as goes GM, so goes the nation." Meaning that when GM was doing well, so was the US economy. For GM to even commit the financial capital and engineering resources required to enter F1 after many decades of not showing any direct interest in motorsports, proves to me and many other Americans that they are extremely serious about this. They want to prove that their engineering is on par, if not better than the best in the world, and to use victories in F1 to sell cars in new markets and at home. As they say, "win on Sunday, sell on Monday." The legal fight that was started by AJ Foyt in the CART - Indycar split decades ago will look like a fly on a windscreen compared to what will happen here if F1 doesn't change its course. Not only can I see antitrust legislation introduced to break up F1, but I can also see this devolving into a trade war between the US and Europe. I can easily see American legislators deciding that if F1 won't allow an American team to compete fairly, then we'll place steep tariffs on the EU companies that are behind the F1 teams. I've seen tariffs placed on other imported items for more ridicules reasons! For example, we here in the US haven't been able to purchase a Toyota Hilux or any other small pickup manufactured outside of North America for over a generation, because of the "chicken tax." Since the mid 1960s a 25% tariff has been imposed on any light duty truck imported into the US from outside of North America. This tariff was originally levied in retaliation to European countries banning or placing tariffs on chicken exported from the US. To this day these light duty vehicles are not imported here because the added tariff would make them considerably more expensive than competing and even more upscale vehicles manufactured within North America. So my advice to F1 is to take heed. Andretti and GM aren't playing, and this could get ugly quickly!
As an American, man this is so funny. Even the part where you'd think we'd have more important things to focus on rather than sports. But i do want to say, in fairness, Its only 12 congressmen out of 500+ house reps and 100 senators. Its not like its on the entire governments focus.....yet
Its not just Andretti, GM is mobilizing their lobbyists in DC. I wouldn't be surprised if the inquiry would be spearheaded by the congressional and Senate delegations of Michigan and Indiana, the home states of GM and Andretti Global respectively.
Ive been an Indycar fan all my life and go to the Indy 500 every year. The Andretti name carries a lot of legacy in American motor sport. I'd say similar to Lauda or Marko in F1 or Earnhardt in NASCAR. It would be a shame for all racing fans if Andretti isn't allowed entry
OK SO The US Congress is involved for a couple of reasons, legitimate reasons, here. 1 - Fair access to markets. This looks *a lot* like F1 is denying Cadillac access because they're pissy about them selling Caddis again in Europe and teams like Merc, AM, Alpine, and Ferrari are blocking them to combat this. Those manufacturers largest market, by *far and away* is the US, you can damn well be sure the Americans are going to demand equal access to Europe. 2 - F1 does business in the US, if they do not have any *actual, legitimate, legal reason* for Andretti do not race, they're probably going to be in some hot water. The reality is that HAAS *continues to exist* and so long as they do, it's obvious F1 is playing favourites. 3 - US Automakers, specifically The General and FoMoCo are the most influential parts of US politics aside from Lockheed-Martin and Wall St. The Gist is that F1 hasn't played fair here and Andretti is done playing fair as well. They've jumped through literally every absurd hoop and got denied because...well they just don't like them very much. That's not good enough and now the Andretti's are throwing their weight around. Good on 'em.
The majority of this argument is undone by the fact that A) Haas' existence debunks the claim that FOM is against American teams, and B) the fact they openly encouraged GM to enter as a PU supplier independently from Andretti proves this conspiracy theory of manufacturers conspiring to keep GM uot of Europe… is utter nonsense.
Andretti didn't “go to Congress", he was interviewed by Martin Brundle on his grid walk and he Said that some Congresspeople invited him to discuss it. AFAIK, Liberty Media is an American company so anti-trust laws apply and even if they weren't, anti-trust still applies since they and F1 do business in the USA. Is team sports like American football, baseball etc get exemptions to antitrust because of tradition/practicality (you can't just have a random number of teams in a league) but that doesn't historically apply to racing. In racing, you show up with a legal car you get to race. Also, historically *that's how Formula 1 worked too*... This “franchise”/Concord business is not traditional... BTW, US courts have taken up sports issues before, for example in the America's Cup where have had cases specifically about who could or could not compete. So I always thought this could end up in courti just didn't think it would end up in politics.
Oh FYI the letter is legally required prior to USCON being able to subpoena all records from Liberty and then of course the public grilling in front committees.
I don't get why Liberty in particular are against it. They are trying to get a bigger foothold in the USA - Team Andretti should be given the red carpet treatment!
F1 wants American money but not American competition. Statistically GM is one of most successful manufacturer in motorsports history across many many different forms of motorsports. Trying to grow the American market with 3 races here now and then rejecting an American team after leading them on so far as to build the cars and buy everything to manufacture them makes no sense at all.
It’s pretty undeniable that Andretti joining as an 11th team will add value to F1 in my opinion. Makes no sense to deny them, just bitter owners who don’t want the risk of being outperformed by a new team.
F1 ran with more than 12 teams long before Horner , Wolf and co. 11 shouldn't be a problem. Just as Liberty could stand 3 fewer events. Red Bull is happy to receive Ford engines and Mercedes-Benz enjoys the US market.stuff like this is why the SCCA and The FIA remain separate. Besides I would love to see the Liberty boys having a chat in a congressional hot seat.
I think it makes sense to include the US government on Andretti's end when F1 is asking for money from the cities they're building races in, like Vegas contributed 40 million dollars, and F1 doesn't necessarily up tourism in the cities; they've built new street circuits/tracks. Like people (foreign or not) already go to Las Vegas and Miami a ton. If you want money from the American market, you should at least expect this level of entitlement; it's expected to have an actual American team that isn't Haas.
I think the entry was $10 million for the other 10 teams in F1 that Andretti had to pay to get in. That's $100 million for nothing for the other 10 teams. So what's the problem adding 1 more team, plus they all get to pocket $10 million a piece courtsey of Andretti Motorsports entry fee to join F1.
I love F1 for the technology and the racing. But! I’m really getting tired of the FIA and FOM playing politics and preferences towards one team or another. I’m beginning to lose interest in even watching the races anymore. It’s just not worth it anymore.
They want American fanbase support and all the big $ that comes with it... but they dont want a big, competent American team? What's the reason for this?
4:12 good. It *should* leave a sour taste in F1's mouth. Andretti did *eveything* required and got FIA approval, but F1 let the teams whine and moan to not bring in more comp. F1's business (and racing) reputation in america has taken a rather large hit these past couple of years. And insulting the andretti name seemed to be a lot of people's turning point. Case in point, F1 should be embarrassed they want American dollars, but not american teams. (Not to mention the anti-trust law questions obv)
I applaud Michael and Mario for doing the thing that wealthy, rich Americans do: bring in the court system! As an American, I am still pretty disgusted by this entire situation. Especially the quotes from Toto Wolff and the other team representatives around the grid. Proclaiming that Andretti is not a name/organization that can bring positivity to the sport is unbelievable fcked up. We have to understand, this is Andretti and fcking General Motors! Even attempting to make the excuse that this team isn't up to the standards for the expansion of the grid is pathetic and utterly stupid.
No offense taken. You're absolutely right! I'd love to feel like my country is truly represented in F1 and have a team to be proud of. I'll always be a Ferrari fanboy at heart, but I've grown up a GM fan, too.
Anti-Trust regulations in the US exist for this very reason, basically this law prevents any company from gaining a monopoly and if they do end up capturing the market, this law makes sure that they don’t exploit the consumer and the competition
@@thelazywanderer_jt Ever heard of Apple? Microsoft is far from a monopoly. Anti-capitalists throw that term too loosely without truly understanding what it means
@@mmwosu To play devils advocate here: the US has Indycar/NASCAR/Indy500 and maybe a couple of others I am not aware of. So if Apple counts as a counter to the Microsoft monopoly, would the existing racing already available not counter that F1 is a monopoly? While it is computing and sectors are comparable between Apple and Microsoft, you can argue that Apple does things very differently, so NASCAR not being the exact same as F1 (thank the heavens above...) is not going to hold either. Both have cars, both race. What is the monopoly problem here? Or is protecting your 'ecosystem' not valid once it comes to F1?
Something I would like to point out, the US government got involved in football (soccer) when they prosecuted FIFA because of corruption in 2015, although it was truly done for a different reason. It just comes to show that if the US government wants to get involved in sports somehow, they will especially if they want something to go their way. The fact that Liberty Media is based in the US is even more damning to them
Do you think the government might force Liberty Media to sell the series if they don't let Andretti in? Liberty Media is also buying MotoGP's commercial rights holder Dorna Sport, provided the European Commission green-lights the deal from an antitrust angle. Well, Liberty is technically "only" buying the 45% share of Dorna which was previously held by an investment fund, as opposed to buying all of Dorna.
@@johannessamuelsson6578I don't think it will get as far as forcing LM to sell the series but i can see alot of deal Lm is making in the US being affected because of the bad press. The worst case for Lm would be they don't allow andretti in, the government opening a anti trust cases against Lm so the lose the MotoGP deal
It is not crazy...it is about selling cars....and the blockage of the current teams companies from US shores is the real issue....no more Mercedes in the US? Possible...with a big tax that will dwarf F1 profits... They better let Andretti in, apologize, and get on with it or be aware they may be dissolved as a business and broken up, and even run by the USG for a period of time....to fix things. That would be frankly justice.
@@matthewfreear the American that owns the team is a former F1 champion, why not? There have been other Americans that have won GP's (even with cars they designed and built) ever heard of Dan Gurney and the American Eagle? Maybe the Gurney flap?
Haas is a joke and so is Logan quite frankly if Andretti were to enter they would immediately bring a lot more to F1 than Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Haas or even Williams
This makes even more sense when you look at where the Congressmen who signed this litter represent. Florida and Texas (who each host a grand prix) have at least one rep. here, and several are from Michigan and Indiana (where GM and Andretti are based, respectively). One is from North Carolina, which I know is where a lot of NASCAR teams are based but I don't know if Andretti has anything there. This is an easy thing for these congressmen to support since it's something their constituents have an actual stake in EDIT: I wrote this during the beginning of the video when it sounded like you weren't going to go over that but im gonna leave the comment up anyway
Did the same. Looked up the signees Congressional districts. One of the signees has a lot automotive industry experience especially regarding the financial impact of the plants.
I've been a fan of F1 here in the US since the late 70's. Saw my only F1 race in Long Beach when Reutemann won with Ferrari. Followed it all these years. But honestly, if FOM/FIA/Liberty Media don't want Andretti Autosport, then I say take all of the F1 races in the US off the calendar. We don't need the arrogance. We have the INDY 500 which lately is a much better race than F1's crown jewel in Monaco where there's NO PASSING. Indy car can take over the venues where F1 was racing (COTA, Miami, and Vegas). They can sue all they want. F1 needs the US market more than the US needs F1. Without our consumption, European manufacturers won't really sell more cars than what they do. F1 isn't holding a race in Central America per se. We love our open wheel racing. The fear is that Cadillac/GM will have reliability and power that can rival Red Bull and MB.
Excellent tactics! Threaten f1's potential market and growth. The U.S. could block them from competing within the States. Dilution is one type of loss, but nothing compared to the actual loss of the U.S. market and fanfare. That's pretty much guaranteed Andretti a place on the grid! I'm delighted such actions are being taken to make F1 answer up and be accountable. If Andretti can employ devious strategies as such, they'll do great in F1! P.S. I'm not from the U.S. I just want F1 to grow and become more exciting!
It is backwards to think a team like that would not provide value... I´d like to ask the liberty board if they honestly think a team like HAAS, Alpine or Williams is giving them a ton of value. Sure it might not be an important issue for the US citizen, but it is an issue for the government, personal interests there... Are we going to forget GM was bailed out by the government some years back? These guys also have the potential to make coin out of it.
Given the corporate structure of F1, the FiA, Liberty Media and stock shares, I understand completely why Mario would want to alert the US gov't to another greedy corporation bent on extracting profits from US markets withouit allowing US the ability to compete in it. Andretti is a very credable name and they have jumped thru the numerous and ever changing hoops required to enter an F1 team. And Mario Andretti has a lifetime of family experiences where he has demonstrated that winning at all levels is done with integrity and dignity grounded in character strengths of kindness and humility while being a great competitor at the same time. His character is above reproach. It seems that they are being excluded for no good or valid reason, so they deserve to be given a legitimate answer, or be given a grid assignment.
The thing that should scare the crap out of everyone at F1 is the U.S. government being concerned that they are "acting like a cartel". I hope they all have their finances in order because I'm sure the U.S. Justice Department is itching to make another example like FIFA.
Hold on, Andretti automotive have said they didn't ask anyone to come out in support of their bid to get into F1. Have things changed since they made this statement then?
Nope. According to one report, it was Congress that called in the Andrettis due to Red Bull holding an exhibition drive down Pennsylvania Avenue with one of their old cars as part of a PR campaign for the Miami GP. I'd say this is like poking the bear, but it's more like lathering yourself up in honey and walking into a bears' den thinking nothing will happen.
This is still a solid priority for Indiana & Michigan. This is a major advertising backing for GM’s relaunch into Europe. That could make a lot of money for American manufacturing and the middle class. That plus the direct jobs the F1 facility would bring. Also the DOJ is currently on an anti-trust run and protectionism is the flavor of the year.
Andretti Cadillac to pick up Adrian Newey during his 2025 garden leave?? Might make their program look like a serious contender. I also wonder if, since Andretti is not an F1 team, if Newey’s non-compete could prevent him from working there in 2025.
Well, if he's employed in the United States and not in England, Non competes have been banned by the FTC last week in the United States, making his non-compete invalid and unenforceable in the US.
@Redlingstein well, it doesn't matter. His deal was announced and he can leave after the rb17 project is finished in 2025. There allowing him to join another team immediately if he chooses after his official finale day with RBR.
as a long time F1 fan since the 90's, i just cant comprehend in what way andretti would make f1 "worse". it would obviously be more interesting, especially for the f1 crowd in the US.
Couple of points I'd make: * The US government is massive, and the focus of the government isn't such a finite resource that getting Congress members onboard with ensuring Liberty Media (an American company) isn't stifling American jobs and entrepeneurship means taking *away* from other things Congress can *and should* be focusing on. Mostly, Congress passes things like Andretti's complaints off to Bureaus of apolitical entities whose job it is to enforce these things. * To any Andretti detractors complaining about this, I'd challenge them to show me *any* F1 team who wouldn't and doesn't regularly go to the Stewards with rules technicalities and challenges to ensure they are getting the absolute best advantage for their team. Andretti's tactics here are 100% in keeping with that, and shows that Andretti aren't the type who are naive enough to think that everything is solely resolved "on-track" so to speak. Andretti are playing for keeps and ready to go.
Trying to dig deeper and deeper inside American wallets while at the same time treating US racing royalty like gutter trash. It wasn’t a simple rejection, they just had to throw insults into the mix. Consequences will never be the same.
My thing with the new concord agreement is that they are considering adding points up to 12th position which would make sense for 12 teams so why bring the limit down to 10?
The Fact that you have "Outside Pressure" on the "Good Old Boys Club" that is F1 is honestly good in my opinion. Ive been aware of F1 most of my life, kept an eye on it from the time Red Bull joined and really following it since 2018. The US has 3 Grand Prixs and 1 Driver (who probably won't be on the grind after the summer break). It is Owned by an American Company but Has No American Team (Hass is a European Team with an American company as a Titel Sponsor lets be honest here) and when you break down the Prize winnings at the end of the Season it Doesn't matter where Ferrari end up they Still are taking home almost Half the total prize pool because they have had a team Consistently in the sport from the beginning. The Way F1 is Currently set up it Only Benefits Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes. McLaren are a Subsidiary of Mercedes same with Williams. Hass is run by Ferrari, same with Sauba, Red Bull has 4 cars over 2 teams and then Alpine... The Sport is just 3 People that control everything. As an American i would like to see an American Team.
I would like to point out that F1 and IRL got about the same ratings last year. I feel like the F1 circuit is more interested in the States than the States are in F1. It is almost like a team based in this country would help them gain more ground. Feels kinda like they want our money but not our competition. Watched Indy/CART off and on my whole life. Do not feel the need to add a session of competitive follow the leader, umm, I mean race.
I bet most American fans don't know HAAS is actually "American". Unless they watch NASCAR, they wouldn't know. HAAS doesn't really advertise themselves as an American team. As an American, I would love to see an American team, with an American driver, that actually want's to be associated with America
And there's already increased scrutiny on Ticketmaster and Live Nation already... More government scrutiny on Liberty might be find a lot more "cartel" behavior
Oh man you should look up those baseball players having to testify in front of congress about cheating allegations. Us Americans really take sports serious .
As an American, what’s the resentment about bringing an American team onto the grid? Just the natural animosity European have against Americans? I really really want an American team in F1.
This time, It's not us europeans. We actually DO want Andretti to join. Even FIA said they're allowing Andretti to join. It was american owned Liberty Media and FOM that said no to Andretti
I think it has to do with splitting the prize pot with another competent/ competitive team. F1 is becoming very popular and the teams have become fat hogs off all that new money rolling in - this is all about greed
Normally I wouldn’t like this aggressiveness in order to secure an entry but Andretti jumped through literally every hoop put in their way and F1 still told them to essentially go f*** themselves. At this point, it is clear that no matter what they did, F1 would still try to find a reason to say no. I fully support this. 7:45 I have been calling them a cartel for a very long time. Very glad to see an actual representative sees it too.
GM pulled out. This makes me not wanna see andretti get in because they are throwing their weight out and about because they can't get things their own way.
@@chris9650 Source? I doubt GM would actually want to pull out of this. If they were to go into F1 it would let them compete with Ford and bring them some money depending where Andretti places while in F1.
It was shameful and short-sighted that the teams rejected Andretti for fear of losing income. I hope Andretti gets in, even if they have to do it with the help of the government. It will be a great boost to the sport as finally, the Americans will have a real connection to the sport.
As an American I can definitely tell you that politicians focusing on this while our country burns and our civil liberties are being taken away is a regular office day

F1: "No, we're playing with the toys. You can sit there and watch us play."

F1 has never liked the American involvement in their series, and now another American team with an engine manufacturer are intruding into their profits and with ford coming into the picture with Redbull its totally freaking them out. Must be afraid of a little competition.
The complaint about Andretti not being competitive is such BS considering that at least half the grid have no desire to compete for the championship
As they say, "win on Sunday, sell on Monday."
The legal fight that was started by AJ Foyt in the CART - Indycar split decades ago will look like a fly on a windscreen compared to what will happen here if F1 doesn't change its course.
Newsflash, Andretti is serious....get used to this. Would love to see them hire Newey and watch FOM heads explode....

OK SO
The US Congress is involved for a couple of reasons, legitimate reasons, here.
That's a fair assessment. Possible naiveté.
Thank you so much for making decent content and not just clickbait garbage like too much of formula 1 content.
Because Liberty is just a yes man. The ones actually controlling the FOM are Vasseur, Wolf and Horner.
The only reason for this letter is because the congressmans have shares in GM.
Might be true, but I'm actually happy about it in this case.

It’s pretty undeniable that Andretti joining as an 11th team will add value to F1 in my opinion. Makes no sense to deny them, just bitter owners who don’t want the risk of being outperformed by a new team.
6:48 Never thought Bernie Ecclestone would look like the good guy
Right? It's crazy to think that this whole Andretti F1 saga has reached this point, but here we are.

Anti-Trust regulations in the US exist for this very reason, basically this law prevents any company from gaining a monopoly and if they do end up capturing the market, this law makes sure that they don’t exploit the consumer and the competition
So why is Microsoft so monopolistic?
@@thelazywanderer_jt

The same rules apply in the UK. The Monopolies Commission has split up huge companies, or prevented two major companies from joining before now.
Amazon. Apple. Microsoft. Alphabet.
The fact that Liberty Media is based in the US is even more damning to them
Honestly worst-case scenario i could see f1 getting black balled in the US because of how much power GM has in the gov
I think F1 should be banned from the US is they block Andretti. Fair is fair.

Well said, Hoof.
It sucks, I like the teams but I feel I don’t have someone to cheer for. As an American. I could be a Haas fan but it’s a struggle to cheer for them.

The other teams are afraid of Andretti/Cadillac because they know there is a very good chance they will get their snobby asse's kicked.
The fact "kick" or "visa cash app" aren't considered to "diminish the value" of the sport is already a joke 🙄
as a long time F1 fan since the 90's, i just cant comprehend in what way andretti would make f1 "worse". it would obviously be more interesting, especially for the f1 crowd in the US.
I remember they did the same thing to Porsche a while ago.
That fell through due to Christian Horner halting it as it might have potentially reduced his control of the team.
Couple of points I'd make:
* The US government is massive, and the focus of the government isn't such a finite resource that getting Congress members onboard with ensuring Liberty Media (an American company) isn't stifling American jobs and entrepeneurship means taking *away* from other things Congress can *and should* be focusing on.
I mean ford is with RedBull so you can’t really say that F1 is hurting the US anymore by rejecting adretti gm
Enshrining the status quo of team numbers probably.
Go Team Andretti, full support as it will bring more to the sport and 2 more driver spots young talent can fill in rather than roting in F2
Law, you are easily my favourite, and in my opinion the best f1 content creator around! Much love from PEI, Canada!
Thank you, Ivan!
Keepin the season interesting while Max and Redbull cruise to another championship.
Bc. Watching the best ever do his thing is boring?
Honestly i really hate getting government involved but anti trust issue raised really hits a big point
The fact the “they “tried to lure GM away means Andretti has something going there & might be more competitive
There's a reason it feels kinda like they want your money but not your competition, because that is *exactly* what they want.
I bet most American fans don't know HAAS is actually "American". Unless they watch NASCAR, they wouldn't know. HAAS doesn't really advertise themselves as an American team. As an American, I would love to see an American team, with an American driver, that actually want's to be associated with America
Well they can come to the Americas and race without being charged plus there’s the fact that liberty media is somewhat an American company
I had zero idea Live Nation was under Liberty. This makes so much sense now!
And there's already increased scrutiny on Ticketmaster and Live Nation already... More government scrutiny on Liberty might be find a lot more "cartel" behavior
Now I know why the uk lost one nation dnb
I agree that andretti should be able to enter, but the 10 teams have to much power
Oh man you should look up those baseball players having to testify in front of congress about cheating allegations. Us Americans really take sports serious .
That was a fun American accent, appreciated. 😂
As an American, what’s the resentment about bringing an American team onto the grid?
Just the natural animosity European have against Americans?
I really really want an American team in F1.
HAAS is an American F1 team. Their main base of operations is in Minneapolis and they have one in Banbury, England as well.
I think if this escalated quickly then maybe the US won’t let a US, Miami, or Las Vegas GP for a season, then that would make F1 lose there marbles.
@@chris9650 when was this?
@@chris9650 Source? I doubt GM would actually want to pull out of this. If they were to go into F1 it would let them compete with Ford and bring them some money depending where Andretti places while in F1.
@@KINGMARS413 they delayed the entry date, not pulled out.
It was shameful and short-sighted that the teams rejected Andretti for fear of losing income. I hope Andretti gets in, even if they have to do it with the help of the government. It will be a great boost to the sport as finally, the Americans will have a real connection to the sport.
As an American I can definitely tell you that politicians focusing on this while our country burns and our civil liberties are being taken away is a regular office day
You voted for them
You vote for the politicians
(not you personally, I’m saying Americans as a whole)
@@Takingyoutojail it honestly doesn’t matter who we vote for lobbyist run this country, if you look at the amount of money lobbyists have “donated” they donate to politicians from both sides plus they all do insider trading. It doesn’t matter who we vote for, we are screwed.
