  • Learn about the beautiful trees that provide a canopy of shade at Fort Tryon Park's highest point - Linden Terrace! Lindens also attract honey bees, have heart-shaped leaves, and samaras ("helicopters"). This Linden tree grove was created by Fort Tryon Park's design firm, The Olmsted Brothers, and was in place at the park's opening on October 12, 1935.
Watch TWO MINUTES WITH TREES, a 10-part video series presented by the Fort Tryon Park Trust and hosted by NYC author and naturalist Leslie Day. The series features some of the most spectacular trees in northern Manhattan's 67-acre Fort Tryon Park - a New York City public park designated a Scenic Landmark in 1983.
