I’m a Taiwanese girl who married a Guyanese man, we live in NYC, I’ve made this pepper pot 5 years in the row, hubby couldn’t be more proud of my cooking skills! Thanks to Jen❤this recipe is simple yet so delicious!! Thank you and happy holidays
Don’t sleep on Jehan y’all. She is just about the best Caribbean chef of RUclips. Her recipes are simple and packed full of flavor. I also love how clean her surroundings are when she cooks. Definitely love my own pepperpot, which I make in the pressure cooker, but I’m going to try cooking it this way. Slow and low🤣👏🏽
I'm Jamaican and I love my belly and love not only visiting other islands and connecting with my people, but also trying the dishes. I made this and this is now apart of my family Christmas morning breakfast along side the Aker and saltfish! Keep up the good work love.
I visited trini last year christmas and I was among some guyanese and they did this for christmas😍😍😍😍😗omg It was lit😣...I am Jamaican but I'd relocate to guyana anytime soon for this pot😥
I really like your Guyanese recipes. Your instruction are clear, succinct and easy to follow. I tried to make a few of your stuff and was very pleased with the result.
I am a Haitian woman who married from Trinidad and some friends from Guyanese who told me about the pepper pot stew , I haven’t taste it yet , I will make it for the holidays , thank you for recipe, happy holidays
Jehan, I followed your recipe to the letter for the cook up last week. The buddy of mine who is from Guyana said it was out of this world. He and some friends are coming back tomorrow and we're having pepperpot, the curried chicken, and the roti! I'll be sure to let you know how they turn out! Thank you again for all these awesome recipes!
Hi Jehan, Im a guyanese born living in Canada. Thank you for sharing, I followed your recipe and made the best pepper pot, second time in my whole life, first time was just blah, and braid bread. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I grew up for the first 10 years of my life eating this many mornings, but I never knew how it was made. Thanks a lot for the recipe and technique. My mother used to call the bread " plait bread". She was Guyanese but we did not live in Guyana. I will try the recipe soon.

Hi Jehan, thank you posting this recipe. My mum is Guyanese but now lives here in the UK and its near on impossible to find authentic Guyanese food where we live. I cooked this for her to try give her a little slice of home 🇬🇾 Will definitely try some more recipes from your channel x

I'm sorry if you get asked this a lot but where do you get your cassareep from? It's so hard to find good cassareep and the ones I see in places like amazon has a lot of mixed reviews saying its not the authentic and having the consistency of like honey.
can't wait to try this. thanks Jehan. Is there another name for caseeerp in stores?? And does anyone know where to find it in ATL. Would love to try this.
Renay, no there isn't any other name. Go to Georgetown Food Market on Covington Highway in Decatur for cassareep. I suggest you do it as soon as possible because it's usually sold out close to Christmas. I believe there's a location in Jonesboro also.
Looks so good. Need to order carraseep online. Btw, the meat can be left out on stove for 2 weeks? Really? I don’t think I want to try that. But I do plan on trying this recipe.
Hello Jehan! Thank you so much for sharing this and many other Guyanese foods. I plan to try this one this Christmas as well as cheese straws! Question - Can you freeze the meat directly after adding the casareep and herbs? I don't normally deal with casareep so I just wanted to know.
Hi Jehan. I did this is my instant pot and the liquid dried up. Can we add more water to create more gravy or will we have to add in more of all the ingredients if we use that method ?
I put mine in the slow cooker. Set it and forget it. Thanks for telling me about the sugar. And is that lemon skin you put inside the stew? My gravy is not that thick. How you make it so dark and thick?
my boss talks about this dish all year round. So I came to see what the fuss was all about and although it looks tasty I cant believe it's a breakfast🤯

Hi Jean my name is Julie Alexis from Trinidad , I'm one of your sub I love your style of preparing food you must say hi to me take care .
Thank you!
looks delicious, it's a must try!!!
Your food looks so delicious
Can I just use oxtails & pig feet and also add potatoes ? Plus is the cow foot a necessity?
You can use any meat that you like. Cow foot isn't necessary but I like it!
GREAT explanation,from Guyana
Lovely
Can I pressure it to reduce the cooking time?
How much sugar did u put in this recipe and can I use brown sugar ?
I love cow foot and oxtail in my pepperpot 👌
Hi looks good thanks for helping
Looks good, but the casareep looks kinda thin. Sure it's not burnt sugar?
I think I added too much pepper this time... Otherwise perfect. How do I calm down the heat?
Love your channel 🙏❤
can't wait to try this. thanks Jehan. Is there another name for caseeerp in stores?? And does anyone know where to find it in ATL. Would love to try this.

Looks so good. Need to order carraseep online. Btw, the meat can be left out on stove for 2 weeks? Really? I don’t think I want to try that. But I do plan on trying this recipe.
Cassareep preserves the meat. It has to be boiled daily. Usually I will have it from Christmas thru to New Years without refrigeration!
Hello Jehan! Thank you so much for sharing this and many other Guyanese foods. I plan to try this one this Christmas as well as cheese straws! Question - Can you freeze the meat directly after adding the casareep and herbs? I don't normally deal with casareep so I just wanted to know.
Yes you can!
@@jehanpowell Great thank you!
Hi Jehan. I did this is my instant pot and the liquid dried up. Can we add more water to create more gravy or will we have to add in more of all the ingredients if we use that method ?
Hi, yes you can add more liquid as needed.
😋😋😋😋 thank you....wah coming next lol
Where do you buy your casapreep!
Jehan u can cook im going do pepper pot your way
Can you post a video of garlic pork
Love me some
Thank you
Does the cassareep expire
You know the thing good
Cassareep is so hard to come by in the UK nowadays man
Can the sugar be skipped?? Cassrip already has natural sugars.
Pippa Con you certainly can. You can customize it to your personal liking.
Yes u can if you get the best cassreep
I love your channel can I speed up this process by using my pressure cooker or does it have to be low and slow.
Qianastaysblessed Pressure cooker is only needed if you cooking old cow.
nice video love
I put mine in the slow cooker. Set it and forget it. Thanks for telling me about the sugar. And is that lemon skin you put inside the stew? My gravy is not that thick. How you make it so dark and thick?
It is orange peel. As it cooks down it thickens.
Can you tell me how much meat in all? I’d like to do oxtail and short ribs. How much meat in all?
Hi, please check the recipe and add the amount for the meats.
Lawd have mercy. I’m heading to the supermarket
my boss talks about this dish all year round. So I came to see what the fuss was all about and although it looks tasty I cant believe it's a breakfast🤯
😆It's specifically a Christmas breakfast, we don't eat this for breakfast year round.
@@jehanpowell I knew it was a Christmas thing but never knew it was for breakfast 👍👍 you taught me something today🇨🇦
Yummmy❤❤❤❤
Yum yum
How do you make casarepe?
Nice
What's that dark sauce? I have auditory processing issues and can't make out the name of it. Something starting with a C is all I can make out.
It's called cassareep.
@@jehanpowell Thanks!
Where’d u get ur casereep
I will be making this soon. Can you make this with turkey?
Yes. Use smoked turkey
Hi, is this the same brown sauce that we use for oxtail dish? xx
no it's a different sauce
ok ok its call cassreep
No.. cassareep is burnt cassava/yucca. Browning sauce is burnt sugar.
No Bake?
Pepper pot look proper girl
Need a garlic pork recipe
