    Don’t sleep on Jehan y’all. She is just about the best Caribbean chef of RUclips. Her recipes are simple and packed full of flavor. I also love how clean her surroundings are when she cooks. Definitely love my own pepperpot, which I make in the pressure cooker, but I’m going to try cooking it this way. Slow and low🤣👏🏽

    I'm Jamaican and I love my belly and love not only visiting other islands and connecting with my people, but also trying the dishes. I made this and this is now apart of my family Christmas morning breakfast along side the Aker and saltfish! Keep up the good work love.

    I visited trini last year christmas and I was among some guyanese and they did this for christmas😍😍😍😍😗omg It was lit😣...I am Jamaican but I'd relocate to guyana anytime soon for this pot😥

    Jehan, I followed your recipe to the letter for the cook up last week. The buddy of mine who is from Guyana said it was out of this world. He and some friends are coming back tomorrow and we're having pepperpot, the curried chicken, and the roti! I'll be sure to let you know how they turn out!     Thanks for the video. I grew up for the first 10 years of my life eating this many mornings, but I never knew how it was made. Thanks a lot for the recipe and technique. My mother used to call the bread " plait bread". She was Guyanese but we did not live in Guyana. I will try the recipe soon.

    Nice! I wish cow foot was more readily available where I live. It adds such a nice flavour to dishes like pepperpot. Good job.

    Hi Jehan, thank you posting this recipe. My mum is Guyanese but now lives here in the UK and its near on impossible to find authentic Guyanese food where we live. I cooked this for her to try give her a little slice of home 🇬🇾 Will definitely try some more recipes from your channel x

    I'm sorry if you get asked this a lot but where do you get your cassareep from? It's so hard to find good cassareep and the ones I see in places like amazon has a lot of mixed reviews saying its not the authentic and having the consistency of like honey.

    Can I just use oxtails & pig feet and also add potatoes ? Plus is the cow foot a necessity?

      You can use any meat that you like. Cow foot isn't necessary but I like it!

      Renay, no there isn't any other name. Go to Georgetown Food Market on Covington Highway in Decatur for cassareep. I suggest you do it as soon as possible because it's usually sold out close to Christmas. I believe there's a location in Jonesboro also.

    Looks so good. Need to order carraseep online. Btw, the meat can be left out on stove for 2 weeks? Really? I don’t think I want to try that. But I do plan on trying this recipe.

      Cassareep preserves the meat. It has to be boiled daily. Usually I will have it from Christmas thru to New Years without refrigeration!

    Hello Jehan! Thank you so much for sharing this and many other Guyanese foods. I plan to try this one this Christmas as well as cheese straws! Question - Can you freeze the meat directly after adding the casareep and herbs? I don't normally deal with casareep so I just wanted to know.

    Hi Jehan. I did this is my instant pot and the liquid dried up. Can we add more water to create more gravy or will we have to add in more of all the ingredients if we use that method ?

      Qianastaysblessed Pressure cooker is only needed if you cooking old cow.

    I put mine in the slow cooker. Set it and forget it. Thanks for telling me about the sugar. And is that lemon skin you put inside the stew? My gravy is not that thick. How you make it so dark and thick?

      It is orange peel. As it cooks down it thickens.

      No.. cassareep is burnt cassava/yucca. Browning sauce is burnt sugar.
