Thank you sir for the detailed video it was very helpful .It has greatly helped me in my hydrological model for rainfall runoff .So clear and precise, beautifully done!!
Thank you for this video, it is a very usefull explication about all the components of the HEC-HMS model. Can i ask you about the K coefficient? Is there any equation to get the K value using the differents parameters of the river? Do you recommend any bibliography or video to study how to get the value of the K coefficient for different situations? Thank you!
Hi thank you for your query. Yes, it’s a routing parameter, and it has specific guidelines to estimate its value from channel and basin characteristics. Even though I provide all materials to calculate the model parameters but you can study any hydrology books for your calculations.
hay. i m an algérien i m so thankfull 4 ur vedeos would u please add vedeo explaining what type of datas I need to collect before starting my modelin u doing good work thanks a lot
Hi, thanks for your query. The dataset depends on the purpose of the modeling. If it is only for an event, the required dataset is different from a continuous model. However, the basic data for all types are DEM, rainfall, land use and land cover, soil classification, discharge, etc. I offer training on this modeling, where I demonstrate how to set up the model from scratch, including but not limited to input generation, parameter estimation, calibration and validation, etc. For more info, send message to +16825537054 on WhatsApp.
May I know how you downloaded that data which you r inserting. Like u said ARCGIS . Also if I get some video or website to download a large data of my sub-basin , it would be helpful.
Thank you Sandeep for the query. You can attend my training session on this and will learn more about it from scratch. For further details post your query to WhatsApp @ +16825537054
The video is all good, but I'm stuck trying to get the relevant maps, like the ones you have used, can you tell me how to get those for a specific area?
Thanks for the query, yes you can download that area for your study area, I have other videos where I have demonstrated how to download the shapefiles or the latest version of HEC-HMS model does not need the shapefiles but the DEM (Elevation data). I have another video that demonstrates how to create a HEC-HMS model from DEM data. I encourage you to watch that as well.
It's nice explanation.can you make video on why HEC-HMS model is use for Rainfall-Runoff modelling? And separate video on what is input data required for HEC-HMS model and what it's put. Thank you

Classification of Watersheds by Size: Three types of watershed are distinguished according to size: Small size: < 250 km2 Medium size: between 250 km2- 2500 km2 Large: >250 km2 This classification is vague, but the implication is in terms of spatial heterogeneity and dampening (averaging) of hydrological processes.
Sir, I have done all the steps mentioned in this video. But when I tried to Run Compute All Elements for Test Run, It is showing following Errors: WARNING 10351: Could not connect precipitation gage "" to data in the time-series manager. NOTE 20364: Found no parameter problems in meteorologic model "Met 1". NOTE 40049: Found no parameter problems in basin model "Basin 1". What should I do to rectify this problem ?
Thank you for the query. For model calibration, we need to have observed or any simulated data. If the study area is located within USA, we have simulations from National Water Model (NWM) for 2.7 million streams that covers literally every stream segments. So, we can easily calibrate against that. However, if there is not observed data, you need to extend your model all the way to an upstream stations or set up the model for a nearly watershed where observation exists, then transfer the model parameters to your ungauged watershed after calibrating the model for the gauged one. I usually demonstrate all these in my training sessions. For more detail, send message to +16825537054 on WhatsApp.
Hello sir, am from uganda, how can i generate a model when am using the soil moisture accounting method under the (loss method) instead of the SCS curve number method
yes, it's possible to use SMA instead of CN. if the model is for long time, such as for few years then using SMA is effective. But you have to calculate the parameters which takes time ans needs to process landuse an soil information.
Thank you. It is wonderful. Could you clear me that how can we export the output graph to including in the writing up text? And also, would you email me the HECHMS tutorial data? thank you.from Haramaya University Ethiopia.
Hello please how to input time in control specifications? I have precipitation data in mm/day. For example I have rainfall data from 01 july 2019 to 31 july 2019 in mm per day . Every data is recorded at 9:00 am . How to input start time and end time with date from given time? Also there are zero rainfall in some days in between and 1 july too. Please please please do reply. I have very little time remaining for completing my thesis.

The main climatological input forcing of HEC-HMS is rainfall. If you are able to calculate the rainfall for those years, the model will compute the discharge for you.

Is the CN is a common value for all sub-basins or should we find the CN separately for each sub-basin?
No, CN varies from basin to basin and you have to calculate that CN using land use information and soil data.
Great job, but no need for junction1, the downstream of subbasin 1 is simply reach1
