SORRY, No Links to get Unreal Gold anymore as Epic has decided to Delist the game everywhere for some stupid reason? i suggest finding a physical copy somewhere. or do some searching on the internet i guess.
I Discovered some awesome mods for Unreal Gold Edition!
in this video i am using a unofficial Patch which add in support for Directx 8 ,9 & 11 renderers as well as support for OpenGL renderer. comes with additional fixes and hi res character models, adds in screen space reflections as well as wide screen support and the ability to change the framerate cap and the screen refresh rate as well. included with these mods is Readme files that explain how to install them. its real easy to do. the mods should work with the retail box copy of the game provided all official patches are installed but here i am using the Steam Version of the game. so no official patches will be required for this to work.
1.first install the unofficial Patch which you can get here:www.oldunreal....
NOTE: SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE AND UNDER DOWNLOADS SELECT UNREALGOLDPATCH227i.7z
extract and install to your main unreal gold install folder. you may have to copy the file path and paste it into the install path if the game is installed on another drive than your c drive.
2. once you've installed the patch next thing is to install the directx 11 renderer. get it Here:www.moddb.com/...
NOTE: once downloaded, extract it, open it up and then open the common folder, copy the contents to the SYSTEM folder in your unreal gold install path.
next, open the Unreal_gold_2271 folder and copy all contents into the SYSTEM folder in your unreal gold install path.
NOTE: when launching the game for the first time it should ask you what renderer you want to use, if dx11 does not show up in the list, select SUPPORTED DEVICES and it should show, select it and you should be able to launch the game in that renderer. i highly recommend using dx11 if you want to use the 4k textures. if the game does not launch the renderer select menu u can launch it within the game by selecting preferences and then video option tab and you will see a button in that menu for selecting renderer.
the next thing is coping over the texture packs,
now there are 2 texture packs i recommend installing, one for parallax textures and one for 4k hi rez textures
3. get the parallax textures here:www.moddb.com/...
and the 4k texture pack here:www.moddb.com/...
these are super easy to install for both the Parallax textures and the 4k textures all you have to do is extract them to a folder and then copy all of the contents within the texture folders and paste them into your texture folder in your unreal gold install path. make sure to copy the contents within and not the texture folder itself. overwrite if it asks.
Unreal 1 needs a level by level complete remake.
The levels were perfect how they were. We just need new modern model, tessalation, particle effects, vegetation, etc to further improve the immersion.
There is a guy Skull0r remaking all of the levels himself. They look great, but it'll be a bit before he's done.
Unreal Engine 5! Ray tracing enabled.

these graphics mods are horrible
Much appreciation to you for creating this video. People have to keep in mind that this game came out in 1998 and I bought it then and still play it now. I had a Packard Bell computer and bought my first video card (3DFX) which I installed myself. In 1998, that was a big deal so thanks again for the video and please dont be bothered by the comments. Most of these guys only know the last 2-3 generations of gaming.
Exactly, i was blown away by this mod, considering how old the game is, its incredible just how good the game can look today with a modern renderer.
This original release was one of the biggest jumps in graphics ever. Volumetric fog, reflections and water. Mind blowing. Like the original Doom when that happened!

И тут я испуганный бегу по этому кораблю в надежде увидеть свет, тут скарж пугает меня, потом момент выхода с корабля. Помню как я был в шоке от этой атмосферы, от этой графики) Я был так впечатлен. А искуственный интелект даже сейчас, спустя 23 мать его года может дать жару любителям побегать с ботами в кс или батлрояле))))) Они не понимают что AI в unreal настолько силен, что можно дропнуть игру на 4 карте в UT )))
The new unofficial patch 227j has HUD scaling built in, so you can enlarge health and inventory display at high resolutions.
I’m on 227i and I see no such option. Do you know where to find it?

I'd be happy if someone figured out how to keep it all the same yet different as in slight adjustments only to the graphics.

Round off all the sharp corners where they aren't naturally sharp for starters.
This game blew me away when It first came out as it did almost everyone who witnessed it.
thats a graphics technique called Tessellation. in theory it could be put into this game but it would take some work given the age of the game engine.
Im so sick of watching reflections off the floor and rocks all the time...since when rusty metal reflects so much light ? Its like the floor is covered with water all time....very realistic
The nice thing about the mod is you can easily toggle off screen Space Reflections.

Awesome look gameplay awesome too. I've downloaded the 2 hd texture paks after dx11 renderer. The read me says unpack to the texture folder in Unrealgold, but there are many subfolders too?

i cant be more clear on how to install the textures. once you have downloaded the texture mods, extract them to their own folders on your desktop or somewhere in your downloads section in windows. then copy the files within that folder to your TEXTURE folder within Unreal Gold install location. overwrite if it asks for permission.
That GPU usage on the 2060 tho...

@@Devilot91 there's no ray tracing used in this video. Just old fashioned overhauling of textures and the rendering engine.
@@Punisher6791 was a joke indeed 🙄 meant that ofc is a dx11 mod but the effects (reflections on surfaces) reminds like those rtx mods for those (like me) dont even have a RT capable card
