  • The crowd was slow to leave after a victory over Alabama. So the Golden Band played "Neck" one more time for the happy fans. However, this was to be the last time the Tiger Band played "Neck". Once again another song is banned.

I'm a Bama fan, so it pains me to admit this but...LSU fans/students at football games are incredible.

Sept 16, 2011 According to a LSU band member, the band will play "Neck" or NOT play "Neck" depending on who is broadcasting the game. CBS is one of the networks that they won't play if they are broadcasting.

From what I have been able to discern, choosing to play or not play this song is a tough choice for the band. The football players love "Neck", and it motivates them. Yet the profanity (from the student section) can sometimes be heard when they play the song.

@MarchingYellowjacket A lot of songs get banned, because some of the fans get creative and make up profane lyrics. Everybody has their own opinion on whether or not songs should be banned. IMO, they should just keep playing the songs! The fans will just make up new lyrics to new songs. Or as in the case of the home opener in Texas against Oregon...chant off-colored stuff WITHOUT the band. The more of an issue is made of it, the louder the fans will get. Hard to stop a train.

I guess it was banned because it was too SWAC for them. Smh. LSU was crunk for real though. I liked it and this is coming from a Jackson State fan who knows what Neck sounds like. Nice one LSU. Big ups to ya'll.

Bottom line is that the Tiger Band is a proud institution that has class and will always remain classy.

I don't like this version.... I like it better than most NON HBCU bands...but I prefer our HBCU style....If I had to go with a version that was non-HBCU???? I'd probably go with this one.

@e3754 The student fans that came with the chant that got this song banned should get blamed big time.
