  • It's Easter Sunday but not an egg in sight! Having walked a few extra miles yesterday, I was able to treat myself to a slower start. This walk had a comforting, familiar feel as it is the first along this entire journey that holds no surprises, I have walked this stretch several times before. I would be walking though Mount Edgcumbe Country Park where I got married last year, I also was excited to reach my home city of Plymouth and experience this as part of the trail and not just the city that I grew up in.

    Hi Paul.
I'm pleased to see you are continuing your SW Coastpath walk into 2023. 😃
Brings back fond memories of some holidays in this area when our children were younger.
    Great video as always.
    Thank you.

@@pilgrimpaul7798 Yes, correct. It was a very rainy start then it eased off and the sun came out eventually but the walk was quite wooded anyway.
      Enjoy your next leg. 😃

Another cracker of a video Paul. As Sue Dyer says, thanks for making sense of the Plymouth section. The Orangery looked an amazing venue but I didn't have time to explore. When I got to Plymouth last June the heavens opened and the weather was pretty awful so I booked a night in the hostel which was fantastic. Watched 'Everything Everywhere all at Once' at the cinema that evening which blew my mind😂I picked up the path from Devil's Point next morning and watched some marines training before following the path along the front. The history of the place is fascinating and I vowed to return one day to take it all in at my leisure. So glad I didn't catch the ferry and continued on foot through the old docks and boatyards etc. Anyway, thanks very much for sharing your adventures in such a visually stunning and entertaining way. Like many others I always look forward to a Pilgrim Paul video on RUclips.

Thanks Mark. I can’t say I am familiar with that film. I’ll have to try and find it. Yes Plymouth is I think often skipped by many. Whilst it doesn’t have rugged high cliffs to walk, it does have as you say a lot of history and other things of interest. I’ll be back soon to finish off Plymouth and beyond.

Really enjoyed this, as I have all your videos Paul. It has been many years since I did the complete Cornish section (now filling in the rest!) and it has made me realise how much of the SE part I have forgotten. Thanks for bringing it all back to me and for making some sense of the Plymouth bit which I have yet to do. Your videos are so beautifully done and are such a pleasure to watch. Devon awaits!

Thank you for the lovely message Sue. I think SE Cornwall is often overlooked but it has some beautiful scenery. Cornwall has been amazing. I know I will return to walk sections again, maybe I’ll allow myself shorter distances and more time to enjoy it all.

Another great episode Paul - thanks. Lovely reveal shot of Rame Head as you climb over the hill before - appreciated! I have done this walk twice and both times been too knackered to contemplate any diversions, no matter how minor, for Rame Head and Queen Adelaide's Chapel. Full of regrets now of course and have vowed to see them both next time. When you have long hard day ahead it is difficult to find the time and energy to do all of these wondrous things justice!

Thank you as always for watching and commenting. I know exactly what you mean. I often have these moments of wanting to explore something but at the same time being a bit too tired. As I am filming the walks that normally gives me the motivation to take in these diversions. At least you have a good excuse to visit this stretch again!

Excellent as always Paul…..I remember this leg well, and ended it in a very dubious B&B on the Hoe! Had to do the detour around the firing range….not fun walking along the road! But at least I managed to walk through the range between Lulworth and Kimmeridge. That’s one NOT to be missed! 😊

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  Год назад +2

Surely there are no dodgy B&Bs in Plymouth!! As I’m walking the path in sections I am able to factor in the opening times of the ranges. I def wouldn’t want to miss out on the Lulworth ranges.

this brought back some teenage memorys and regrets of a sea fishing match friend desided we would try rame head and cawsands beach so here we was at the plymouth side of the mt edgecome ferry with enough supplys to be able to stay out for 30 hours in the middle of march that walk almost killed me off with what was proberly close to 80+ kg on my back

Wow I thought my pack was heavy! I fished from Rame Head once before and a few times at Penlee Point, but we blanked.

@@pilgrimpaul7798 yea we went after wrasse at rame from memory managed a few then came back after dark and fished a spot called pier cellers after dark had to climb down some ladders tied to the cliff to get down there plagued by dogfish which wasnt to bad. then onto cawsands for daylight to see if we could manage a early plaice. Wouldnt of been so heavy but i had my floatation suit with me as it was still bitterly cold at night and for safty, + food and drink for 30 odd hours ontop of all the fishing gear and bait etc. Whole of plymouth and surounding areas fishings gone down hill over the last 10-15 years .

Hi Stewart. You must be excited to get started. My pack is a 48l capacity. My 1st week on the trail it was around 14kg but I am now carrying 12kg. This weight does include, my drone, camera and spare batteries. Without the cameras etc I would prob be around 10.5kg. For B&B I just use lateroom.com or Airbnb to try and find something in the areas I am planning to finish. Have a great time. Keep me updated on how you get on. Cheers
