That was an incredible piece of musical education for one 20m video. Your friend already knows exactly what all the options are going to sound like before he tries one which I, of course, do not. Nevertheless at least now I can think up a few new options to try even if takes me all day. What had me bookmarking this in my music/bass folder was when he used that implied 1-6-2-5 turnaround thing. It sounded great. I've literally never heard of doing that with a bass line, certainly never thought of it. I have now! 😄
This was an excellent video and super informative! Great concept for a video and that bass player really knows his shit. You sounded great too though! Really sweet video!
Great clip, thanks both!! Tracks with "producer" written parts sound a bit samey to me, one musical "mind" creating multiple parts. Fills up the gaps, but not as nicely as specialist players who bring their own ideas. Some great tips and insights too.
I'm thinking he is over playing this simple progression. I think it distracts from the basic boogie of the tune. Kinda like it's all about the bass. I don't think the jazz concept makes it any more desirable. Certain grooves just need to stay in the pocket. I preferred your bass lines.
@@johnmac8084 The question you are asking, it's obvious that pro bass players will be better than an decent amateur. I also think you over estimate your own skill level.

Great, very informative video. What the pro teaches here makes so much sense, and he shows how it works IRL.

Very interesting how much the bass can affect the mood, without people even being consciously aware of it
Goliath frames - very nice!
lol you both have such crazy hair, love it
"Even If You Can Bass Well Yourself"
Ha! Thanks. We can read and write music, but apparently still have difficulty with the English language.
his tone is great....almost sounds like double bass ,,,,now it swings .

Too jazzy. This is a boogie song. Keep it simple. Need a third bassplayer. Ha. No offense guys.
Kind of stupid , honestly.
What is?
