    The first sonatina is giving me the strongest flashbacks from my first ever competition. I’m feeling anxious out of nowhere just by remembering it lmao.

    No. 1 goes back to my very earliest years in music, so it is very special to me.
    As for the rendition of it; the first movement is first rate, perfect tempo, beautifully inflected. The latter two movements, well excecuted, are a bit too fast for my taste.
    It should be mentioned that Kuhlau in his time was very highly thought of by Beethoven, and some influences can be noted here and there.

    Thank you so much! Nine of my mornings have started splendidly with little Kuhlau installations. There's nothing for waking the brain like following along some sheet music, and time codes are just 👌 Looking forward to all the other Kuhlau videos on your channel. Many thanks! 🌸🎹

    Al principio parece que la sonata vaya a tener aires de Mozart 0:07 - 0:27
    Pero de repente llega la figura de Beethoven: 0:28 - 0:34
    Beethoven 5 sinfonía: 2:05 - 8:25
    8:46 Para elisa

    • @elaineblackhurst1509
      @elaineblackhurst1509 10 месяцев назад +1

      The following might seem a bit harsh, but it perhaps needs saying, so here goes.
      The Kuhlau piece is musically empty - a vapid exercise in nothingness; the Beethoven is little better, so regardless of technical demands, neither are really worth the effort, though some find comfort in Opus 49 as it’s the only Beethoven they can actually play.
      K545 is Mozart’s thinnest and simplest sonata, but has its charms particularly in the sublimely simple opening of the first movement, though the second is a monotonous exercise in endless Alberti bass; it’s a sonata facile - an little sonata for beginners - so please don’t anyone big it up into something it’s not,
      Haydn’s C major sonata Hob.XVI:35 is good fun, but again is an undemanding exercise in 18th century Classical keyboard technique intended for easy sales and making a quick £€$ or whatever.
      Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven all wrote keyboard masterpieces that stand with the greatest ever works conceived for the piano; Kuhlau didn’t, and the closest he gets to greatness is being mentioned in the same sentence as the other three.

    • @bartjebartmans
      @bartjebartmans  Год назад +4

      These are study pieces. So students can get prepared before they tackle the much harder Mozart and Haydn Sonatas. It is for that reason they are in that style. Has nothing to do with classicism, romanticism. They are not for nothing still widely used in the piano lessons worldwide.
