- Sugarcane is one of my most favourite drinks in India. I will drink sugarcane as often as I will lassi, and that's almost every day while travelling in India.
The sticks of sugarcane are put through the grinder several times to squeeze every last drop out of them. The fresh juice is then filtered and served in a glass. Yum yum!

In Kochi, Kerala... The rate is Rs. 30 for a small glass tumbler from Roadside shops and upto Rs.50+ in some good shops!! That's a lot more than Mumbai...

When I was at Costa Rica for summer vacation we went on a hike and stopped for lunch at a guys house. We ate and he told everyone about different kinds of plants and stuff. Sugar cane was one of them and he invited us to manually get all the sugary liquid from it. 2 people had to turn a hand turner on both sides of the machine at the same time to make it squeeze the juice out then he filtered it and gave us some. Honestly its really different and if you add lime juice its delicious 🤤

While growing up in the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts in the 80s and 90s, we used to go straight to the cane field with knives and machetes. Sit right there in the fields and ear the sugar cane. Had to look out for centipedes and ants though, would hate to get a bite or sting. The memories😊 by the time you got home, you didn't need dinner, which would anger your mom😂

Dale asked for a drink with no ice, ice takes volume so ordering without ice means the vendor would serve more Juice (which probably costs more than the ice).
Dale understood that he was asking for a drink that costs the vendor more, so he asked what it would cost. Vendor fairly increased price to offset the cost of serving a larger volume of juice, while staying close to the posted pricing.

In Peru I had a similar experience with a certain leaf, though it was way more punch than sugar, also had some fermented aspects to it. Was really good and would love for you to share that with others in a vid, as I was unable.

Service charge has also been done away with. Now thats included in Food prices, so that customers don't get a shock on seeing the bill.

@@JustAnotherBlader Sugarcane is naturally cold, like Watermelon. You don't necessarily need ice to eat/drink it with, and you still feel refreshed after. I never drank the sugarcane juice with ice.
