    I wonder if putting a rubber o-ring at the base of the wobble plus would keep socket from locking straight. 🔧

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 года назад +1

      I really liked your idea, so I tried it on 1/4” and 3/8”. One o-ring was not thick enough, so I stacked 2. Turns out the o-rings are too stretchy, so when I pushed, the o-ring stretched over the extension’s shoulder and away from the socket. Thanks for the suggestion, this one just didn’t work out.

    I have a set of the wobble plus extensions in 1/4” and 3/8” and absolutely LOVE them hands down my favorite non locking extensions! I have never had any issues with either sets of mine and I literally use mine almost all day, by far my most used extensions and I have a LOT of extensions!

    I got snap on wobble plus extensions in all 3 drive sizes as well. While I don’t hate or dislike them (I actually bought them cause a professor of mine had said he wished he had gotten the wobble plus but he got the straight extensions and recommended I get the wobble plus) If I had to do it again, I would go with a full set of straight extensions, and maybe one or two regular wobble extensions in each drive size.

  • @Mikey_Chopps
    @Mikey_Chopps Год назад +1

    I can 100% agree with you’ve dealt with there.
    Unless you’re a mobile mechanic or something, have a separate set of wobbles and regular extensions is a lot better than a mediocre do all version.
    With the wobble+ you spend so much time trying to put too much pressure on it, that you risk slipping off the fastener anyways causing more damage.

    Thanks for confirming a suspicion I had,
    I saw that wobble plus and thought it was kinda neat, but then thought what you showed might happen. If I need something like a wobble extension then that's all I want is a wobble extension. As it is I bought the 12 pt universal socket set from sunex, havnt used them, but even with those I feel like the wobble extension will provide greater torque because less angle.

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 года назад

      Hi, Grendel. That Sunex set you have looks pretty good, I bet you’ll like using them. You’re right about having more torque with less angle, but for me, the wobble extensions are good because I can use a regular socket which is way less bulky and can get into tighter places. Try them both, I bet you’ll find where universals work better also. Happy wrenching.

  • @brettalder3129
    @brettalder3129 3 года назад

    You are right. Sometimes you have to push to be sure the socket is fully seated on the fastener & stays there. Especially true with an impact, you don’t want it flopping around. The forward pressure can cause the socket to want to lock up in the non rotating mode when you don’t want it to.
    To each their own, but I don’t like the plus feature. The wobble alone is great.

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 года назад +1

      Well said Brett, thank you. I got a bit of criticism for it, but I’ll take that over a rounded fastener.

    • @damiensingh4950
      @damiensingh4950 Год назад

      @@ToolDemos quick question, the chance of it slipping into the fixed position is only when your applying force straight on to the socket, correct? If you were to apply force at the wobble angle, could it still slip into fixed? In your video you moved it back to an almost straight position when you applied force to push it into the fixed position, so its basically a by accident thing where if you stray too far back to the center it will slip into fixed and your safe on the full wobble when applying force ....if that makes sense? See i want to get wobble plus but dont have any tool truck to check them out. Using them to get to my oil filter on my 2021 ford f150 which is kinda at a steeper angle you have here. Plan to stack 3 wobbles to something around the same length your using to get to it and i wouldnt want it slipping into fixed when applying force at full wobble .

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  Год назад

      @@damiensingh4950 when you stack them like that, they’re less likely to push together when ‘bent’. If you’re just using a socket, it can push in at an angle if the socket slips a little on the fastener.

      It doesn’t always work like that , I have the wobble plus and In tight scenarios where I set up the extension wobble plus with socket on it on the head of the bold already and I can only fit one hand , I’ll put my electric ratchet onto the end of the extensions & push it in ( because that’s how you get it on in a real world scenario) and the fucking thing pushes the extension in and so I have to rip it all back out and try to gently push it in with one hand ! I can’t hold the extension and gently push the electric ratchet in. That’s where a Real Wobble actually comes into play because I can push into that no problem.
