- BBC digital broadcast of a great concert I was fortunate enough to attend. Enjoy folks......Setlist - Rock and Roll Star, Columbia, Digsys Dinner, Shakermaker, Bring It On Down, Up In The Sky, Slide Away, Married With Children, Sad song, Whatever, I Am The Walrus.
They were making the history of the following 30 years and didn't know yet
I don't think Alan White ever hit the skins as well on the Definitely Maybe songs as Tony did. Columbia, Slide Away and Supersonic all smack harder during this era than they ever would again.
So.true.....tony rocked.
Rock 'n' Roll Star - 0:44
Columbia - 5:24
Digsys Dinner - 10:12
Shakermaker - 12:45

Slide Away - 26:18
Cigarettes And Alcohol - 32:03
Married With Children - 36:03
Sad Song - 38:41
Whatever - 43:18
I Am The Walrus - 47:32
Thankyou
I wonder why a few tracks have been cut for this?. I'm pretty sure Noel did 2 acoustic tracks (can't remember which). Also sure they did Live Forever.
Columbia best version ever. I could listen to outro for 10 hrs whilst i sleep.
@@agesonjohanesburg2915 i will make you an hour long loop of that outro bro
@@yourmajestyshahenshah284 done.
Awesome gig..... the speed & ferocity of Bring It On Down & Up In The Sky was just epic. Tony's drumming faultless all the gig.

the instrument is kinda annoying
HelterSkelter A
Thanks for uploading.
Me and two Uni friends - John and Tom - got on a rickety old coach in Coventry to get to this gig on a cold December night. Quick Wimpy beforehand and then across the road to the Civic. We lost Tom within the first 30 seconds of Rock and Roll Star and only found him as I Am The Walrus was finishing.
Oasis were astonishing that night - tight, vibrant, everything you wanted them to be. I saw them a few times later in their career and, polished as they were, it never felt as ferocious and real as that night in the West Midlands.
It wasn't 'Britpop' to us, it was just incredibly joyful and a hell of time to be young and without worries. I remember turning to John and yelling during Digsy's Dinner: "These could be the best days of our lives".
And you know what? They were.
this was such a joy to read, cheers for that
Nice words mate.. You must now revise and specialise in staying alive.. In times like thesex
So well said, thanks!!
I was there! I was 29, and it's the first time I felt old at a gig!
as lembranças devem ser a pura nostalgia
Bet it was mostly filled with teenagers and college aged kids. Still must've been a great time. Stay young and invincible.
Wow you’re old as fuck.
Ok
Early year we’re definitely the best raw oasis
My first proper gig as a young un (15). Me and my mate had no idea what happened at gigs and my abiding memory is the Civic going proper mental on the first chord of the first track.
Then walking out at the end into the freezing cold, a sweaty mess, absolutely buzzing waiting for my mum and dad to pick us up!
I kind of fell out of love with Oasis once they got really popular but this was a great gig and a great introduction to gigging.
Had no idea it had been recorded so this is a great find.
Happy memories!
Live Forever.
Agree with every bit of that, except I was a mature 17. 😀
I love their 94, 95 shows alot more than their later ones.
They were just special and different, and Liam voice was so raw and fresh sounding like a choir boy just melts your heart.
Married With Children and Whatever just beautiful.
This is Oasis. Listening to this brings it all back - this is it, this is when the had the power and energy in them to take the World and they did. It makes my spine tingle to be honest - nothing has come anywhere near this in 25 years, and very little touches it prior to that. A force of nature and there was never any doubt as to what they would do. Blessed to have been around to witness it all first hand.
You don't know how lucky are you man
@@NotAlkar Honestly I do - I knew it at the time and it affected my life in such positive ways - it was way bigger than just the moment. Such a blessing to have experienced it and I was wide awake to all of it. Pure magic
This was my first ever gig aged 16. Changed my life forever. Oasis were sensational live in the early days. Thanks for sharing and giving me the chance to relive this precious and landmark moment in my life! I will never forget this night for the rest of my life!
Lucky man
Musta been awesome
Take me there, take me there, take me there... WHAT FOR!
sweet love with liam
Their punk/rock era, they just conquered new random little cities one by one.
Epic gig. Still one of the best I've ever been to. Truly a band in their prime.
Yeah
You can here the bass , how good is tony 🍀
35:57 I've always loved this song transition in these early gigs, it perfectly preserves the energy of the first song and carries it into the second one. Live By The Sea shows it really well too.
Gotta love Tony's drumming, oasis lost their edge when he left.
Alan white was better it was once bonehead and guisey left oasis were kind of fucked
Whitey was better imo if you're saying Oasis lost their edge after Tony left that means they became crap after Definitely Maybe haha
They lost there punk edge, which honestly I think is what they wanted. I would’ve liked to hear Alan white play songs like bring it on down and fade away to see if they could’ve stayed punk but he was definitely needed for the morning glory direction
@@michaelpaul3481 Alan did play both songs live. For example in Glasgow 2001 + Berlin 2002 (Fade Away) & Munich 2003 (Bring it on down)
Sharrock > Tony > Whitey > Ringo's son
Being from Wolves i can say we were really spoiled with the Civic and the halls round the back .. some of the best nights in my life have been spent at the civic seeing some of the best bands of the 90's .. thanks for this .
This recording is mind blowing. I listened to this on a really good system in my truck and was amazed at how well Guigsy is mixed, especially on Rock 'n' Roll Star...his bass is booming.
This drummer drove the band . More energy.
That's just the music not the drummer tony was a shit drummer who could only do basics
@@gaspanic5279 I’m assuming you could drum better?
@@898joker1 i dont have to even touch the drum to know that tony was shit
@@gaspanic5279 sure, whatever you say mate.
Tony was never that bad of drummer. Everyone simply writes him off simply because the potato (Noel) said he was bad
My god Slide Away is soo satisfying Live! I wish it was this up beat in studio version, would’ve definitely contested even Live Forever
Liam's voice was at it's best in 94 in my opinion. I hear so many people say it was at it's best in 96-98, but it started sounded forced and scratchy by then in my opinion. In 94 it sounded so effortless and natural, yet amazing. Not to mention, Liam could still sing the higher notes. By 95, Noel started singing the high notes coz Liam couldn't reach them anymore. Regardless, I love Oasis and always will. Live Forever x
In 95 all he didn’t do was the falsetto on live forever. He did the rest just fine.
Liam's *voice* was best 1994, but his technical skill i.e. how he sang was best in '96. If you listen to Glasto '94 his voice is excellent but he doesnt really know how to sing dyou know what I mean?
2006
His early 1995 voice was on par with 1994 in my opinion. It wasn't until the Earls Court gig when it started becoming a bit raspy.
Liam has always been an incredible rock vocalist. He really delivers and surprisingly never falters and always stays in tune.
Worse than an Amazon fake review, I love oasis but this is a false statement
Until 2000, and that’s being liberal
Fookin best live Oasis I've heard. Columbia & Slide Away as others have said. stunning. And I've almost heard them all as it's an obsession, lol!
Thanks for uploading. Huge Oasis fan here. First time hearing this. The band is on fire here. Epic set. Great sound mix as well. Thank you!
One of the best Oasis' Gigs! The best Slide Away, the best Bring it on down! Simply amazing
This is the kind of gig the guys who are saying that without Liam, Oasis would have been that great, have to listen ! Liam is so fuckin' great there, "Slide Away" and "Cigarettes and Alcohol" are so amazing on this gig and so carried by his voice !
Bring it on down rocks !
best live version of columbia by far
Agreed. The greatest version of their greatest song imo.
This gig sounds unbelievable. Voice and guitar sound amazing. Anybody that was lucky enough to see them in 1994/5 - very lucky people. Perfect set and sound - I would have signed this band on the opening of Rock and Roll Star !!!
26:18 - One of the best live performances of Slide Away in Oasis history, imo!
Shay Xylander I was just thinking the same thing, pretty crazy I never heard before
I remember this being broadcast the first time around. I taped it and played it non stop. One week later I saw them at Liverpool Royal Court. They were brill and I remember Liam wearing the same jacket he wore on totp the night before for Whatever. What days!
Sad they didn't play Live Forever at this gig but other than that omission it's a fantastic recording!
WOW GREAT QUALITY, THANKS SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS GIG !!!
incredible performance
Fucking Awesome.... Especially after a few.
Great upload mate, thank you!
Wow....... This is Class Man!!!!
Married with children is biblical here
Totally loved it
Super sound ! Thanks for uploading this great gig. This and Southend Cliffs 1995 are the best early Oasis gigs by far
The greatest version of Columbia
Raw Oasis sounds 🇬🇧🤘🖤🍻🍻
surprisingly one of the best performances
Great upload! I got the National Express coach down from Derby to this gig. Oasis had been on Later with Jools Holland the night before and I remember Noel mentioned it at the gig.
Back when Liam could sing live as good / better than on the records...
Not true sir
He’s getting better man!
the best oasis gig in the definitely maybe era .. just mindblowing !!!
One of the best pre morning gigs out there, probably prefer this to Southend. They were on fire that night, Tony’s drumming was so fast 👌🏼
Maybe my favorite recording of a live garage band ever...
Slide Away perfeita como sempre
heard alot of bootlegs of oasis in my time but this 1 is defo the best
Cool , yep I went to this show it was awesome .. so much energy , so powerful . Glad I found this .
Sure you did
fkn hell this is as good as it gets
This is Jason...he's from Wolverhampton...he's got 10 kids...and he's 49
Zak Starkey should have listened to this gig before Glastonbury 2004 and taken notes on the speed
They sound fucking pristine!!! 😍
My god they were on form here.
it rocks
8:20 Lydon
What I've heard is not what I hear
I can see the signs but I've only one ear!!
Best vocal I have heard for rock and roll star both Liam and Noel sound great
Love how psychedelic they were on the first album. I think of Def Maybe as "Psychedelic British Grunge" 🤘🏾🤘🏼🤘👨🎤🌠🥄
Not grunge, just British guitar rock.
@@fshoapsI agree. Nothing psychedelic about it in my opinion. Plug in the Gibson and let’s gooooo
Oasis é o máximoooooo viva Oasis haha 🎤🎸
Soooo glad this has been put up for proper Oasis fans to take in and absorb! This live gig epitomises exactly the raw blend of what all the band members have - that is talent in their own individual way. Almost like a recording, but live to an audience - amazing and beyond class 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Liam sounds exactly the same as the record.... Amazing performance... Plus the band sound tight as fuck.... Always loved the original line up... For me they became too arty farty and lost that early punk edge.
Alright mate, totally agree! Tony McCarrol is drumming here ain't he? 👍
@@philnoble2218 Yep
This material was written, rehearsed and refined for a long time. You simply dont get to do that when you are touring all the time and having to produce new songs. That's why they call it the 'second album' thing.
Seen them the following night in cardiff
back when music had balls!
Yeah indeed.
Privileged to have been there in a less than full civic hall, when musically they were at their raw best. Awesome.
Before the hype and arrogance kicked in, and the bandwagon jumpers spoiled it.
From comments it reads like it was 3x full
I remember everyone just standing around watching the support band then the place went mental when Oasis came on ,great night.
What was the support band's name please?
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 Supermarket Police
@@willhissettmusic seriously?! that was their name? lol
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 nah ahah, that's my band, i was just chatting pure bollocks
@@willhissettmusic lol
Who the fook are Alan, Gem and Andy. This is the best they've ever sounded.
Liam's so f*cking good on this that he got the words wrong in Married With Children :)
Fuck Bring It own Down sounds fantastic!
Rough and ready the oio from Manchester and mr. Brown ian man Taz and scfc green hill lad 💚💯✌️🎸🎶
ayeee!!
I was there I miss the civic
Can't believe they sacked this drummer
Noel always said Tony couldnt get BIOD right. Well it sounds like he's got it right here.
He probably couldnt play wonderwall and some of the newer stuff.. But shouldve stuck by him and worked the sound round his drumming cause the way he played noone plays like him.. Very choppy but it works and drives the band perfect for oasis.. We all know noel was a controlling cunt that sacked everyone. Genuinely nice guy aswell tony.
@@Tank1 I think he just had it in for Tony tbh as I've heard every complaint under the sun about his drumming that is just wrong. People say he can't keep time and yet he's basically metronome perfect for at least all the 94 shows (including the infamous Whisky A-Go-Go show). He's a very musical drummer who had a lot more to offer than Alan "Same Fill Every Time" White.
He struggled to play to a click track. And when you have to make that big crossover record, and time is money, if your drummer can't play exactly in time, then you're fucked.
fooking great
rubbish1018
There's a whole reunion of people who were there at this gig in this comment section lol
Woah! Whatever on this version is rocking! And they even have Bonehead playing the start.
"It's hard to believe that in early 1994 they had no agent, no money and no manager" except Marcus Russell & Ignition Management - their long time management - jumped on board in May 1993 after they signed to creation through ties with Johnny Marr.
People love a good fairytale
Did somebody have this recording splitted in tracks? Thanks
Fuck its a shame that all the site afterwards made a lot of people forget how good they were for those few years
Whatever is fucking intense
Shakermaker!
Best ever ! End of 🙌
And then almost a year later they sold out earls court.. madness
+alreadythere1993 crazy right? their rise to the top was spectacular
And We Where There!!!! Class Times x
Up in the sky is punk here
Anyone remember someone throwing a shoe onstage!?! Liam not too impressed!
I was there...can anyone remember who supported???
How in the utter Fack have I never heard this?!
Does anyone have a download for this ?
im fookin dumb. But here's the link sorry for giving it 2 years later. blonderazorblade.blogspot.com/2017/04/oasis-wolverhampton-civic-hall-94.html
MP3JUICE FOR FREE!!!
Don't think they played 'Whatever' live too many times...
36:00
Did they really not play Live Forever and Supersonic? Or were they cut from the broadcast for some reason (gig seems a bit short)
Keeping the shorter gigs would of been better in the long run. Liam powers the hell out of his singing and it sounds amazing but it's probably a killer on his voice.
This gig is fking great, but he's already stopped hitting the high notes at this point
I don't no and I don't care all I no is u take me there
what for?
Alan was probably the better drummer technically but listening to this you can hear Tony was a basher and gave Oasis a raw spirit they lost as they got more professional
I have the ticket! who was the special guests supporting Oasis? i forget the name. Thank you.
@@theoristlabs the flaming lips? i honestly don't know! i remember the support act.. my first gig was in 1993 at 15
😃
Even on earth = Liam's voice.
