B-17 pilot flying in a WW2 combat zone aged only 25 years old! I was still living with my parents when I was 25 and living a cushy life in the 1990s. This is the reason we must never forget the sacrifices these incredible young men and women gave, barely out of their teens so many gave their lives to give us the freedoms we cherish to this day.
My family is from the East End of London and my grandfather was a plumber who worked at the docks by day and was an ARP warden by night. ARP wardens were responsible for keeping civilians safe during WW2, they checked people didn't waste water, didn't allow lights to be seen and they attended when houses were bombed to search for survivors and victims. My father was just 6 months old when my grandfather was killed actively searching for survivors during in a bombing raid over the East End of London in 1941. My grandfather is homoured in Westminster Abbey's book of remembrance for his sacrifice.

Thank you for showing me things never known or conceived before about the history of the wars that I've never been aware or seen before. I am an instant fan and look forward to seeing more of your work/collections of photos, videos, and events.

You are wrong about the death of Richard Ira Bong He survived WW2 and became a test pilot flying a P-80 Shooting Star. After taking off his jet had a flame out and crashed.

Dennis Copping and his P-40 ? He was flying a P-40 to another base for battle damage repair. He diverted from the others in his flight. They tried to get his attention, but he didn't respond. Best guess is, he may been overcome by a carbon monoxide leak, or just went to sleep, and when he came to, the rest of his flight was no where to be seen. He made a wheels up landing on very rough terrain. He set up a small camp, next to the aircraft, and made some attempt to stitch together a working radio from parts taken from the wreck. It didn't work. Some remains were found a ways from the aircraft. Some bones, uniform scraps and some buttons and a few coins. DNA could not be gotten out of the few bones found, because it had been destroyed by the deserts high temperatures. The Aircraft is on display at an Egyptian War Museum.

The first time of decoding the Enigma was in Poland

The false radio traffic was down to the Royal Corps of Signals. The messages were recorded on wire recorders. At the end of each message was an electronic signal which changed slightly the frequency and power of the following message, which made the signal appear to be coming from a different location. The script for these messages (which were recorded en masse prior to Operation Body Guard going into effect) was written by Dennis Wheatley. The cracking of the Enigma cypher machine started with the Poles. The work was given to the British, who carried on and improved upon the Polish mathematicians work.

The P-40 was photographed several times before it was discovered and actually appeared in an issue of National Geographic magazine. Richard Ira Bong died testing a P-80 in 1945

Enigma machines were commercially available for financial transactions via an encrypted code, similar to what is used today.

IEEE Milestone Description During the 1930s, a trio of Polish mathematicians Marian Rejewski (1905 - 1980), Henryk Zygalski (1907 - 1978), and Jerzy Różycki (1909 - 1942) solved the German Enigma cipher machine and broke Enigma messages.

The trinity project doomed humanity, i dont think it was a good thing at all.
They were messing with stuff they didnt really understand and didnt understand the long term consequences to our planet and us.
I personally think f they are still alive, they should be jailed for what the did.
They blew them up in our atmosphere, the air we breath and in the oceans, the fish we eat and place we like to swim and spend time with our families.
    So thanks for that.
