    Just picked up the WorkSharp Professional Precision Adjust knife sharpening system last week. WOW. Couldn't possibly be any happier with it. Worth every single penny. The learning curve is very minimal, the hardware is a big upgrade over the original and super easy to use, and the results are insane level sharp. Great tutorial video, thank you! Really enjoyed nerding out to this!

    Well, it's 10 months later, but I just purchased this sharpener, for the very same reasons as you. But the icing on the cake was not the sharpener but rather the storage case. I just bought one with a 15% discount (not $30 but $34) and your directions were spot on. Thank you again for the great advice.

    I received my Worksharp Professional Precision Adjust yesterday and already have gone through 7 Band-Aids. Yeah, I need a little more practice. I've sharpened about 6 knives so far and as you can guess, the edges are wicked sharp. If I had the $$ I'd get the microscope but for my use a finger seems to be working fine, except for needing the band-aids. And the Apache case idea is great. I already have one of these cases and will put to use with this kit. Thanks.

    To put the price in perspective, though, if you took a chef’s knife to a professional sharpener, it would likely cost $75-80 each. So sharpening only four knives the device would have paid for itself. The professional uses larger diamond plates, which should last longer and are easier to replace individually, compared with the Tri-brasIve that would have to replace three at once. It comes with the digital angle gauge, the support block for larger, heavier knives, as well as the magnetic table for smaller blades like the 58mm Swiss Army Knife. I think that the Precision Adjust/Elite is a great option for beginners, but this is a logical step up, but still very easy to use.

    I'm just glad that more good sharpeners are becoming available so more knife people can put better edges on knives. More choices are always better. That being said I love my KME and all of the options for it. There are so many aftermarket things for it it's crazy.

    The original one worked wonders on my knives. I had one knife that turned into a folding pry bar basically and I got an edge back onto that thing. I recommend the Worksharp precision adjust to everyone.

    I have the original precision adjust and when I saw this, I immediately thought about upgrading, but the I looked at the price. In my opinion the original may still be the best value, $300 usd compared to $150 for what are in my opinion just quality of life improvements is not worth it.

    • @charliebaker1427
      @charliebaker1427 Год назад +2

      i mean quality of life isnt all it offers, it cuts the needs for the 3rd party parts that make it more viable and it lets you sharpen multi tool mini blades

  • @maxglide

    If you clamp a long knife at the heel, there can be a 6’ difference from heel to tip, more if it’s a round tip. Wide blades cause the knife to angle downward at the slightest pressure, further increasing angle.

    RE the sandpaper holding ability you could just wrap it tightly either partialy or all the way around the magnetic diamond plat and if the magnet wont hold with the sandpaper then add some rubber bands or zip tie the outer ends.

Should have my Precision Pro here this week.... Have you considered doing a vid on using adhesive backed Lapping Film strips on the Ceramic Plate?

      @@maxlvledchey man, sorry to be a pain in the ass. That little digital angle finder thing that they give you. Do you think that would be necessary with the kme as well? It would make sense that it would be. Both have markings for angles but why would you need that if they were totally accurate. It’s probably for blade placement in the clamp I would think? Is that why? Also do you know if they sell those digital angle things separately? I’ve often wondered when using the kme how accurate the angle settings really are because if you put the blade in a different place it can change things. I would think anyway. Maybe I’m wrong. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.

      @Origins master totally! I took the right measure to ensure as best as possible that I got one. Made a direct link to the launch site on my phones' home screen set an alarm for 1pm my time, and literally bought it at work. The site kept crashing and giving a 502 gateway error from the traffic and it was even struggling to process my card.. However I didn't give up and like 23 minutes later I got thru to checkout and made a successful purchase. Needless to say I'm excited. Wondering what number of the 450 that I got.
