Ed, this was a great video and it was very helpful to me personally. However, I have to strongly advise against the procedure that was instructed at 8:50 roughly. Do not use "include" to run the provided manta m8p config file. Instead just copy and paste it into the existing printer.cfg file below "[include mainsail.cfg]". Otherwise, when trying to PID tune or PROBE_CALIBRATE your Z_offset for bltouch, the "SAVE_CONFIG" command will not work at all in the console. I would add that as a pinned comment as this will create headaches for some. This was my first time using klipper after using marlin for years.

Thank you for that tip. I also found problems when including other files and Klipper. I can't remember what it was but I know I had to put the info into the "printer.cfg"

Thank you alot , I just couldn't get klipper to installed in the MCU (Manta M8P) (also its my first time with klipper) after 2 hectic days of getting the serial address of MCU and getting the CB1 working with wifi , the MCU wont Flash with the ssh software and i couldn't find any solution then i remembered your video and returned to it and wolla , also i am running the lastest OS of BTT (2.3.3) and faced the same issues that you solved. Again thanks alot you are a life saver

did you end up using the verson of cb1 firmware he suggests aswell?

    • @jawadahmedbutt2845

@@tylerlane6808 no I realized I did many hardware mistakes more than software ones, you could just download the lastest Cb1 kernel and follow the instruction manual (this video thoroughly follows the instruction manual ), always make sure the SD cards are of great quality good SD cards will take like 5 secs to boot and a minute to flash, bad SD cards will give u a lot of trouble. Best of luck

10:50 was the solution for me to get my CB1 to talk to the MCU.
I had tried flashing, DFU flashing nothing seemed to work until I put this in the config.
    Thank you.
I have not found a single writeup where this was clearly documented.

thanks for the video, but the part I am stuck on is the firmware which you didnt really touch on at all. the 'firmware.bin' file never converts into FIRMWARE.CUR so I am concerned that this is stopping my printer from running

Thanks for the great tutorials - I received a new M8P yesterday from BIQU but it seems to be a new version 1.1 with CAN and some other added features. Hope you can get an upgraded board to illustrate the CAN setup. My build is still about 2-3 weeks out waiting for additional parts.

I wish you would do a full setup for the manta m8p v1.1 focusing on canboot setup and Ebb36/42. Anything I’ve found on the subject is not for the newbie’s out here.

Awesome step by step guide. I would suggest that you break the video up so people can go to the segment they need. I have had the v1.0 board for over about a year. The included instructions were not very clear and mostly in Chinese. I have so many ideas to use with this board and didn't know where to begin. 😁 Again, great job with the video.

I have just tried this procedure and when I copy past ls /dev/serial/by-id/* I get No such file or directory.
I had to follow the instructions in the BTT User manual - this makes you use Mobaxterm to run the make menuconfig, then the make command to create a klipper.bin file.
This you then have to rename to firmware.bin, then flash the board with the new firmware.
Then follow your procedure once again.

    • @EdwardBraiman

Skipped make, because they posted firmware.bin as a different name on website for BTT GitHub. Also the named firmware.bin incorrectly.

Some years ago i told u to try klipper, too.
Whats your conclusion wich is easier to handle for configuration changes? Marlin + VSCode + Flash always after a minor change. Or the printer.cfg in Mainsail OS( or Fluid) and a restart of klipper.

so when using the CB1 (or CM4) the MCU card slot is not used? The board gets flashed through the CB1 connection?
    thank you.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  Год назад

Either CB1 or CM4 can be flashed via non-mcu SD card slot, unless it has emmc memory on either, then it needs to be flashed via USB connection with switches set.
