Grateful for the great video! I've been following the sport for decades and yet, I found things I didn't know. Of course, more videos will be needed. In the next opportunity, I suggest some space for our double champion Emerson Fittipaldi. The nickname he earned at Interlagos, "Rato" (rat), is self-explanatory when you see a photo of the guy. He was one of the few pilots who knew a lot about mechanics, like Fangio. This made it easier for him to bond with the team and also allowed him a very efficient strategy. In some way, Emerson caused opponents to force their engines beyond the technical limit. They broke and Emerson won. I did not know of another pilot capable of this, in a systematic way.
@@HiBoa The documentary isn't really one it's biased as hell if you watch it pretend its a Hollywood movie because it lets facts out or simply turn them around to glorify Ayrton.
Mercedes kinda announced there f1 engine is making over a thousand last year when they announced the project one, saying the car "total output from the hybrid set-up exceeds 1,000bhp"
Hallison Michel They are just calling it '''Party Mode'' now because its fun going fast, they have the best quali mode since 2014 no doubt about that. Every power unit has a quali mode no matter what anyone says, but not every power unit can be as linear and as powerful as Mercedes can without destroying the unit. I don't agree with Ferrari being half a second behind. Seb didn't have a great lap, and in the race they should be similar but we will never know because its hard to pass and if you want to overtake you basically have to go into quali mode and hurt the power unit and you only have 3 power units for the full season, so expect many races to be done midway. In other words P1 T1 wins the race most of the time if there are no yellow flags. And this video does not get anything wrong it's just missing a lot of things, like rule change in 2009, Red Bull domination etc. Which is ok because it is Up to Speed but i feel like 2-3 more facts would make the video a lot better. Perhaps they should have done the last 10 years a bit more detailed so you are actually Up to Speed.
He also spoke as if Lancia started Ferrari in F1 (while Gianni Lancia and Vittorio Jano gave just the D50 that was modified and it was renamed 801), while it was Alfa Romeo that gave the cars (with the mighty P3 in the list) to Scuderia Ferrari from 1929 to 1947. So for someone that doesn't know Formula 1 and its history (since when it started as Formula Grand Prix in 1906) can understand and learn a wrong thing.
I read somewhere honda's engine for mclaren (2017) reached 750kw (about 1000hp) and it was at last year's preseason testing. Assuming the rest had more and they have been in development for a year for this season, all current engines have a bit more than just 1000hp
diazzsama If 950 HP is more or less Renault's figures how can be Honda around 1000 like Mercedes and Ferrari? Honda is underpowered so it had more like just more than 900 HP. Obviously these figure are in no way accurate as being current F1 cars racing.
I'm a huge NASCAR fan here and I gotta say, not only I love NASCAR, but therefore I'm impressed with how the F1 concepts work! Both a NASCAR and an F1 guy here!
I mean... If you've got some spare cash, I don't see why you couldn't. Starting/running costs/reliability would be a bit of a bastard though, so probably stick with one of the older engines *;)*
Pretty nice video! All in all pretty much on point. The correction on KERS was in the comments allready. They also replaced that wooden plank with metallic skid blocks, to bring back the sparks from the 80s and 90s. They still have the same function as the wooden planks though, but it looks pretty darn impressive, when the cars begin to spark on long straights!
I would be interested in like "60 minute" Up To Speed specials! I love these video's but get sad when they're over...I need more info haha Keep it up guys!!!

@@filmandfirearms the 919 doesn't have a record on any track F1 runs. Vettel beat the 919's record at Spa 3 months later. The only reason they had it was double DRS made it fast as shit on the straights. That's why they only took it to Spa and not Shanghai, Cicruit of the Americas, and Silverstone. Those were all tracks the original 919 ran, but they knew it wouldn't have a chance to beat F1 on a twisty track.

Mason Bakken The racing I think was the best we’ve seen since as far as I can remember. We had two classics last year (those being Brazil and Germany) and good mid-field battles. While I’m for the new regulations, I’m not expecting a re-invention of the racing as it is already some of the best in motor racing. People always say the cars are the issue when the tracks play a much bigger role. Barcelona is still a bore fest in F2 and GT racing while Interlagos always produces brilliant races wether it’s F1 or WEC.
Josh Goodman That Would Be Cool Since In 1964 The GT40 Was Built For The 24hrs Of Le Mans And There Was The GT90 Concept And The GT And Other Endurance GT Models And The 2017 GT
In 2014, they already used ERS, the more advanced version of KERS. KERS is only Kinetic, while ERS also converts Heat energy into power with their MGU-H, although they also converts Kinetic energy into power just like KERS with their MGU-K. Also, in 2014, the total combined horsepower was around 800 BHP, not 750 BHP. And these extra power from the ERS is not only on certain times, since unlike KERS, ERS is automatic and constantly delivers extra powers non stop. While before that, in 2006-2013 with the 2.4 l naturally aspirated V8 was about 850 BHP. And in the late 3.0 l naturally aspirated V10 era in 2002-2005 the cars have around 900-950 BHP. And since 2016 until now, the cars have around 1000 BHP.
Yeah, and ERS and KERS are very different. KERS was a select deployment system where the drivers had to push a button for it to activate where ERS is a constant deployment system where it's constantly delivering extra power at different levels selected by the driver

Can you guys take over ESPN Coverage?
Can we get a vid on the donut medias staff rides?
Yea that's a good idea
Let's comment this on every donut media video
It would be pretty underwhelming tbh
Donut Media nah man I’d watch it unless everyone drives a Prius
Donut Media well, we can always ramp it up like, who's the better driver
This was my favorite episode I'm so glad it's available again
Up to speed Ayrton Senna
watch his doc.
Even his death change the sport .
Hugo Madoz YES!!!!!!!!!
His doco senna covers all of his f1 career from the debut to just after his death
@@HiBoa The documentary isn't really one it's biased as hell if you watch it pretend its a Hollywood movie because it lets facts out or simply turn them around to glorify Ayrton.

Nothing about Jules Bianchi? And nothing about how the current cars also get close to 1000HP?
Finally I can watch this after taken out from yt
Glad I’m not the only one
Same. I thought I would never have a chance to watch it.
Same here ive been waiting forever lol
matthew natividad why was this video removed from yt 🤔🤔🤔
The planks are no more wood Madden but titanium mad, that explain the sparks we see now. Then engines are rated at about 1000hp for Mercedes. ;)
zcsb1 you are wrong. They are still wood but have titanium strips on them.
You are both wrong. They are wooden composite these days. Not just a plank of wood. And yes it has titanium skid plates on it.
DelSolTypeR1987 still, the titanium plate wear is controlled now.
As far as I know, sparks are due to the titanium bolts that are used to attach the wooden plank. Please correct me if I am wrong :)
I'm a huge NASCAR fan here and I gotta say, not only I love NASCAR, but therefore I'm impressed with how the F1 concepts work! Both a NASCAR and an F1 guy here!
I‘m so glad to see my favorite episode be available again! ^^
This would make a great series!
*Looks at playlist with 38 episodes of Up to Speed*

"Pot sucked in the 70s"
Yea they were basically smoking grass
Did it suck in the 70's or have we just gotten way too good at it now?
Plz plz plz do the Toyota celica and finish the trio
I would be interested in like "60 minute" Up To Speed specials! I love these video's but get sad when they're over...I need more info haha Keep it up guys!!!

The cars are still the fastest cars in the world around a track. The Porsche 919 only beat F1 lap records by going outside of its regulations
@@SARCASMlC Oh, I didn't realize Vettel broke the record. Although that does somewhat throw the Ferrari engine even more into question because they managed to somehow be faster than double DRS while having pretty average straight line speed at many other tracks
@@filmandfirearms He did it in 2018, three months after the 919 initially took the record. RB/Merc/Ferrari beat it in qualifying every year more or less.
Would love to see an Isle of Man TT video.
Jonathan Norris Yoo definitely Isle of Man!!

Betto Bello it sucks they’re postponing it. i was really excited to see the new cars and the closer racing🥺
The halo saved a life yesterday.
Up to speed Ford GT

I have been really interested in F1 lately but dont know anything about it so this video helped me a lot thank you ☺️
when this poped on my list I was like "Have I watched this episode?"
Just finish up the Toyota trio and do the Celica please.

Hi, I'm from 5 years in the future, year is 2023.
Redbull is now first, with Ferrari still following close from behind.
And there's a relatively new guy called Max Verstappen, also running for RedBull, which is winning so much that it's getting bored, just as Schumacher.
And Hamilton is always at 4th or 5th now...
Wow, a two years old episode that I have never watched
Ramchargers needs to become the next Dad joke

TimothyCow23 nothing can replace the dad jokes😂
Can’t they live in harmony
Thing i learned watching this series:
1. America did not get a certain car or they got it with reduced power.
2. James need to talk to his dad, like really.
11:50 that's some mighty foreshadowing there
F1 has gotten a bit dull in the last few seasons, but there is no denial that it sits at the top as the fastest, most prestigious and innovative kind of racing.
Flat Out Supercars last season was fantastic up until Ferrari/Vettel imploded
I prefer nascar. Sloppy, reckless but still involving very advanced machinery. It’s a good mix of well skilled drivers and some roughneck attitude.
This season has quite a bit of promise. Ferrari look strong like last year. Red bull and McLaren both look like they could be contenders. HAAS some how pulled something out despite those pit accidents
Yeah because every single race prior to these past few seasons have always been mega adrenaline pumping exciting right?
You gugs should do a video called "Everything you need to know about becoming a Racecar driver"
You forgot to mention DRS. There was also an F1 driver named Jules Bianchi who died five years ago many months after the 2014 Japanese GP. Rest in peace Jules.
I swear James I am one of your biggest fans, I love all of your videos and I really love Formula 1. Definitely one of your best videos if not one of Donuts best videos. I love you man
