Fauna fangirling over Solanum is too cute 😂.

the quantum moon was super cool, and she read about the jellyfish, she also got to the inside of the interloper, crazy progress in this one
Her curiosity of the WHS is building up, yet also dismissed by an utter disgust and apparently a lack of the WHS's existence
And the OPC is just "broken and busted" 😄

@@Megadoomface In her defense, I was the same way with the jellyfish, it was probably the hardest thing in the game for me to work out.
unironically this Let's Play has been a far more organic experience without chat backseating. every discovery, though not always thorough and methodical, has been natural and demonstrates both fauna's problem solving skills and the elegance of outer wilds' design
Outer Wilds is not a particularly good game for streaming, and an excellent one for Let's Plays for this reason. When a large portion of the gameplay is processing information and theorizing ways to use it, having a chat interjecting heavily breaks the flow. Hopefully she follows up with the DLC quickly, so she has the chance to enjoy it properly without spoilers. =)
Also, by not having to avoid spoilers, it has freed Chat to go nuts and to also discuss the game with itself. The change has been good for both the game content and the Chat content.

@@Zap_Rocket while I agree, we also got a contender for the best moment in streaming when Ame landed on the sun station, so watching these things live while the streamer can communicate with chat is I think still a valid and valuable application for this game. people will be people and ruin part of the experience, but I don't think we should avoid streaming it altogether because of it.
So glad chat can't ruin it, every other streamer I've watched play this game had a worse experience for it.
The meeting with Solanum remains one of my favourite moments in gaming, and one of my favourite first contacts in media in general. There's plenty of epic, emotional and/or beautiful moments in gaming, but there's nothing quite like first contact in Outer Wilds. All the joy and amazement and subtle horror that you might expect from first contact, not felt through a movie character or with the action game expectation of imminent violence, but as an incredible personal payoff after hours of searching, curiosity and wonder. And then afterwards, the connection between two curious souls, barely there but all the more precious for it. "I hope you won't mind if I consider you as a friend." I love it so much.

I feel the same way. I've been waiting since the beginning of her playthrough for this moment.
In a way, I wish I had recorded my own reaction to meeting Solanum so I could relive those emotions, but seeing Fauna finding her and everything that happened after gives me something very similar all over again
I'm so glad that Fauna was able to have a Meet and Greet with her oshi.

In this episode Fauna meets her oshi who sadly already went through 5/6th of her own graduation.
Fauna also learns that reading her ship's log attentively is actually useful!
Fauna: Biggest fan in the solarsystem for a Nomai, read all her engravings. Also Fauna: unintentionally bumps Nomai bodies in zero-g on every opportunity she's met one

Her meeting with Solanum went about as I expected it to go, love that reaction. Also the way she found out about being able to do 2 blue rocks by fangirling over YOU + ME is too funny
This episode is a roller coaster; the heart-warming fangirling, the continued blindness in the Interloper, the recovery from said blindness leading to discovery, the resolve to observe her environments more carefully... only to immediately *not* do that for the WHS and Orbital Probe Cannon. What a wild ride.
Nice! Two of my favorite lore moments both in the same episode. I can see why you were excited for this one. The Quantum Moon is so cool and I'm glad to see you felt the same hype I did at that part.

Thanks for the stream, Fauna! This episode in particular really highlights the two sides of the playthrough:
at first, we get incredibly cute excited kirin getting the lore drops from her oshi Solanum and theorizing about what it all could mean,
and for a while, we get Fauna being very dedicated to exploring places she's been before instead of trying out new things at the edges of her understanding,
but in the end, she remembers the Lakebed cave and compensates with a little more patience! Didn't seem like the revelation really hit her that time though
She's got some good theories about what to do next! Looking forward to seeing her put them to the test!
This must be one of the greatest lets plays of this game ever, the fangirling at solanum was so funny, and the WHS still being a mystery at this point is so good, can't wait to finally see the reaction to that
The Solanum encounter was so freaking awesome dude, THE LOREYour reaction to her was so wholesome too, nerdy kirin fangirling over her was so precious

Today's episode wound p being pretty exciting, and it helps to show how close we are to the end of the whole experience. Can't wait for tomorrows part and the inevitable end of the series.
And on this day, Solanum was mildly bewildered yet charmed and amused by a strange green-haired creature squeaking at her a whole lot.
My theory on why Hearthians weren't effected by the Ghost Matter:
When the ghost matter hit, the Hearthians were still small creatures living in the caves on Timber Hearth. Caves bored into the same rock that the Nomai used to make the casing of the Ash Twin project. A casing used to completely seal off the Ash Twin project. So the rock kept the early Hearthians sealed off from the ghost matter. But that's just a theory.
You've almost got it. The ghost matter instantly permeated most matter to cover the solar system, and slowly dissipated over the past 250k years.
I can't remember if it's the tutorial area or the DLC that explicitly tells you where ghost matter can't be. Or maybe it was neither.
@@Deadgye It's never told directly but you can observe the phenomenon on Giant's Deep and the DLC (where I think it was relevant for a puzzle)
ghost matter does not affect things underwater (you can see this in Gabbro's island's ghost matter tunnel when the island submerges after falling from space). Hearthians were fish/amphibians back when the interloper entered the system.
This episode was so adorable and wholesome. Its stuff like this that makes this Lets Play so worth watching even after playing it for yourself.
She was so cute this episode. I always love when Fauna gets to excited about something and you can feel her love and happiness outside the screen

Solanum our beloved!! The moment you reach the Quantum Moon and meet her there is one of my favorite moments in the game too, it's such a surprise and a very cool moment to find this character you've been following through your journey! Fauna's excitement over meeting her outer wilds oshi was infectious and so cute! ...you might want to give her a little more personal space though, having someone you just met ask to see your face and tail is a bit sudden!
And Fauna finally found her way through those dang ice tunnels, learning the tragic end of the Nomai... it was quite an emo episode altogether, but that's one of the great things of this game too.
This episode is so precious, Fauna fangirling is so cute Solanum best girl and I'm glad Fauna think the same

Some very big reveals this episode. Finally got to the north of the QMoon, and we learned what happened to the Nomai. Only a few mysteries remain: Giant's Deep Core, Nomai Mask Vault, what's left of the Orbital Probe Cannon, and I think that's it. Crazy that we're so close to the end. I have a theory on how this will end... Fauna read something a few eps back that I don't think she realized the full weight of, and I think it's connected to the ending. Gonna keep it to myself though, because I want to be surprised.

Nice that Fauna learned the lesson of exploring her surroundings with only 3 episodes left to beat the game. And I kinda hope now that Fauna will beat the game without ever finding the white hole station that is right in front of your screen when you enter the black hole.
Great progress in this episode. Now only remains some of the most difficult locations in the game: the vessel, ATP, giants deeps core, and the white hole station
I think the WHS is difficult for fauna only
I finished this game and never knew you could meet a Nomai.
That's probably worse than missing the White-Hole Station.
I wouldn't feel bad. The WHS is the first thing you see when you pop out of the white hole. The devs intentionally placed it there to be found.
Actually meeting Solanum requires you to basically solve three separate puzzles to learn the quantum rules, while applying them to a fourth and fifth puzzle to find her.
And meeting Solanum doesn't even get you closer to going to the Eye. There's no logical connection between the two. I only did it because I thought the quantum puzzles would be important in discovering the ending. It's not at all surprising you went down a more direct path instead.

In this episode of Fauna Plays Outer Wilds... she finally did it! She finally figured out the secrets of the Quantum Moon! Yeah, the Quantum Moon really is one of the coolest part of the game, if not THE coolest part. I probably should've expected her to fangirl for Solanum considering the circumstances. But now many pieces are finally coming together--the Interloper and the jellyfish, and we're closer to closer to the end! What awaits us as we reach the climax?
Fauna being so excited and fangirling over Solanum was a treat to see, she's every players Oshi.

Update: After watching the video I believe prerecorded fauna still haven't "seen" the white hole station and believed that the "destroyed" building she saw when entering the Black Hole in Brittle Hollow is not a white hole station but a shuttle instead ::)

Fauna has mastered the quantum
For a game that wasn't *supposed* to be a horror game (besides the fish), Outer Wilds continues to be one of the very few games I've found legitimately terrifying
Anyway, was expecting the great joy at meeting Solanum and her giant trove of lore. It made for wonderful listening and great progress

Wow, my heart has never felt so tight than when Fauna refused to look up in the interloper, but the relief when she finally did was huge.
Only three episodes to go but I really hope we can look forward to DLC streams/let's play!!
Watching Fauna solve this big puzzle is so fun, it's almost like getting to play the game again.
Fauna x Solanum BFFs! Fauna got to meet her oshi today and experience interacting with a live (?) Nomai. Didn't seem to make it to the Eye of the Universe though, something must be missing... Also made it to the center of the Interloper! Found a tragic tale there, as it seems to be the source of the Nomai's demise. Nearing the end, looking forward to how it plays out!
