In Astoria Queens if someone got stuck in the mud they missed 3 turns. Damn man, we used to have a huge spray painted board in the middle of the street. Scully, wiffle ball and stoop ball were the essentials growing up back in the days.
Yea I played it as whatever number they land on in the mud, that’s how many turns they lose unless you hit them out, that’s the number of boxes u advance
Man! This reminds me of my childhood in Baltimore. We played this constantly and we took a lot of pride in our tops. My best ones were the plastic tops from a gallon of milk. I melted crayons or green army men to weigh it down - sometimes adding a penny inside. Those were the days. No video games. We stayed outside all day.
I didn't know this game was so far spread. Mine was Bronx, NY! We did the same except not the army men. Mine was mostly candle wax. Penny??? You corking your shit! Steroids! 😆
Never seen this played on the west coast. Tbh I'm only here cuz Mike Tyson mentioning in a interview that he he played it as a kid. Kinda reminds me of marbles.
I def know the rules ..it’s different ways to play..when you play 1 on 1 you don’t # the trapezoids..you put S on them..game is over once u land on em or the person can lose 2-3 turns depending on the rules you set..playing the game with numbers in the mud is good for 3-6 players
I loved playin this as a kid in The Bronx. Gallon milk tops with a penny inside and crayon or candle wax.... mannn those were the days. Playin wit my friends from the block all day.
We was perfectionists with Skelly in East New York! We’d go to Liberty Ave City Line Mall strip to buy the top Clays and make crazy colorway designs.. with the Poland Spring Gallon style tops.. Milk Gallons had em too.. or the more stylin’ on you “Flintstones Push Up” tops.. we was literally Skelly kings outchere.. 😢 tears of Joy lmao
In Brooklyn linden houses I used milk caps with candle wax or melted crayons… them would glide like a drop of water on a hot iron. 570 Stanley Ave Brooklyn NY for ever, George Gershwin park…man the memories are endless 80’s and 90’s.
Came here after watchin Onyx on Mike Tysons Podcast, Hotboxin......they talked bout this game briefly......got me interested. Peace n love from Scotland.
