- There are two fishing destinations that most anglers would refer to as the tarpon fishing capital of the world - the Florida Keys and Boca Grande Pass just off Gasparilla, FL. On an invite from a good friend and business associate, Spencer Frieman, of iGreen Marketing, I had the opportunity to experience what the Boca Grande tarpon fishing hype is all about and it did not disappoint! We were also joined by Captain Jeff Watkins, Jr of Southern Tail Charters who has been fishing the Boca Grande area for tarpon, redfish and other species his entire life. Jeff was an absolute wealth of knowledge and I was like a sponge soaking up all of the great insight he had to share on tarpon fishing in Boca Grande. If you are a fan of the Silver King, and you have not yet experienced Boca Grande, it's a bucket list trip for sure! Just landed 2 a few days ago. Those of you who have not fished for Tarpon you are missing out and those of you who have never landed a Tarpon and think its easy, it IS NOT. Its a beating!!!!!! Great job folks.

i have fished waters all over, fished with tons of guys, tons of capt's crew, you name it, that guy running the boat is as good as it gets. heading down tampa way in two weeks(6/11/22) to chase tarpon. cannot wait.

So they didn’t revive the fish that they just about killed so they could take a photo. Then the guy “reviving” didn’t even have the tarpons head under so water could run through its gills. He’s holding the fish upside down dying and asks “should I release the fish?” Video cuts out and they laugh while saying the fish was ready to go. Then the captain proceeds to say how “important” it is to revive the fish to catch another day……. This was cringeworthy to watch!

Yes, packed full of Kid Rock Nation with "let go brandon" screen to their boats while f-ing up tarpon releases. He's right, that was painful to watch!

Fish Boca Grande for tarpon every year. Haven’t gone yet this year. I do see your boat out there quite often when I’m there tarpon fishing. I’ve been doing it for years. It’s one of those things that’s so easy to do once you learn to scoop pass crabs and find the ledge or when your fish finder looks like it’s glitching because of how many fish there are on the bottom. The fight is addictive but takes zero skill to hook up to one!
