The rich especially like socialism... they just get upset when anyone else want it, too. Our society can be described as "socialism for the wealthy; rugged capitalism for everyone else".
I think the main problem (other than the capitalists) is that a majority of people who get pressed about socialism just don’t actually know what it is. They absolutely think they do though. Because they’re intellectually lazy and willfully ignorant. It’s a sad waste of human capability.
Imagine if there were more incentive to give food away, than destroy it. People starve in a land of plenty, while profits soar for food fewer can afford.

I wish that something like this was around when I was a kid. My mother worked as a nurse after getting her GED and community college while she was on government help. After she got that job, she no longer qualified for food stamps. Her paycheck was barely enough to cover rent and my sister and I went hungry to many times to remember. It’s unfortunate (criminal ) that this is still occurring.
Do nurses not make a lot where you’re from? I grew up wuth both parents as nurses and they even recommended I go into nursing because it’s such a financially stable job

Two facts, number one, the best lemon pepper wings are from JR Crickets. Number two, Scarlett Johansson got turned out on lemon pepper wings when she was shooting The Avengers: End Game in Atlanta. She has done several interviews where they asked her what was her favorite food to eat in Atlanta, and she did not hesitate when she said the lemon pepper wings.
great idea. lots of products get thrown out / near expired date or weird looking veggies and fruits . we threw away cereal boxes for damaged box corners
I get one food delivery from Senior & Disabled Services every month. The items included are soon to expire, a little banged up or misshapen, or items not regularly wanted (a lot of wheat pasta). There is absolutely nothing wrong with this food. They even include recipe letters that use the foods delivered that month. This once-a-month delivery supplements my SNAP benefits & keeps me going. I am so grateful that it exists. When I was still working, I donated money to my local county food bank & meals on wheels. Never, in a million years, did I think when I retired, I would need both to sustain my life.
When I needed help a friend told me aya place in Portland like that grocery store. It was amazing to be able to get food based on the number of people in the household. I don't know if the one in the video was like that, but there needs to be one of them in at least every town and multiples in every city.

We, as the congregation, are the ones who stock the pantry. We have large food barrels in the entranceway to our sanctuary & are asked to bring in non-perishable items every time we come, as we can afford them. I worked with a single mom who said she was running out of the monthly food allotment from the food bank & didn't know what she was going to do. I directed her to the food bank & it keep her going for the rest of the month.
In Wellington, New Zealand, there's a small store called The Free Store that grab all the foods by cafe's and restaurants that are closing up in the CBD between 3.00pm-5.30pm are happy to give away (because it'd go in the bin otherwise). These then get redistributed to people in need and students like this grovery place is doing. The food is often enough that 1 person can have 2-3 days of food just from 1 visit and its all free. Often about 50 ppl or so show up each night + 8-15 volunteers So imagine how much waste must be happening in bigger cities
Thank you for highlighting a few things about my city! Please come back as there is so much more to see and experience that makes Atlanta as special as it is. It’s not a perfect place but we are working on it and it takes a whole community.

It took years in France, but finally stores are obliged to give their unwanted food to food banks and soup kitchens.
I was walking in Brooklyn last weekend and I saw a fridge that had groceries in it for people to donate food and take what they need. 🙏🏾🤲🏾
