I personally found Police Quest: SWAT to have realistic sniping, but that is an old game with FMVs and you literally had to take wind speed, bullet drop, all that into account. I've never played Arma 2, but from what I've read about it, your statement is pretty much spot on either way.
Didn't hear him mention prox mines. Fun little thing to do if you have them is to sneak into a base, compromise a generator/take a capture point after laying down a proximity mine. Then, sit back and watch someone die. Hack a terminal to get more mines, rinse, repeat. Also works if you drop near enemy spawn room in larger battles.
actually if you read the description of the cloak moving reduces the effect of the cloaking. I many times slipped from tanks by easily standing still, crouching and cloaking. Also it is very hard to spot a cloaked infiltrator if you are not actively searching for him. this can be used simply by firing a few shots and then going into cower from which you, while cloaked, move to another position... Works great by me! :)
Hacking terminals and turrets can be devastatingly effective. Also enemy snipers can be very disruptive so having friendly counter-snipers is quite useful. Also infiltrators who actually sneak behind the enemy can get TONS and TONS of kills because all the enemy forces are focusing on your main attack and probably assuming that their back is clear.
What I love about Planetside 2 is that it doesn't handicap Snipers, you can one-shot enemies with headshots and there's no kill-cam.
But I wish you could just shoot while cloaked and break the invisibility (maybe be punished with a longer cooldown/recharge).
It just feels so strange to decloak before shooting and I often missed great opportunities because I didn't think of it.

Infiltrator and vehicles are probably what I'll spend the most time in this game with.
I always like playing Recon in Battlefield. I don't care if it's not the most useful thing in the world, it's fun. I prefer being that support from behind the lines kinda thing.

The VS sniper doesn't have bullet drop, so sniping with other factions is harder. You can also try the types of snipers by using other factions, the NC has the poerful bolt action, and the TR has a sniper that fits into the middle of the pack. Doing a video with these would show how hard it is to snipe over long ranges with bullet drop.
Sniping in Dayz is quite good. It's pretty realistic as you must account for wind, elevation, distance etc. and no clan can operate without at least one sniper team on overwatch. You don't kill many people, but it's not about that in Dayz. It's about watching over your mates and making sure no one's about to jump them. If someone does... BOOM.. tango down! A sniper team can also be used to distract zombies whilst your mates slip in un-detected. You're right though. Planetside 2 does it best.
Level can I add that when they fully implement all of the weapons, each empire will still play accordingly. E.g. TR will have a bolt-action which will not do as much damage as the Bolt-Driver at long ranges but will shoot faster. And the NC full Auto Scout rifle will pack more of a punch but fire slower than the VS and TR

Terran republic: fast vehicles and a high rate of fire. New conglomerate: packs a punch and goes for armor on vehicles. Vanu: not sure, but like the other guy said, they look cool

theres actually a good reason that the tech isn't as advanced as we would think, when the group went through the wormhole to explore auraxis, they wormhold closed on about half of them. So they had to start over with almost no technology and very few people. So their technology went backwards for quite a long time.
If you hold the Shift key while aiming, the sway will stop for about 4 seconds. Also, if you are dead set on being a sniper, get a bolt action rifle as soon as possible since it will kill in one hit to the head.
arma 2-3 is one of the games that does go into detail on those things, and yes bf3 would be more popular if it had adjusting on the scopes and other things, but it would also be like arma where if you are new to said game, you will have a diffucult time doing things the way they are configured.
This game just keeps looking better!
NC has high-powered guns. Bolt Driver is a one-shot kill most of the time (MAX and shielded Heavy Assault won't drop with one shot). VS has accurate weapons due to being beam-based weapons.
In the Empire Showdown, they didn't even bother with continent resets, which was pretty shitty of an idea, considering that beforehand, VS owned all of the territories on Esamir. And it wasn't just the VS guys, the info about which server/continent the challenges were being hosted on was leaked early, and people used that to their advantage, so most of the challenges should've been forfeit... Which still could've been solved via a continent reset.
Note Lvlcap was playing Vanu, so while he had no bullet drop, the damage drop off for distance is much higher than the two other factions. Side note, while healing a female Vanu sniper, I noticed that the Dev's had exaggerated her female assets, NOT her chest, but rather her bottom. :-)

Love this class too, cant wait to see what its going to be like when the other types of ammo are released that I saw in the menu but were locked??..maybe we will be able to have a chance at taking out those MAX suits if we do headshots with armor piercing rounds or whatever they were called
To be honest, he really exaggerates the effectiveness of the cloak.If someone's on low graphics, you're invisible to them, but if they're on medium or high, you're a pretty visible moving blob up to 100m, if they're looking in your direction. helpful for escapes as a sniper, and very much so to help you sneak around crowded bases, but don't expect to get too much infiltrating done. Even once you're in there, there isn't much to do but annoy them anyway, trust me.
Cool story of mine: i was an NC infiltrator inside an enemies base, i heard a scythe land on the landing pad above, jumped out and started looking for me, i stealthed my way to his scythe, jumped on top and waited for him to return to his plane, as soon as i saw him i went invisible and waited for him to get closer then BAM!!! One shot to his head lol, it was so satisfying.
Yeah there is, he is just stabilizing it every time. And each factions bullet drop is different. Vanu, which he is playing now, has minimal drop since they fire laser projectiles...
theres also a thing called limits, and games can't use exactly what real snipers use because they don't want to make the system so complicated that it takes from the fun the game is meant for
There is both, the rifle he is using though is a Vanu one, they trade off damage at range to shoot lasers with no drop and very little sway.
Dude I know! I play TR too, and throughout the first half here he's killin my outfit! At 2:54 I'm the guy shooting at him from the cliff. Only reason I'm shooting at him instead of all the other bad guys is because I know it's levelcap, I've never seen LvLcap in a game before, so I had to get my kill. Unfortunately he got away, and I haven't seen him since. I'm still on the hunt!
reminds me of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, i loved the long range sniping.. good old times :D
i took over an entire biolab by myself yesterday as an infiltrator. best class in planetside 2 imho
Snipers aren't any more tryhard than any other classes, their effort is just invested in other actions.
That's a vanu specific benefit. Other factions have bullet drop, sniping isn't the only thing about this game and BF3 has probably the worst sniping in any game. Not to mention it isn't really complex.

VS's Artemis is where its at. Cloak, get behind people or hide in a bush, unload lots of bullets into peoples heads. With flash supp or silencer, they never know wat hit em.

I'm pretty sure other have told you, but in PlanetSide 2 the Vanu are the only one nation without bullet drop. They have plasma sniper rifle, this is sci-fi so yeah maybe it's ''Realistic''. The other two nation have bullet drop because they have ''standard'' bullet.
killzone 2 multiplayer was awesome, I still play it. In the third they twicked the sniper class a bit and I think you could actually hit somebody without the cloak comming off but everytime you shot down someone it would come off. I prefered in killzone2 cause you really couldn't miss
Snipping in killzone was also a lot of fun because of the cloak ability
Lol Plernatious Vanu sucks? You must have gotten sniped a few times by the VS. NC hits hard yes but are slow and have high recoil
and TR is just really fast.. Not too much damage but not COMPLETELY awful.
VS is very balanced. not only do we have amazing accuracy but we also have no bullet drop.

NC - well... they try... Maybe give them an A for effort...

Well , each empire has advantages and disadvantages .U cant just say a empire is a Zerg or something.Besides,i chose NC for Freedom.

TR may not have the highest damage, or range, but what they do have is survivability. Which is cannon to their lore. As they are a "sturdy" organized faction, resulting in far better maxes than other factions, and medics being more useful at healing, rather than reviving 24/7.
NC has very high damage output. The gauss saw dealing very high damage at almost long range. Along with the gauss rifles. Their rocket launchers and explosives are some of the best in the game aswell. Cannon to lore due to them trying to crush the TR as fast as possible. The VS focuses mostly on mobility, and range. Which explains their light assaults jump jets being stronger than other factions, and vehicles speed. Which is also cannon to their lore, as they do have better light speed ships.

Scope sway: yes, Bullet drop: not if you are vanu, you have bullet drop in NC/TR
yes but you can steady the scope and bullet drop isn't too much of a problem unless you are very far away

The VS faction (the one he's playing on) is pretty much entirely energy guns and stuff. The other 2 factions have normal guns.

Okay, if you want to be correct, I'd start by playing Planet Side 2, because then you would know that yes, there is bullet drop and yes, sniping in Planet Side is VERY hard. It takes about a week of dying and getting pummeled in the face with bullets to realize that your cloak is your best friend, and the element of surprise is not a luxury, its a necessity for the Infiltrator. Stop acting like you know what you're talking about, it's obvious you don't.

He said a few videos ago hes loving Vanu so is gonna stick with them. all 3 factions are pretty close to eachother anyway, So the vanu inf is the same as the TR and NC infs. just different weapons
I would buy it now because it gives you time to level up and get used to the game.I myself did buy it and enjoy the game very much and am glad I didn't have to wait.
btw levelcap, the reason battlefield 3 is more difficult is because its not futruistic, thats how hard it is for snipers in real life, they just happen to be much better shots than tryhards. planetside on the other hand has no bulletdrop and cannot be treated as a related game to any of the fps that are attempting realism. a better comparison would have been halo, in which case the snipers are the same but the maps are smaller. ;)
It's because it is a CPU intensive game I got an i5 3570k and A GTX 670 FTW and I get down to 35fps sometimes. What you are lacking is CPU power. If you had a 2500k or a 3570k you would see a slightly better scenario. AND the game is still being optimized.
There's so much scope sway the infiltrators have lung cancer and Vanu have NO bullet drop at all since it's one of their faction benefits but the other factions, NC and TR do have bullet drop.
Nice, I like that too. Even though I'm not that good at it. Half the time I just spot the enemy for my side.
The group he is playing is the vanu, and they use lazers. Therefore, not bulletdrop. Try the other 2 groups, they have bullet drop.

High rate of fire low damage weapons is not my play style. I also have to be blue for my colorblind friends. I will likely make more than one character in the end, but primarily NC.
To be fair, the Terran Republic also has a semi auto sniper to start out. Same principle. It's just the VS can actually aim.
Know what Vanu also has? Giant trails of glowy, glowy jerk juice leaking out of the bullets that leads straight back to the shooter. Why do people complain about Vanu? NC has powerful weapons and TR have high magazines by default. What does Vanu have? Glowy, glowy jerk juice.
I think with the cloaking, they should allow you to cancel it in case you need to quickly take someone down. Probably a bit like Axton's turret in borderlands 2
just 1 small comment on the video, HS/NV Scope can see threw stealth :) so at medium range you can see stealthed. other then that good job!

I really love CoD. What is wrong with it? Fast paced single person gameplay. I also love Battlefield 3, I play it a lot. And i'm really looking forward to Planetside 2. Why can't call of duty players like this game? Hate the fanboys not the normal players. There are also annoying battlefield fanboys.

Just the Vanu have energy based weapons because they use alien tecnology. All other factions use conventional megazines.

arma II sniping is pretty fun :) really challenging too cause you need a spotter most of the time
I would like everyone to know that as an Infiltrator (I snipe, i dont actually infiltrate), it is very rare that you will get these kinds of scenarios, where you have a platoon of idiots peeking their heads over a hill while you just pick them off. This is RARE, and as an infiltrator you can be easily killed. Just saying...
Try all 3,they all have there pros and cons. I like vs the most but nc is not bad at all either. tr has its moments. If they were organized they would definitely be hard to stop. Honestly though try them all, remember this is beta testing so most likely you will have multiple characters before the game releases.
ah bullet drop can be learned. of course its waaay harder shooting long distance, especially moving targets.
i didnt know the bolt driver is a one hit kill. it is kind of harder to use if youre not that accurate. i enjoy the vanu or the TR's sniper rifles better

I allways use infiltrator when doing galaxy drops (hacking vehicle console and get Sunderer as team spawnpoint in the enemy base). And for the motion tracker gun wich is extremely usefull to help locate remaining enemies after taking the base.
There is shotguns in the unlock tree that are not yet enabled. Can't wait to get one of these instead of having to run around and try to quick scope people.
Planetside 2 is awesome but yes 2142 is one of the best games ever. Best battlefield game ever actually.
Sniper class in BF3 is an amazing thing as far as utility goes. The problem is that people just want to be the sniper hero that goes out and 360 no-scopes everyone, whereas it's real purpose is to let your allies know enemy positions so they can flank, as well as lay down suppressive fire. (I realize you never said anything about this, but there's a point to my bringing it up.) Does the infiltrator have any 'spotter' functions? It would be awesome if it did.

wow, this really got me interested in planetside 2, wonder when it iwll no longer be beta and i will get it for sure. finally a game where i could play sniper without only being capable of killing people who stand still at extreme range! : p

planetside has bulletdrop. vanu weapons dont. but the further the bullet travels the less damage it does. terran and nc have bulletdrop. nc has the highest drop rate. but there u go. dont say thing that u dont know about
Yes there is bullet drop not much tough for the most part and the vanu basic sniper rifle (the one you see here) doesn't have it at all (all the other guns do tough)

BF3 is a GPU intensive game, the maps are small, not a lot of computing power is demanded from the CPU. An FX-6100 is more then enough for BF3. On the other hand Planetside 2 is VERY VERY demanding of the CPU. All I can say is the Beta is still topping off my CPU power.
I don't know how an FX-6100 and an i5 3570K compare in PS2. I don't buy in to the hype that Bulldozer is bad. It's very good for gaming, for gaming only tho.
The purple faction shoots with lasers, thats why their wapens have no bulit drop
