All this information is so good! Thank you so much John for sharing this insight. I’ve watched a ton of your videos and keep coming to you and few others for most everything I’ve needed while transitioning my photography business. Felt compelled to say thanks this go around and I really hope things are well for ya in 2024.
Man, whenever I find an interesting topic in a recommended video for wedding photography I'm like: I need to search for John's opinion in this, I'm sure he has something better.
I no longer respond to leads or clients after 6pm or before 9am. I used to be accessible 24-7. Now I’m training them to understand business hours. If they can’t wait then their loss 😉
knowing how to say no is so important!! this video is very insightful, thank you. based in berlin and unfortunately honeybook isn't available in Germany yet:(
@christinawatkins Honeybook is a great tool but you can also check to see if studioninja is available in Germany. I use that and it’s great as well. Great video John. Your videos are a great resource.
Found your video extremely enlightening - especially the suggestion of a brief online meeting with your potential clients after initial contact. For me, even a 5 minute phone call would give me valuable insight into whether I will enjoy working with them (and vice versa). It could have prevented a bad experience some months ago so I will definitely take this on board.
Exactly. Being able to chat just for a little bit really makes sure that both you and your client will have the best experience. I’ve found it to be priceless in making sure that me and my clients are aligned on everything.
That would be a great video. Unfortunately I actually don't have too much experience with "difficult" clients. Mainly because I do so much work upfront with vetting my couples and telling couples who don't gel with my style that I'm not for them that I usually have EXTREMLEY smooth client experiences.
HoneyBook is a client management system. So basically it's mainly for you to manage all of your clients, and get paid. HoneyBook does have a page where couples can find you however, it's not the main purpose.
Hi, So your first email to the client is with the question to setup a meeting to know more details about the wedding and to determine i they are a match? then you send your pricing? Thankz for the great video.
It's a nice process but I feel it doesn't work in some countries like mine. again, I feel for some startups like me, it's going to be difficult. thanks for sharing,
Since I generally send pricing to my couples before hand they already have an idea of what the pricing is. Thanks to that, and also prefacing the meeting and what it's about we can stay on topic of how I can serve them rather than just the price. If price comes up then I do address it but my pricing is very simple so there's not too much to discuss about it.
Hey John, hope you're well. This is a simple question that for some reason I can't figure out. I do portraits, engagements, family shoots, etc and use Honeybook as well. At what point in the process do I get my client's instagram handles and how do I get them to follow my photo account back? My clients are always really happy with my work and the galleries come out amazing, but it's been tough getting anyone to connect with us on social media. Any suggestions for how to add this into my process?
@@nicklevinephotography6268 gotcha. I worry about having too many things in my inquiry form so I'm hesitant to add something like that. I dont want to deter anyone from filling it out
Yeah. I actually have some good setting videos for that. Check out this one for a start and let me know if it helps out. ruclips.net/video/BWjhQaCMreA/видео.html
Care to post your proposal and workflows? i tried to make one and i just get a brain fart every time :-/ the workflow is very annoying to me but i would like to make it work for me.
Your content is always extremely helpful!!!! Have you changed up any aspect of your business due to Covid-19? I am specifically interested in how you shoot weddings which known for social gatherings? How do you stay safe?
RIP to my Patreon Page. 🙃
Literally went over there and was like, wtf? RIP

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. It helps so much. Can't thank you enough
You are so welcome!
I am not a professional photographer but if I became one your advice is priceless.
Your camera quality is on another level. damn
1. HoneyBook… such an appealing name🍯 🍯🍯 to refer my couples to, lol. 2. “Do you have anymore questions about the process?” Thanks man. Cheers.
Lol I been watching your wedding content all this week specifically bc I have my first solo wedding this Saturday🤩
Good luck!!

They already know your style when you meet bro. That’s one reason they are meeting.
EXACTLY. While we are serving our clients we aren’t their servants. Setting them expectations is HUGE. I hope everyone sees this.

needed this!
I'm glad this was helpful for you!
Amazing video, man. Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
Great video! Could you do a livestream going over others people client on boarding process?
OOOOO that would be cool. I'm not sure how I would set that up but that would be a totally great subject.
Could you help me with questionaires and brochures?
Great video! And the quality is so creamy!
Thanks so much! Fujifilm really comes through on the video side of things.
Hello John. I can't get Honeybook after watching your vlog. How do I get the honeybook software
This was great. Thanks John. I’m starting to get into the HoneyBook automations and workflows. Do you have info like that on your Patreon?
I don't but I'm looking to do more videos on the subject. The workflow side of things is really awesome in HoneyBook.
Hi there! What all do you have on your contract?
Can you talk more about photography proposals? Do you already have a video on it?
do you ask the client to pay the deposit fee during the meeting and after the event they will pay the rest of the payment?
How about you make a video about "dificult" clients...? that would be very interesting
That would be a great video. Unfortunately I actually don't have too much experience with "difficult" clients. Mainly because I do so much work upfront with vetting my couples and telling couples who don't gel with my style that I'm not for them that I usually have EXTREMLEY smooth client experiences.
How do you take & return security deposit ? Do you use honey book for that as well
can you do a video where you explain the connection between your rite set up and how it works with your honeybook account?
That would be awesome actually. I'll totally do that.
So can clients find a photographer on honey book? Or when you find a couple you direct them to your honey book page for booking?
HoneyBook is a client management system. So basically it's mainly for you to manage all of your clients, and get paid. HoneyBook does have a page where couples can find you however, it's not the main purpose.
Where is the video for after the booking process on the honeybooks work flow!
I need to make some new videos. I actually was planning on doing that soon.
🙋🏾♂️ 🙋🏾♂️ …I need to know about this “content team on patreon” you mentioned…?? 👀 How can I join the club??
Hi, So your first email to the client is with the question to setup a meeting to know more details about the wedding and to determine i they are a match? then you send your pricing? Thankz for the great video.
I honestly watch your videos at least an hour or 2 each day for educational purposes lol does this count as learning my craft lol
That means so much to me. I hope the content is helpful!
Do you send them a price sheet or a link to a price page on your website.
DAM-Digital Asset Management. I'd like to know where and how do you store your images. And how long do you keep your wedding images?
It's a nice process but I feel it doesn't work in some countries like mine.
again, I feel for some startups like me, it's going to be difficult.
thanks for sharing,
When i try to use your link, it just takes me to a page to pay for membership but dosen't apply a discount, can you give the actual discount code?
Hey brotha, it looks like your website is broken. Just mentioning it in case you weren't aware. Great video, btw.
So during the meeting... how do you avoid talking about price without seeming avoidant?
Since I generally send pricing to my couples before hand they already have an idea of what the pricing is. Thanks to that, and also prefacing the meeting and what it's about we can stay on topic of how I can serve them rather than just the price. When they inquire with you! I have mine as part of my inquiry form along with normal stuff like name, email, phone number, etc.

Yeah. I actually have some good setting videos for that. Check out this one for a start and let me know if it helps out. ruclips.net/video/BWjhQaCMreA/видео.html

Hey. Do you know if HB is available to UK based photographers?
I don't beleive so. I think it's only in the US.
Do you ask for their budget?
No I post my pricing on my website. That way I know that if we’re chatting I’m probably already in their budget.
@@jbivphotography Thanks John so much, for the clarification.
