To Gresha Lewis: AMEN!!! This song isn't reaching anybody! This the excuse church people use to shake their rumps. Young people dance to this and will forget about it years from now.
These kids are shaking their rumps anyway. Why not shake it to some positive lyrics for a change instead of the constant barrage of hyper masculine, overtly misogynist, and uber sexual songs that deep into their brains on the daily? I find your thinking to be odd. Most people of faith believe that these secular songs (in particular the lyrics) have had a direct and negative effect on our young people and their behavior. So bad lyrics corrupt, but good lyrics do nothing?

I have a serious question for those of you who keep saying certain sounds of gospel music will reach the youth. I have been hearing this and I think it's a mind numbing statement to keep people from critically thinking and to allow the gospel artists to straddle the fence a bit... 1.) How do you all know this for sure? 2.) Do you all really believe these gospel artists make these songs with the youth in mind or their pockets? 3.) Where do you draw the line? ***** Thats so true sister! Good questions! Some questions where also: when you are getting on your knees and pray to Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, can you listen to this song? If Jesus where right in front of you can you listen to this song?
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. This is deceptive. We should not look like the world to reach the world. We are called to be a peculiar people. We are suppose to be DIFFERENT!!!! God is CREATIVE and He doesn't have to use the melody or style of the world to win souls. Have the Church Gone Mad!!!! We are accepting anything in the church these days!!!!
There's nothing wrong with this kind of sound. You're obviously associating it with something negative even though the lyrics are positive. I don't get you. All that matters is the message and its reaching people. Gospel artists all sound too much like each other and people need variety.
Most of the young people who'll listen to this song are already in church. The one's you are trying to reach, who aren't in church, won't pay it any attention. They'll dance to it and ignore the lyrics.
Many young people who are christians, still face the challenge of having the courage to be different, or cave in to peer pressure and be like the world. That's where mature christians, as well as their parents if they are christians, come in to reinforce the principles of God's word. We are in the world but not of the world.
I'm so sadden by every christian that took the time to point out her shirt and the style of this song, forgetting the message, and the lives it will touch and possibly change. There is power in all music. So putting a spin on the negative to grab the attention of the listener while delivering a message is indeed powerful. Christian music should be consistent in grabbing the attention of any listener, delivering a message that speaks to the soul causing one to seek more. for some it's a catchy tune and a hook, beats out worldly lyrics of violence and crime any day. imagine how many children will be singing this version - smile! Canton Jones and this style of christian music did it for me. >The Jews didn't approve of Jesus message, the delivery of the message, nor what he represented, are you any better. seek the positive instead of the negative - which is far more rewarding? FYI > The word LOVE was Written on the back of the shirt smhwlol!
Mary Mary has always had they're own sound its youth based nothing wrong with praising God the way they do it's still a positive message at the end of the day !!! Times have change this is not the old sounding gospel our grandmothers use to listen too it's a new generation !!
Erica Campbell is winning me over with all of HER songs. She gives powerful performances and everytime I hear HELP I start crying. Touches my soul. You go girl! Please continue doing what you love to do and that's making inspirational music.
God is the one who determines what pleases Him. Read the bible and it will tell you. On an episode of "MaryMary" reality show, Erica was invited to do a show with r&b singer Joe Thomas. Erica's husband and Erica herself, was all for it. It was to get more exposure and expand her "brand", as they call it, not ministry. Don't forget, it's about business, not just music, and very little about ministry.
God said worship in spirit and truth,,no one can get into their spirit with secular Christian artist music,, they best music is praising God from your mouth no beat no mic,,just your spirit and God.. I pray Jesus open all of our spiritual eyes of false things..
I bet if she was a new artist and this was her first single, it wouldn't be getting as much backlash. No judgement, music is an expression of the moment
I love this. The first gospel artist I gravitated towards was Kirk Franklin and the album was the Nu Nation Project the song Stomp. I am 22 and I was 5 when the album was released. The album was urban and later on I found it was very controversial. The album spoke to me and to my generation. God became accessible to me because for the first time I heard Him speak in a way that I understood. I found that God could be praised everyday all day and not just on Sunday. I discovered that you can go to God whenever even if its just to say thank you. I like most young children found church to be a drag and gospel to be boring. Because of Kirk Franklin I eventually ventured into more traditional gospel, but if it hadn't been for that album I don't belive I would be as rooted in faith as I am. I hope Erica Campbell continues to speak to this generation because there are a lot of children that need to be brought to God.
Music has its place. But make sure the people your trying to reach walk away with this...... John 14:15 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 1 John 2:3-4 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
I love the song, it's catchy and entertaining. It shouldn't matter how she bring people to god as long as she do. It's sad that's it 2015 and there is still a debate going on about what is appropriate for church and what is not. At the end of the day God do not see a difference so why do we.
I have read some of the comments on here. I don't think Erica made this song to reach the youth from a interview she did...But if it reach the youth I don't see anything wrong with it.....Now Kirk Franklin when he first came out with his song "Stomp" I really didn't like the song. But I can say it did help the youth and eventually the song grew on me. I was a teenager when that song came out. But I knew who Jesus was for myself. Some young people don't know and you also have adults who don't know. So if this song "I Luh God" makes a person say to themselves well who is that, I want to know more about God. I don't see anything wrong with that whether it reaches the youth or a worldly person. As a gospel artist as a Christian you have to be able to reach all kinds of people.
Dear "Christian" folk, if you don't like the song, DON'T LISTEN TO IT! Point blank! God is good and I love this song! Stop being so judgmental people, and take a look in the mirror!
Thank you, Miesha. The apostle Paul stated in Romans 1:16, " For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." So, it is the Gospel that reaches, not the music. Music only sets the atmosphere to receive the word.
Some Christians can so judgmental its ridiculous just because made song with great lyrics and a catchy rap beat y'all calling the song trashy when Erica is using this music platform to reach the youth that's like me that just don't wanna listen to slow gospel songs all the times. But at the end of the day its not just about reaching the saved its about reaching the unsaved also so we can win their souls .This is an amazing song Erica.
This mess ain't pulling nobody out of nothing ok all it's doing is promoting the world in the church. I'm so tired of seeing so called gospel artist doing hip hop and acting like they r trying to reach the masses when all they r doing is trying to sell a lot of records to make a whole lot of money and become famous. God is not glorified in this mess!!!
The spirit of this world all day...can you imagine the 24 elders around the throne singing that mess to the Most High? Flesh, flesh & more flesh...that's it & that's all. Nothing more to say
The church was in an uproar when Precious Lord was released and years later when I was in the Jr choir we were forbidden to sing. OH happy Day because it was sang in the night clubs and the beat was too worldly.
Sounds fun. If this was playing at a Great2Wait conference or one of those teen youth summits held over the summer, the kids would go wild and really get into. This is something that we would've love to hear when I was younger. With a beat or straight acapella, this song would be cool! Whoever said anything about the shirt....it's a shirt. I has your attention #goAhead #HateOnHater
What you are/were doing works well for you. No matter where your from people relate to music. Music provides different things for individuals. This can be easily misconstrued as secular music, even with the word God. If this is the direction God is taking you, then it is what it is! Sometimes, I like to play "gospel tracks" w/a little bounce, but primarily I like my gospel to speak to my situation. This is only a bounce track, but it yet has a purpose!
I just have one question. If u You love God so much that u made a gospel trap song about him WHY DOES YOUR SHIRT SAY HATE???? Submliminal much???? Think about that.
Nobody is scraping for negativity. Hate IS a negative word. On the front of her shirt. While she is singing about positive words such as love and God. Anybody who bothers to pay attention would assume that. ANYWAY Thanks @Mrs THJ and @Blair West for the explanation, bout yo look that up lol!
Ruth Bowen I have no idea what you were saying. If you are thanking me sincerely, then cool. However, Mary Mary/Erica has received far more criticism then they deserve. I feel that as a Christian it's not my job to figure out which chrisitians are with God and who arent. The only way I would ever call one of them out is if they were doing something that was completely sinful and not trying to get it right with God. Btw we only see a snipet pf her performance here. I bet that somewhere in there she explained to everyone what the shirt was about like she did on the show
I hear the critics..... but in my experience God Voice will speak to us in a language we can understand. And if the Lord wants to use a trap song style to deliver His message fine by me. I can sing along with this or to Rihanna's new one " B*** better have my money." same style, different message. lol
I Love This Song!!!! Its my ringtone She's reaching out to the younger generation more cause that's where the music is Its not always about the traditional gospel and contemporary gospel either If you Can reach to save a soul EITHER way!!! DO IT!!!!!! I LOVE THAT YOU STEPPED OUT THE BOX ERICA #ILUHGOD #MYJAM #BIGGESTFAN
After reading these comments, I'm so disgusted at how judgemental PEOPLE can be!!! Ugh!!! This was part of the reason I decided not to pursue a music career because the way my temper is set up...but God ain't done with me yet!! She is praising the Lord and he has no regard of genre. And her shirt is a subliminal message of a bible scripture, not spreading HATE!! Watch the show and Goo tells you why. Imma pray for y'all. Meanwhile, have several seats. People will talk even when you're cold and dead. Keep praising him and blessing us Erica!!! LUH YOU AND GOD!! #ByeHaters!!!
AngelicBeauty826 Oh hush read Ephesians 5:11 you probably haven't made it that far in the Bible but when there is believed to be false teaching or blasphemy call it out. I'm not judging her I'm saying this isn't godly I love her as a person but I stand by what I see.
PpppHAAAAAAAA!!!!! Whatever. Mary Christ I do not need your direction to or through the bible!!!! She is not teaching, but expressing her love for God. Whats blasphemy is you hating on her worship and judging her character. If you don't like her delivery, move on. I pray for you and no longer will I engage in your attention thirsty behavior. Don't come for me cause you really don't want it! I would tear you a new life. Exit stage left and be blessed.
I love Jesus forgiving you this for me, just for me, I have by the Kingdom of God dear Son Powerful light has taken this song just for me. Thank you Jesus for such a lovely lady, Erica Campbell don't go no where, but try that throat spray anticrepitant might sooth your throat, take care of yourself, that's how we keep God informed on what's ailing us, He Lord dies the rest take a couple of weeks to rest your voice, don't abuse it. 4/19/15***
the shirt comes from Leviticus 19;17 “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. It would not look as good with a whole scripture across your shirt. ppl dislike everthing....but go ahead Erica reach these young ppl...this generation is so lost and needs to be saved.
Nothing wrong with the song. Quit being religious. I guarantee she's reaching someone you can't. As long as the message isn't comprising I don't have an issue and I myself particularly LOVE worshipful style music (practically all I listen to). But when will the church wake up and realize that there is a dying generation out there that needs Jesus. The WORD should never change, but the package sure needs a boost. C'mon church it's 2015, give these kids something. You can be hip and not compromise.
Instead of people singing the sausage song (or worse), they can repeat they luh God over and over. Music is universal and different sounds. Gospel does not just depict one sound. Just like God has made many different colors of people, different animals, unique nature, and a wide open space with galaxies and deep oceans, he has made different types of music. Instead of pointing fingers at what wrong she is doing, uplift her for trying to reach the youth as well as adults. Question yourself, what are you doing to win over souls? Don't judge......Or be judged at the end of times!
I'm a teenager and this song reaches me. This song does reach the youth and it has proven that it does. Not once did I think this song was all the talk about money. Praising God and giving glory to God is what Mrs. Erica wants.

Positive lyrics does not make it right, nor pleasing to God. "All a mans ways SEEM right, but in the end leads to death". That's the word.
Okay, that fine. So let me ask the obvious -WHO is the arbiter of what is pleasing to God? YOU???
You said it best. They're a lot of gospel rappers. Did I just read above you can shake your rump in a positive way? That's insane

That's where mature christians, as well as their parents if they are christians, come in to reinforce the principles of God's word. We are in the world but not of the world.
I love it and you nothing wrong with this song my kids love it thanks Erica
The shirt is a scripture. 17 is the verse they said it on the show.
Elite puppet!!!!
this song is the best song ever
I'm normally not a fan of Christian rap but this is good I'd like to here more Christian rap like this
Erica Campbell is winning me over with all of HER songs. She gives powerful performances and everytime I hear HELP I start crying. Touches my soul. You go girl! Please continue doing what you love to do and that's making inspirational music.
That's banging E!
I'm trying to picture this song being performed on TBN.
I love the song
I luh (God) you don't luh (God) what's wrong wichu!
I bet if she was a new artist and this was her first single, it wouldn't be getting as much backlash. No judgement, music is an expression of the moment
instagram brought me here.
Go erica luv it❤️
I love this.
John 14:15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1 John 2:3-4
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
It's weird because her shirt says "HATE"
I like dis song
Dear "Christian" folk, if you don't like the song, DON'T LISTEN TO IT! Point blank! God is good and I love this song! Stop being so judgmental people, and take a look in the mirror!
I love this song!!! Honestly I would play this all day every day. I applaud her for stepping out and doing this! Go girl!
Get It !!!!ayyyeeee!
Love it, because lets be real most kids won't listen to anything without a beat or bass, she has done that with a Christian swag, I'm not made at all
I'm laughing because her shirt says "Hate 17" and she's singing about love
im lauging because you dont know what youre talking about
jada king "Everyone will hate you because of me." Luke 21:17
I think thats what its referring to.
Thus said THE LORD!!!!!!
I luh her jeans...only gripe I have is this "luh" word... Hope it's not the new "bae" 😩😆
God is not glorified in this mess!!!
i luv em i luv emmm
The spirit of this world all day...can you imagine the 24 elders around the throne singing that mess to the Most High? Flesh, flesh & more flesh...that's it & that's all. Nothing more to say
Am I the only one who does not think of God when I hear this song?
nah just you
i honestly don't know how i feel about this so instead of being negative imma leave it to God to judge because that is his job
r u kidding me?
if you don't love GOD something is wrong with you
Man, I love this song!!! She did that!
Why does her shirt say hate when she's singing about Love/God?
Primped to Perfection I think it's referring to Luke 21:17 "Everyone will hate you because of me."
Also, is that your focus when She's praising God?
The church was in an uproar when Precious Lord was released and years later when I was in the Jr choir we were forbidden to sing. OH happy Day because it was sang in the night clubs and the beat was too worldly.
Oh yessss!!! I love this
How sad is it that people think its something wrong with her making a song like this....Jesus please hurry up and come back.
OMG. I love this song. She should have Lecrae rap over this song.
I just have one question. If u
You love God so much that u made a gospel trap song about him WHY DOES YOUR SHIRT SAY HATE???? Submliminal much???? Think about that.
Leviticus 17, they explained this on the show. It's a bible verse.
Ruth Bowen Yeah its talking about a bible verse that explains hate
Always scraping to find negativity
I bet that somewhere in there she explained to everyone what the shirt was about like she did on the show
Killllllllllllllllllll it E!!!!!!!!!!! I luh this song
I bet you this was her husband Warren's idea😒
Now I see why Mary Mary broke up!!!
I love this song... When praises go up, blessings come down!!!!!
Its my ringtone
She's reaching out to the younger generation more cause that's where the music is
Its not always about the traditional gospel and contemporary gospel either If you Can reach to save a soul EITHER way!!! DO IT!!!!!! I LOVE THAT YOU STEPPED OUT THE BOX ERICA
#ILUHGOD
#MYJAM
#BIGGESTFAN
YESSSSSSS BABYYYYYYYY!!!!!! I LUH GOD TOO!!!! AYEEEE!!! I see you Ms E!!!!
AngelicBeauty826 People always want to scream judgmental. Read the word. If you're going against the world you need correcting it's not judging.. -_-
yes it is judgmental and critical. no one can judge that woman but god. Mary Christ. have several seats
Cool AngelicBeauty826
Oww!!! I'm feelin' this one!! Go Erica!
This song actually makes me want to go back to the club so I can get my dance own this song is not helping me at all
WHY DOES HER SHIRT SAY HATE 17?
good song
the shirt comes from Leviticus 19;17 “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. It would not look as good with a whole scripture across your shirt. ppl dislike everthing....but go ahead Erica reach these young ppl...this generation is so lost and needs to be saved.
I love this! this is for our generation :D!
Yesssssss I luh God!! lol you did that Erica!❤❤
Who puts the word shawty in there gospel music tho like really?
This track is HOTTTTT... you don't love GOD, WHATS WRONG WIT YOU...
lol
She looks like she's having fun and being silly! Not sure what else to think....Turnin' up for Jesus? I ain't mad at ya!
You cute! and good show😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃😄😄😄
If the gospel song does not bring the individual into the presence of God with worship. Then it is not gospel music
I LUH GOD... what is wrong with this song NOTHING. I love it.
THIS SONG IS SO DOPE IM NOT A FAN OF RAP GOSPEL BUT SHE DEFINITELY DID HER THANG YEEEEEESSSSSS ERICA.
