I love how he is, his music has always been original and avant-garde, while still being groovy, deep, melodic and atmospheric at the same time. I appreciate djs/producers like him. I remember being to his set at Igloofest in Montreal, it was the best 😊❄
One of my favorite people right here. Love his music and sets. He Inspired me along with some others to produce my own stuff. I still suck in my mind but I am going to keep digging until I finally make something I am truly excited about.
The real deal and very modest. The fact that he is fast at creating his music compositions is in fact a sign of genius. This is a trait that almost all geniuses possess as a gift.
My fav DJ & electronic music producer. Thanks Telekom Electronic Beats for this! I like what he says, I admire and support his work a lot. Don't forget to support the artists and buy the stuff you like!
I love how he talks about people wanting to be the next big thing and never once refers to himslef, very humble guy. Even today I hear lots of producers sounding like Maceo. Its hard to believe hes still so young yet firmly cemented within the scene as one of the greats.
Props to Eric for this interview, I have known him from his days back in Dallas and I can say everything coming out of his mouth is 100% honest real shit. So glad to see him still the same after all these years especially after all the BS constantly thrown at him.

He makes some weird/random stuff, but he keeps it interesting. He plays my favorite spots in Dallas, and he's always good. Half the time he's using the name Maetrik. But he did some techno I really like under the name Mariel Ito.
I respectfully disagree with him on the performance part. I mean, I'm just one dude, he probably knows alot better on how it works in the whole "scene". When I'm at a club and see Jeff Mills or Robert Hood (when I'm at a club, I mean, when I WAS, almost a year ago, pre-covid, rip...) play, and they're completely focused on their decks and tearing the club down. I, personally, can have so much more respect for guys like that, than for example EDM dudes/dudettes who jump around their stage acting like clowns. Ofcourse there's a grey middle ground, but this is just my two cents. I once saw an interview with Moodymann (might be on this youtube chanel), where he talked about how he disliked the whole "rockstar" status that got into the techno/house scene, and he'd prefer to let the music speak, and play outside of the sight of the audience. Also an interview with DVS1, with his wall of sound, and how the sound is more important than the performer. I find something quite romantic about that.
As a DJ,it is about the music, programming, and the dancers, not dancing and jumping around behind the controls. If you're truly busy on the decks, creating, remixing, and improvising, there's not much time to be hopping around.Let the music and the vibe speak for you,as the DJs job is to highlight music, sound, and set the mood.If someone is not being creative while making music, that's either their failure to learn how,or by locking oneself into a box.People should be thinking for themselves and using tools they have mastered, not just because a device or software happens to be trendy.Learn how to be versatile, and to use various tools, like Hawtin,Steve Dee,DJ Krush,etc,etc...
Haha maceo back in the day was my favourite artist, I mean he's still up there although I listen to different forms of music now. Anyway, at the time my graffiti tag was Solar which just became apparent to me is the name of his kid.
I WAS LISTENING TO EVERYTHING YOU SAID, AND I THINK YOUR A GOOD PERSON, AND YOUR HONEST, AND GENUINE ..YOU STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND TO YOUR FAMILY...AND EVERYTHING WILL JUST FINE....TODAY YOU CAN ADD ME AS A NEW FAN...
My favorite DJ, there is noone better than Maceo Plex.
What a humble and congenial bloke. Really refreshing.

this guys genius came after years and years of hard non stop work
This is also true for honing his skills.

Stay awkward behind those decks my friend cause there isn"t a better show on this PLANET!!!!!!
DJ’s aren’t performers they mix records for people to dance too. I don’t understand when it got twisted. Keep the DJ’s in the clubs
boring.
Hahaha for you
well, this statement wins the internet for the most ignorant comment ever
