The last knitted vest pattern you showed can probably be altered to have thicker straps by either stopping the decreases early (the same angle continuing straight up with a wider strap) or switching some decrease rows for non-decreasing rows (the angle would be steeper and the straps wider). Usually pattern designers can give advice on those types of alterations. I really love the picot edge detail at the bottom; it’s very cute!
Hello. I really liked your perspective on using up your existing fabrics, then “rewarding” yourself with new purchases… wise. I am not sure I will describe well what I am thinking for the semi-sheer pink fabric, but I will try. I imagine a shrug-like, wrap style cover-up top that has wide long sleeves and ties at the waist that you could layer over a cami top or wear over a dress. I see it being floaty and feminine. Hope that sparks an idea. Best wishes.

Oh Sally, so many lovely plans for these beautiful fabrics you have!! I honestly think it’s better to have a small and well curated stash of fabric than overwhelmingly much (no matter if you have the storage for it or not). And it’s good to use it up before buying new fabric because otherwise you can easily fall out of love or forget about it and it’s just not working. I definitely want to sew my way through my stash (which is too big!!!) now, deciding which fabrics are worth it and which ones might have to go. I want to declutter! It’s just too much and it overwhelmes me (and attracts moths 😭). I wish I had more time at the moment to actually do it, I miss sewing so much!!! Sorry for the ramble!! Please keep your fingers crossed for me for I can start sewing again 💕💕💕

But as you suggest, I am going to try and get through what I've already got first. I have been very inspired by seeing your makes and have made several Jarrah sweater/jumpers after being impressed by yours. Interestingly, you've mentioned a number of Style Arc patterns in today's session and I am currently working on their Italia shirt dress in a nice drapey denim. Looking forward to seeing your warm weather makes. For a short, cropped jacket, I really like the Closet Core Siena Maker’s Jacket. It has more of a slight swing silhouette rather than the boxier silhouette of then style Arc pattern you’re considering. Plus it has lots of lovely, unusual details such as the back button placket. It is a more involved make worthy of pulling out all your Houdini mad seam finishing skills. Enjoy your Spring sewing.

I like your patterns picks for summer, lots of inspiration, I'm trying to work with the patterns I have but there are so many new 'shiny' patterns. For the knitted vest, West yorkshire Spinners have some nice summer patterns for their Elements DK, which is viscose yarn. I bought a pattern book called 'Timeless Summer' for the Elements yarn last year (in John Lewis), I made a sleeveless vest and a short sleeved knitted T with lace yoke, both were successful, it has 3 vest tops in it including a stripped one. The yarn was lovely to work with and is a reasonable price.

I'm getting into Style Arc too. Making the Bob pants today but had to unpick the waistband as they are too big, have to reduce the length of the body by 11/2 inches. Love the fit though. I too have stash to use up. Good luck with your sewing, look forward to seeing what you make
Seems or I has a ruffled top called Fifer. I made it and love it. I am short from shoulder to underarm so I added 3/8 to the armscye and it fits perfectly.
I have been enjoying your channel for quite a while now, thank you. Your pick of the Style Arc ruffled blouse pattern caught my eye and I am sure I have something (a lot of things) in my stash that I can use LOL. A suggestion for the knitted top - when you showed your high street inspiration photo, I immediately thought of Joni by Natasja Hornby. Her version is a bit see through but that would depend on the yarn you used.
I have just made the Style Arc Smith Jacket and I would really recommend it. I’ve made mine in moleskin and I’ve worn it loads. I am intending to make another and I think it would be great in a heavier linen.
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress as usual with Style Arc I went a bit off piste but it’s a deceptively straightforward make. My tip would be, as it is unlined, I did bias bound seams that worked really well.

Great vlog as always - very Inspiring 😊 I too have seen many linen co-ord sets and have just purchased some chocolate linen viscose for the make. I too was thinking Esti vibes but reluctant to purchase as have the safya pattern. I have ascertained that the main difference is the Esti trouser is wider leg and a has a waistband. I’d be keen to learn what top you decide to make 😊.
I love the idea of summer knits but it's so humid in the summer where I live, even cotton knits are unbearable. Silk or linen yarn might be a better option but my frugal little heart won't allow me to make that investment lol.

Ooh chocolate linen will be lovely! I wonder if it would be easy to widen the Safiyas a little? Interesting we had the same idea - good taste haha.
