- The 2022 Kia K5 is a very impressive car and poses as a problem for its competition. Its sporty styling and beautiful interior makes it seem more than its worth, but is it enough to compete with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord?

Nice solid review, you covered everything very well. I purchased a new K5 GT LINE with premium package in passion red last May. It has been great..comfortable, quick, decent gas mileage, drove it to las vegas 3 times over the summer, 80 85 mph all the way, AC cranked on, still got 35 36 mpg. all around good car. Glad I bought when I did, no mark up, paid just under 29.000 here in Southern California. Also got 0.0 intrest thru kia finance, that just sweetened the deal.

0.0 interest? Under 29k? Ahh i don’t believe you Rick haha I got mine 6 months ago with credit score on top of 800 points and still got a 3.2 APR PLUS THE CAR WAS 35,415 dlls. Mine is a AWD K5 GT LINE PREMIUM PACKAGE. Full sunroof, heated seats and steering wheel, 10.2 inch touchscreen all the high features. I’m gonna pay 39k total for this car and you paid under 29k and 0.0 APR. BULL💩 LOL

Love my 22 K5 in Wolf Grey, plastidiped the badges and gas cover black and had the chrome around the windows vinyl wrapped black. Goes great with 20% all around tints!
@The_Legend 350 I got mine back in June, dealership did not get it until July. Model I have does not have all the bells and whistles but it is all wheel drive which is what was more important to me because I live in Illinois. There was no markup at that time but I've heard there is now.

I got a 2021 GT Line like 2 days ago and first impressions so far are flying positives. My favorite feature so far is it can almost drive itself which makes heavy traffic less stressful. I just slap auto steering and smart cruise control on when traffic comes to a stop on the highway. We'll see if I still love it 2 years and above from now. So far, this is a car I look forward to jumping into when I get out of the house. I just wish mine had that gorgeous Kia badge on the hood.

Same here but for me is either this or the 1.5 sport accord , I like the rims on the accord sport but I like the interior on this k5 better.

Truly appreciate the commentary about the stinger. Sounds crazy, but I’m on the fence between the two cars. Stinger awd 2.5 vs gt line K5 awd.
If you need to go 160mph then get the Stinger. If you don't live near the Autobahn then get the K5.
I just bought this exact car (black not red interior) and it arrived today (stoked). Same GT-1 Premium package. I will tell you that dealerships are marking up these cars (Wolf Gray - GT-1 Premium) by $5-10K. I got mine at $37,500 out the door. SO PLEASE beat my price and don't accept anything more than what I paid. If you are in California - Please hit up my guy Angle at Car Pro of Moreno Valley. He will work on getting you the best price available!
p.s. I was trying to get the K5 GT in Carlsbad same. It was out the door at $45K... I tried to negotiate to get to around $42.5K but they came back and gave me $300 off... I walked.

The irony is I had to factory order mine to get a black interior. I hate red and the dealerships by me only have red interiors. The sales manager told me they only order red because thats what people want.

I have a 2021 Forte gt line but wish I could’ve come across the k5 at the time I was searching
I own both a '21 K5 GT-LINE premium pkg AWD and '21 HONDA ACCORD SPORT 2.0T. I love the sexy looks of the K5 with plenty of tech. However, the HONDA has awesome handling and performance. The steering of the K5 isn't as stiff as I like it. I wish wireless connectivity with Android Auto would come with the 10.25" display in the K5. The HONDA feels more solid than the KIA but the KIA has less road noise. I question whether my K5 will age well and maintain good trade-in allowance.
I was thinking of getting the 1.5 sport 2019 accord because I heard the 2.0 sport can have issues. Have you had any issues with yours personally? because I definitely like the 2.0 sport over the 1.5 sport
@@shoutace The only thing that disappoints me about the 2.0T Accord is the low average gas milage (16 mpg in city). To put this in perspective, I'm only getting 18 mpg in city with my 2021 K5 gt-line. Both of these results are below EPA estimates. Maybe because of my driving habits: city driving stop & go for short distances.
@@Maureentv1 thats a horror mpg, you must drive agressive or in constant stop and go traffic. I get those mpgs with 6 cylinder suv

I test drove one and I'm thinking to buy one but can some owners share the experience with squeaking sound with brakes, my test drive model had it and when googled found that it has problem with brakes..is there any K5 owned that have put on some km and can comment

I got one just like this and really like it but I have 2 small issues so I wonder if you have noticed these things.
1) there's a decent amount of wind noise from the driver window, like there's a gap somewhere letting air in, idk.
2) The ac control area has a bit of a squeaky sound sometimes, and if you press on the right bottom edge you can feel it move a bit, if this was tightened up I'm sure the squeak would go away.
I'm gonna ask the dealer to fix these and see what they can do. Other than those things, I really like this car, almost everything about it, just wish I could afford the GT model lol.

There's a 2021 fix for it, go to your dealer and they will pad it based on that notification from Kia.

When I went to deal I explained the issue.
They looked it up on the computer and saw that there was a fix for the issue from Kia that was issued for the 2021 model.
Odd they didn't simply fix it for 2022

Not entirely sure but would not be surprising, as my RWD Stinger has no heated steering wheel while the AWD models do

Do you get ventilated seats?
No, sadly only on the EX or the GT. EX is basically all the tech & comfort features, GT-Line is all the aggressive styling changes & wheels, etc.. GT gives you the best of both, but with a way more powerful engine (and worse mileage of course).

Since it just came out, it’s hard to tell, but it’s backed by a 100,000 mile, 10 year power train warranty so by that measure, I would assume so. Also, my 2018 Kia Stinger has been reliable.

What the hell would it take for KIA for put Vents in the rear of the console. Is KIA insane? It's almost as ridiculous as those fake, phony, fraud, exhaust slots. Even my 2022 Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus has an actual decent looking exhaust tip coming out the rear right side of the car. My 2022 also has rear vents. Come on KIA the K5 GT-Line is on the exact same level as the SEL Plus.

I couldn't care less where the exhaust comes out from, as long as it gets out. I don't drive down the road thinking about EXHAUST TIPS, and no one driving behind gives a dam either. And its absolutely not a new thing, my 58 cadillac has fake exhaust ports!
