This song saw saw me through my lowest ebb, when I was made homeless and at the same time found out my oldest and dearest friend had taken his own life. This song.
The open road. The wind in your hair. The big sky surrounds you as you travel by, so many places remembered a city you know like the back of your hand'---- all the best places, the best foods, i'll take it and embrace it money to be made, adventures to be had, and we ride on without a worry in the world!
I discover the wheel and watch the buildings go by You talk a little soft, turn off the radio I just want to hear all the past times The rushed hours, the endless lives Don't become a burden Say the word and be free You will find a great weight lifting Easing your mind, a great weight lifting Just leave it behind, a great weight lifting And you will find a great weight lifting It's been a lonely winter hibernating away You need a little sunlight on that face How long can you stay in the darkness? Dust round the empty nest? You could make you way out If you lay down the load You will find a great weight lifting Easing your mind, a great weight lifting Leave it behind, a great weight lifting You will find a great weight lifting Just leave it behind, a great weight lifting And you will find a great weight lifting
Can we start a thread of more songs like this one? Blood pressure medication via music, not meds 🎵 ❤️ ... Another track that always made me feel better about life when things feel hopelessly heavy is "Empty Room" by Marjorie Fair. Kind of obscure, but those are the best songs...
I love this song. I remember watching a black and white music video (VH1 or MTV, it's a live performance I think) of this band when I was younger, I fell in love right away.
I have a 'comfort playlist' in my mind for the times I need music for solace and consolation. There's the staples - 'Let It Be', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' etc... but this is the song i've turned to most in the last 15 years or so - it's perfect, I love the interplay of the arpeggiated guitars but it's the achingly beautiful vocal that's like a punch in the gut and a warm embrace at the same time - sometimes music's the only adequate response🖤
it's crazy how the song is much shorter than most songs nowadays but it goes by so quickly... i love the entirety of this- the guitars, the video, the lyrics. a truly freeing experience.
This is a fantastic song. Love the lyrics and can relate to them. The song is more about relationship building yet I find comfort in leaving relationships that were not good. Relationships work or they don't. Get out if they are not good.
Yes, Frank Reader is up there with fellow Scottish vocalists Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Tracy Anne Campbell (Camera Obscura) and of course the incomparable Elizabeth Fraser (The Cocteau Twins). Pure gold! 🙏🙏🙏🏴👍
Found this song on free cd with magazine. I confess I stole the cd and left magazine in shop lol. This song was on the CD and I loved it instantly. Check out mm live acoustic tunes put in Ross Heathorn merry go round or Ross Heathorn dance all night. Theres 20 on there so must be 1 u like people peace x
I still have the Brazilliant album which was excellent. Looks like they have a 12 inch called "Passion" released in 1989. Probably need Indiana Jones to find a copy of it.
Was this used in a well known Film or TV show, does anyone know? trying to remember how I discovered it...lovely song, so beautiful, so sad, so melodic, just amazing.
Don't know if the original poster is still here, but I'm curious about the source of the home movie footage...was it all from the band or is it just found footage?
i'm sorry TCS if i knew how to give you the highest thumbs up rating i would for every song and vid that you have but i haven't mastered that yet,i'd probably end up shooting you the finger, with my luck , Love you all :>} xoxo
I like the trashcan But I think they need a new mixing engineer that understands the need for the vocals to cut thorough when the mix gets more instrumental Frank to my mind has a special voice but it so often gets obscured by the mix in song after song in album after album What is going on? I don’t think it’s just me Basically no other high level band produces albums with this screeching guitar etc mix which I find so annoying and such a waste of talent
Only just discovered this, and it’s gorgeous.
The way the guitars interweave over such a beautiful chord sequence...
Went to go see them three nights ago in Los Angeles... my best buddy cried when they played this... a marvelous song and experience
This is one of the best songs I have ever heard and it's going on the soundtrack to my life.

😔
Perhaps the most beautiful song ever recorded.
I shed tears the first time I listened to this song and don't know how many times I' ve ever played.Beautiful.
YAS me too. It speaks to my soul. It's stunningly beautiful and redemptive
One of the most perfect songs made by a band that tends to make a bunch of perfect songs.
One of most the beautiful song ever written. The chorus is just magnificent
this song is climbing my best ever charts. such precious, dreamy pop.
Delightful song , The Trash Cans have always been so terribly but nicely straight to the heart ......................so full of nostalgia

This song literally lowers my blood pressure. I love it.
When I was in constant pain, this was the song I would play on repeat as I tried to manage my sickness.

Beautiful, beautiful tune....
My favorite band of the 90's, saw them in concert with L Kage who were also very good. Glad to have them back, the album was outstanding
This song has not dated. Every element is perfect: the poetry, pathos, arrangement and the message. Thank you Trash Can Sinatras!!
I love this song forever.
Great vocals. Beautiful song.
Absolutely beautiful song from such a wonderful band. Lyrics of this song are so true.
finally breaks into the UK album charts this week after all these years , well deserved.
I love this song. I remember watching a black and white music video (VH1 or MTV, it's a live performance I think) of this band when I was younger, I fell in love right away.
Gorgeous video. Just like the song - dreamy, nostalgic, and bittersweet. Thanks so much for uploading it.

Oh, and just to say that this is one of the most gorgeous recordings ever made.
yes, they have at least five from that category i would say - check 'genius i was' for starters
Don't know what it is about these guys, but to me their sense of melody is pretty much perfect.
this song makes me feel incredibly nostalgic. i heard it for the first time 2 days ago.
can't get enough of it. wow
Saint Andrews Hall in Detroit. Outstanding show, my favorite part was when they came out and said "We are Duran Duran"

Soulfull
Il est difficile de transcrire ce que l'on peut ressentir en écoutant ce titre... une pure merveille de recueillement.
it's crazy how the song is much shorter than most songs nowadays but it goes by so quickly... i love the entirety of this- the guitars, the video, the lyrics. a truly freeing experience.

Superb.
Beautiful song :)
This is a fantastic song. Love the lyrics and can relate to them. The song is more about relationship building yet I find comfort in leaving relationships that were not good. Relationships work or they don't. Get out if they are not good.

one of the best songs ever: think Roxy Music, Blue Nile

@@jannuzijannuzicharlescharl3260 It certainly is . . . even on this track in some points But there-again I am not surprised that you can't hear that
Anyone here from reddit lmao
Here from some friends circa 99
It's insane how healing this is, it literally removes the layers and eases me, so much that I nearly cried, but I don't want others to hear me.
