For all of you who love this song you should know some informations about it. This is the old folk song from Nerodimlje, a small area and village from south Kosovo, next to Šar mountaine. It was noted in the end of the 19th century. Village Nerodimlje is known as place where some of serbian medieval kings from Nemanjic dinasty lived (this song called ''Grow up, grow up my green pine tree'', is about them). The legend says that king Milutin and emperor Dušan the Great planted two pine trees. During centuries, for about 650 years, people from the village made a lot of legends, rituals and songs about these two trees, and one of theese songs is this song. Theese trees were very high, big and very unusual, impressive and old too. In 1932, king Milutin's tree was crushed down bu the storm, and then in 1999, Albanian criminals crushed down another tree, and burned small old medieval church in village.
I have visited Serbia twice. In both visits every morning as I commenced my sightseeing whether it was Belgrade, Pancevo, Nis, Novi Sad, Sremski Karlovci, I always thought of this song as the morning sun shined on the beautiful Serbian fields and mountains.

Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - the grave, where her fiancé died in battle.

@dženita sa drine Actually a lot of Armenians were settled in the Balkans by the Byzantines - most particularly in Greece and areas around there, but Armenians did also settle in Serbia. & known communities of Armenians living in Serbia would help finance the rebuilding of certain Serbian churches/monasteries after the Ottomans destroyed them.
It`s been almost 6 years since I uploaded this video. Thank you all for the likes and comments about the song. One of my favourite for all times and Savior is a truly amazing movie, strongly recommend it. I believe you can find the complete soundtrack somewhere online or maybe even here on youtube if someone else has uploaded it. It`s quite difficult to translate the song in English as it has quite deep meaning, which perhaps won`t be easy to understand if you are not from a Balkan country. It`s better if you just watch the movie, it will show you everything. Enjoy it and keep the peace going. :-)
my dear Mira, first of all thank you for uploading. This song gives me instant tears from the first second even though I don't understand the lyrics. this is truly a masterpiece.

I am Armenian and I really like this song (from Savior movie. Very touching movie). If i am not wrong, the translation in English is : Grow, grow my green pine; if only I could climb up to your top, and to look down to the roads; at the side of a road is green grass, there is my sweetheart sleeping. Thanks to the President of Serbia for being at Yerevan on April 24, 2015 for the Armenian Genocide commemoration. I won't forget.

Kamran Yousaf This is the song from one serbian movie which is called Savior. This song is speaking about holy Serbian land Kosovo and Metohija and about holy serbian dynasty of Nemanjic. The song was writen in 19th century in Nerodimlje on Kosovo. Before that, it was being saved for a hundred's of years, since the batlle on Kosovo polje in 1389. Later, it was noted by famous serbian writter Branislav Nusic. I tried to explain you what this song means for our culture. Kosovo is the most important land in serbian history. There were the holy serbian dynasty of Nemanjic, there are still so many monasteries from that period. I hope you understood something from this. Sorry for my bad english, i'm not so good in it. Greetings for you from Serbia !!!!!!!!
Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
It is a Serbian song originates from Kosovo and Metohiya part of Serbia. As for Bulgarians no disrespect but majority of "Bulgarians" are Slavic Serbs (Europeans) hence the reason why Bulgarian is old Serbian and is about 80% same as modern Serbian language, whilst the smaller dominant make up are Tartars (Mongol) (Asiatic) who invaded under mongol leader Khan Kubrat known as what is today Bulgaria. Mongol or Turkic languages have almost no similarity to Serbian or Slavic (European) languages therefore this song cannot be Bulgarian! There is a simple giveaway sign that tells us what is Bulgaria. Slavs call Hungary - Ugarska and Bulgarians (B)-ugarska. As we can see both nationalities are one of the same with the Bulgarians having “B” as a prefix! :)
***** Stop saying shits,Bulgaria is on the Balkan penincula since 6th decade, serbian lands were almost predominant part of Bulgarian empire for a long period of time-centuries,you serbs are megalomans, thats what brought you the war and all that shit you have done to Balkan people.Bulgarian orthodox church is the first in which slavic language was used,we and byzantium were the dominants on Balkan in medevil so stop talking nonsence.Although the song is serbian :)
Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
It really is a beautiful song. Listening to this you want to believe that humanity can improve and maybe evolve out of our thirst for hatred, ignorance and apathy.
Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
amazing movie and such a haunting song. Don't understand a word of the lyrics but the sheer power of expression and emotion shines in all its brilliance. If you haven't watched Savior, highly recommended that you do. This song ties in so integrally to the story. Thanks for the upload, dear poster.
Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
Extremely powerful movie. Saw it back in the 90's and always remembered how beautiful the music was. I think it slipped through the cracks unfortunatly.
It's a really old song from Kosovo (Serbia), about father and son, Milutin (king) i Dušan (czar), from medieval Nemanjić dynasty, who were died, but they were planted pine trees. Song is litterally, when Milutin's wife/ Dušan's mother telling to pine trees to grow (instead of husband and son). "Rasti, rasti moj zeleni bore" literally means "grow, grow my green pine"...
Grow, grow, my green pine, So i can climb on you to the tops, So i can look down the roads, Where the grass is green by the road, That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress... Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
650 years ago, Serbian emperor planted 2 small pines in the yard of the monastery he build. For 6 centuries, they grow really really high. In 1930, one pine is destroyed by storm, but in 1999 other pine was burned in riot, by ethnic Albanians who are living on the part of Serbia called Kosovo. Pine was burned together with monastery, because they want to erase every trace of Serbs on that area. This song calls those pines to keep growing higher up, until they reach holly mountains, because Serbs want to use them to climb to the heavenly heights.

This is old serbian etno song from Kosovo. As we can see, language of this song is Serbian not Albanian. What on this have to say Albanians?! Imagine: old traditional song from Kosovo is sang on serbian language and everything is related with Serbs. Meanwhile Albanians: This song is albanian, Kosovo is albanian. On the other side everyone who now anything about Europe can understand and relate that landguage of this song is Slavic-Serbian.

I dont understand, but great respect from Pakistan. ..
Marko Petrović killers.
Grow, grow, my green pine,
So i can climb on you to the tops,
So i can look down the roads,
Where the grass is green by the road,
That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress...
Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,

Love this song Serbia hawe Beautiful Slavic Song :)
Greetings Sister .
Milica Srpkinjica mala Greetng Sister :)
Its bulgarian song, like most of the movie's songs ;)
Love this song!

It really is a beautiful song. Listening to this you want to believe that humanity can improve and maybe evolve out of our thirst for hatred, ignorance and apathy.
Hashpotato It's a very emotional song, but not very optimistic when it comes to ''evolving out of our thirst for hatred, ignorance and apathy''.

amazing movie and such a haunting song. Don't understand a word of the lyrics but the sheer power of expression and emotion shines in all its brilliance. If you haven't watched Savior, highly recommended that you do. This song ties in so integrally to the story. Thanks for the upload, dear poster.

Extremely powerful movie. Saw it back in the 90's and always remembered how beautiful the music was. I think it slipped through the cracks unfortunatly.
Mystic song. Beautiful
i can't understand this song" rasti " but it is very heart touching I was listening it since 1998
it means Grow "Grow and grow my green pine tree-Rasti rasti moj zeleni bore"
It's a really old song from Kosovo (Serbia), about father and son, Milutin (king) i Dušan (czar), from medieval Nemanjić dynasty, who were died, but they were planted pine trees. Song is litterally, when Milutin's wife/ Dušan's mother telling to pine trees to grow (instead of husband and son). "Rasti, rasti moj zeleni bore" literally means "grow, grow my green pine"...
Grow, grow, my green pine,
So i can climb on you to the tops,
So i can look down the roads,
Where the grass is green by the road,
That's where my darling sleeps on the mattress...
Meaning - The girl begs the pine to grow up, so that she can see the place from its top - possible the grave, where her darling ,,sleeps,,
I don't know what she's singing about but I felt it and got goosebumps.

I heard this song in the movie 'Savior'.
Greetings from India.
Rasti rasti moj zeleni bore
Rasti rasti moj zeleni bore
Da se penjem tebe o vrhove
Da ja stignem sve do Svete Gore
Tu je carska lavra Hilandara
svetorodne loze Nemanjića
izabranih Bogom carevića
Svetog Simeona i Save
što zemaljske dvore ostaviše
i dušom se Nebu priljubiše
Rasti rasti moj zeleni bore
❤💪

Me encanta la pelicula Savior 🇦🇷
This is old serbian etno song from Kosovo. As we can see, language of this song is Serbian not Albanian. What on this have to say Albanians?! Imagine: old traditional song from Kosovo is sang on serbian language and everything is related with Serbs.
Meanwhile Albanians: This song is albanian, Kosovo is albanian.
On the other side everyone who now anything about Europe can understand and relate that landguage of this song is Slavic-Serbian.
Wonderful!
Beautiful, just beautiful. Dont understand anything, so guys what does this song mean ?
Min hev zanîbu bi Kurdîye!
