The "peel the bottom" trick was really eye-opening. I loathe wasting food more than almost anything and am always down to find a way to throw less out.

Honestly I usually never use them raw. They have a taste reminiscent of ginger, but I usually prefer to pickle them which enhances the ginger taste and minimizes a bit of that soapy, bitterness. Thanks for watching!!
If you have that gene there isn’t much you can do :( I just lucked out. But the recipe is definitely not written in stone! Substitute with some basil or mint so you can have something that brings a little bitter herbaceous quality without the dish soap vibe

what do magnolia blossoms taste like? to me they smell perfumey, almost soapy so I've never considered eating them.
