Mr. Kojima has been pretty honest about the films that inspire him. Snake from Metal Gear is inspired by the hero with the same name from "Escape from New York." Oh and Snatcher has a lot in common with Terminator. If you love Policenauts try Snatcher. It's another great gem.

The patched version of Policenauts is so cool I was able to pickup a limited edition repro with the patch at the last PRGE. Super high quality job on it, full color super glossy cover and the discs look very similar to working designs, iridescent and shiny.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've ever covered Bahamut's Lagoon for the SNES. It's a tactical RPG made by squaresoft. You can download a patched rom so your not totally stuck as it's pretty unplayable in Japanese.
The Lethal Weapon thing just blew my damn mind. I'd heard of but never seen Policenauts before and in seeing it my mind just said "Oh. Anime designs." You literally had to show Lethal Weapon there and now I can't unsee it. They're the spitting image! It's nuts! :D

Uppers for PlayStation Vita. It came out last year in Japan 🇯🇵 but has yet to get a western release. It seems like a decent brawler with lots of style.
PSA(that lots of commenters probably already pointed out) Chalvo 55 is a semi-sequel to the unreleased Virtual Boy game Bound High where you controlled the ball form of Chalvo bouncing on enemies from a top-down perspective, made awesome by the Virtual Boy's 3D capabilities. A rom as well as reproduction cartridges are available, try it if you have a Virtual Boy!
Fun fact: Super Mad Champ was originally going to be made as a Kunio-kun racing game based on the motorcycle gameplay segment on Japan-only Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-tachi no Banka.

The Saturn port of Policenauts is awesome and emulates very well on modern computers
Back in the day I ran an online petition on Usenet to get Konami to release Policenauts on the US Saturn. I think we ended with 300k names.
