I love Celine. Great voice and stunning as hell, but this is purely Freddie’s song and no one sings it better. Perfectly said nr99 and is your screen name from the animated film Wizards? I have a clip of Brian playing acoustic and Freddie sing Love of My Life in I think Montreal, early 80s. Many in the crowd dont know the song, some are singing along and Freddie is sad as you can see it, hear it and feel; and he says to Brian, "they dont know it" and Brian says "thats ok". You can also feel Brians recognition of Freedie's feeling of this. Quite Beautiful to feel this right in the middle of the song. I was a kid in the late 70s when I played my 45 We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions a billion times a day to my Mom, Dad and Older Brother coming in to tell me to "play something else, you are going to wear out the record." Still my overall favorite band of all time coming in ahead of Rush, Tool and Police/Sting and a modern favorite of the the Awesome Florence and The Machine

She was amazing, but you can never replace Freddie, nobody can persuade the audience like Freddie to sing the song, Freddie could literally say “its all yours” and the crowd would sing the song, like ay oh at live aid, also there’s just something almost in the back of Freddie’s throat that made his singing perfect with the perfect level of control of his voice, even when he was being affected by AIDS he could control when to alternate the song in such a way that sounds completely different and yet gets the crowd roaring and cheering.
Every singer plays tribute to their inspirations. I think this was an impromptu tribute and good for her. We all know Freddie was a genius. That cannot be denied... I cannot think of another living singer that could pay this kind of respect. I would have loved to hear Whitney pay respect the way she did to Aretha with Ain't No Way.
She’s a big fan of Freddie Mercury and why not? He’s the best singer in the universe for me. He wrote a lot of good songs that’s really timeless and still earning til now.
