If you do not have whistle
Register naturally, you should not attempt it. You can only access it by extreme tension in the throat and improper vocal cord closure. It will actually diminish the rest of your range. Singing constantly at the extreme ends of your range, low or high, is bad for the voice. I developed muscle tension dysphonia and when trying to hit notes in my higher range, it would switch to a whole octave above. Notes I never had before. I thought it was cool at first. But after learning I had developed extreme tension in my neck muscles after a sickness, it made sense. My advice. Don’t do it. It is bad to also try and teach others ways to destroy their voices….

Maybe you approached it in an unhealthy manner ?
Surely no one has mastery of any range until they try, carefully ?

@ I developed muscle tension dysphonia after having the flu. I lost an octave and a half of my range. Never hit whistle notes before in my life. I could sing F#6 in head voice. Never tried reaching higher. As my range slowly came back, I would try to hit a high C and it would turn into a C7. My whole point is, it makes sense because I had developed extreme tension in those muscles around my vocal cord and tried to sing around it, causing the whistle notes. I am still continuing on my healing journey, but avoiding those notes now. Mariah Carey has trashed her voice from doing this. She has lost all agility and legato. Her singing is choppy now and you can hear the tension as she sings. You can also see it in her jaw as she pulls it forward. Whistle register is a party trick and should not be done at all, but if you really want to, as little as possible. There is a video on RUclips where an opera singer talks about the dangers of whistle register. Singers who use this register and don’t have the notes naturally talk about how some days they can’t access that range. Because it’s not a part of their voice. A famous opera singer who overused her high notes had to have vocal surgery three times. Whistle tones are useless for voice work.

In Manuel Garcia's book "Hints on Singing"....he says the notes after high D ...if these notes do not happen spontaneously these notes should never be attempted. After lots of training I find sopranos spontaneously flip into this range. It must always be floated and not pushed at all.
