    They’ve said many times that their goal in most songs, when writing, is to make each other laugh. That helps us understand their writing better I think. They’re just having fun.

      You know the other cool thing about them is that they're best friends and they have been since they were early teens. Close enough to be brothers. Really cool. They were a band for more than 30 yrs.

    My Uncle had a Volkswagen gti back In The 80’s with the slaps and he used to bump beastie boys. I was like 5 when I first heard this because my uncle.

    Animated, yeah they were pure entertainers! Notice how simple most lyrics are, but the delivery is ON POINT. Changed up style for every album always fresh AF! And the sample is lowrider :P

    Yup, angel dust was a thing amongst some crowds. Either smoking dust in a blunt or cocaine. Wula/Woola/Woolah is what they called a laced blunt.

    Happy Birthday! Seeing all these Beastie Boy reaction videos are just what I need. These guys blew us away. I was 12 years old when this album came out in 86’. This was their only Def Jam album, produced by Rick Rubin. They rolled and went to Capitol and has full creative control over their music. You’re in for a great time, my friend.

    A small fact about this album, which went #1, The Beastie Boys royalties were cut off from them. Depending on whose story you believe, they were told to go into the studio to record the follow up, or they were not going to get paid the millions owed to them. They refused, and actually broke up at one point. According to the Beastie Boys, they were actually broke after this album, the tour that followed, and not speaking to each other. If interested, look into the fine details of all that went on behind the scenes. They were almost a one album band.

    Yeah that style that the Beastie Boys rap is called interchange They learn how to write raps from Run DMC and that's the style of Run DMC uses so that's why they rap like that it's called interchange

      I requested this because no one was mentioning this one and I like the Low Rider" sample which gave it a different sound from all the other tracks On this masterpiece album. It may have been filler, but it doesn't take away that it is still a great song.
