To choose the best stem take into account the longiness of your handlebar - the amount of torque. With an underestimated skinny stem there would be tons of flex and its a scary experience. My usual brand choice is Syntace. This short checklist eliminates at least 90% of the market: -Choose from real, not young brands, not some labeled OEM so folks already have some personal experiences. -It should be reasonably light, but not too light. -Strict testing protocol and good warranty. -Design that not harm your knees. -No stress risers in the design. -Long threads/screws or bigger size holes. -Wide, carbon neck friendly continious clamping area (no radical cutouts - guillotine effect). -No burrs or sharp edges on any clamping surfaces! -What type of alloy do you prefer?
Seatpost: I prefer some flex. So flexy carbon or titanium for my hardtrails. I can only remember the "Syntace HiFlex", my premium Merida factory post and some Ti exotics -Morati, Rewel. Bars: if carbon: reinforcements or inlays for the clamping areas (stem, grips).
