Thank you so much for this video. Someone brought us this exact model with a bad m.2 and we replaced, but couldn't get it to boot to USB for Windows install. The instructions in this video worked! Liked and Subscribed!
Thanks a ton mate ! After upgrading SSD and installing OS on SSD, I faced a BSOD error showing a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Then if I went to BIOS and exit it would start normally. I tried cmd and tried creating a new EFI partition on SSD hoping windows would boot from new EFI but all failed. Finally the answer found in disabling Fastboot and changing sequence of boot. So silly but you video helped a great deal. Thanks again
slightly off topic but related: some newer acers bios/FW hide sata options .... ctrl+s from main bios menu to unhide ...... discovered while I couldn't get any usb boot tools to even see the nvme for cloning
in the new 2020 Acer AN5 15-55 Nitro 5, the bios doesnt allow you to set AHCI mode just like that. You have to in Windows OS set safeboot , then reboot, hot F2 into bios , then in bios >main>press ctrl-S then you set sata to AHCI mode. Seems they made it more difficult in 2020 Nitro 5.
I have the rev 5.0 bios on the 2020 model. After all this it still gives me 2 options for windows boot manager. Did you erase the secure boot settings?
@@GeneralTsosChix yes you have to disable secure boot to change to ahci mode. and to access the special menu like i said you need to boot into safe mode, then F2 goto bios, then in "main" press ctrl-s then you can change SATA > AHCI mode. then reboot you will be in safe mode in windows. then its easy just disable safe mode when you are inside windows ; full instructions here Click the Start Button and type cmd Right-click the result and select Run as administrator -Type this command and press ENTER: bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal (ALT: bcdedit /set safeboot minimal) -Restart the computer and enter BIOS Setup (press ctrl-s in "main" section in bios) -Change the SATA Operation mode to AHCI from either IDE or RAID -Save changes and exit Setup and Windows will automatically boot to Safe Mode. -Right-click the Windows Start Menu once more. Choose Command Prompt (Admin). -Type this command and press ENTER: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot (ALT: bcdedit /deletevalue safeboot) -Reboot once more and Windows will automatically start with AHCI drivers enabled

I had problem with new nitro 5 which already came with preinstaled linux efi shell. I needed to instal the win 10 pro and it was for the client and i dont eaven need the linux at all. It turns into nightmare cause if i try to instal win on the drive ( after turning SB off first ) the primary ssd wanst showing in win instalation. At first i thought its cause the ssd was preformated to exfat cause preinstaled linux but ater i took the ssd out and conected it through the m.2 bracket to my desktop win pc i realized there is 2 partititons 1st the efi shell partittion and 2nd the win drivers partititon which win disk utility canot delete. I was unable to see that ssd eaven in diskpart and i had no luck deleating that 2 partitions in fdisk using linux instal media eather. After i find a program on web that was able to clean whole disk and clean both those partitions i had fealing that my job is done :) sadly eaven after that i didnt saw that ssd in win instalation. Ok i had to think about it more. I took it out again and this time i formated it to exfat also had to change the disk to active again after that action. Also created new bootable media for win 10 pro with uefi support using rufus as always and after that i was finaly able to see that ssd during the win instalation proces. But i was unable to instal win on it cause it say the windows is unable to instal on others than NTFS drives ( suprised cause i thought the exfat is suported with all linux, win and also apple OS. But i realized that no wersion of win can be instaled on exfat preformated drive. You need to instal win on NTFS formated drive and then create new partition that you formate on exfat to instal other OS (linux ,apple OS) on it. Ok so i change the file format back on NTFS and try to instal win again. Ok win canot be instaled on that drive error again. When i look at the disk again in win using the usb m.2 bracket i finaly find the problem. The ssd was whole time on MBR and it needed to be GPT to win instalation can be proceed. After changing that and also again formating it to NTFS and than deleating all the partittions on it again it leave me with clean GPT disk which was previously formated on NTFS with no partittons on it and after creating the GPT UEFI suported bootable win 10 flash again in rufus i was finaly able to see the disk during win instalation and i was able to instal the windows on it withou any problem. So the problem that disk wasnt show was efi shell partiton in combination with MBR disk and exfat format. My regard is to make 2 bootable usb drives 1st efi mbr drive and 2nd efi gpt drive to see which format your drive is before you need to take it out. Also if you want to have all 3 OS win, linux ( maybe for ubumtu or novel use) and apple OS (noone fucking care how its named) remember to first intal win on NTFS ( GPT) format than split the drive and make the rest exfat. After tha you will be able to instal the rest of the OS without any problems on acer nitro 5 previously LInux preinstaled. Hope it will help someone in future to shorter his strugling instaling win on this device. :) Thanks for your time :)
