This ia a fantastic LP. Really classy and sensitive playing. Thank you for posting. I have a collection of about 100 old Hammond records, but have never heard this one.
There is nothing like that True Hammond Sound coming from an A100! It is The Best! The organist has Supreme Talent, with an Excellent Touch!
Not heard of Pete Colley before,
But a great compilation of memories, thank you for the play list!
What we hear and see here is a Hammond Model H series organ, the famous Klaus Wunderlich machine. Sorry for correcting @dennishutson823!
The A100 is also my personal favourite. But this instrument, recorded here, has some characteristics in its sound (very sharp percussion and high frequencies) that really fascinate me. It is a beautiful organ. 😋
These h-100 organs had a unique sound. Mostly due to changes in the drawbar foldback being higher up on the top three drawbars. But also due to the additional two mixture drawbars on the top manual and one mixture drawbar on the bottom manual. I don’t recall the pitches these added but each mixture drawbar controlled two pitches each.
Some have described the tone as having a ‘cheesy’ sound. I agree but I love the cheesy sound.
the H.......😒 ugh. a universally hated model - and with good reason. they sound terrible and have terrible build quality. the electronics were crap and usually you find them with half the keys broken off (and the other half about to break.) people who have these literally can't give them away.
