i like this design a lot! this makes me think of an underwater enclosed ebike with ability to peddle as well. maybe enclosed but can also be designed where we still utilize underwater breathing gear, but gives us the ability to move around underwater, and peddle as well. when i see this great design in this video, i am inspired to see so many new ways to move both on top of the water, as in the video, and beneath the water as well. one of the most important things to remember is, when someone tells you its been done before, that is evidence that people like it. keep going! keep making new designs! great work!
I try both, XE-1 before, and the new SL3+ model today in Mallorca, Spain. It's incredible, no words, just need to try it ! Thanks to Manta5 and Salty Cycling team ! Hope to see the SL3 manta5 soon for renting in Mallorca !
The advancements in Hydrofiler bikes are progressing well and it is going to be a gamechanger for travelling on placid lakes, large ponds and rivers with minimal turbulence. 😊😊👌👌👍👍
@@notanymore9471 congrats you know some chemistry but it doesn't change anything that I've said. Lithium ion batteries have already been implemented in marine environments.
Now that they have solved the problem of how to launch from the water when you capsize or get too tired this will have much more appeal. Hopefully it is not too outrageously priced.
This will be great fun. When aerodynamics are considered, a recumbent position will be much more efficient on the water where wind is a huge factor. It is not uncommon to have steady 15 mph wind on a lake and a recumbent rider would have much less air drag into the wind.
Moment of inertia is reduced in recumbent position, leading to a shorter pendulum movement for roll. This gives shorter reaction time for the rider to make roll corrections while flying (google roll for aircraft movements). These types of hydrofoil craft require the rider to correct roll using the steering and their body, like a normal bycicle. Also, in standard position, gravity helps the legs while pushing down, in recumbent position you will get tired sooner. These 2 issues make for a less comfortable ride.
@glennmiley75 Good observation, I think that would call for a pretty radical design change, could also be an additional model perhaps. shrugs. I like the stand up feature, but they should have a means to lock out the pedals so both share a horizontal plane, 'locked'. Better yet would be an option to replace them with dirt bike styled foot pegs.
Body is slimmer than a jet ski, but those (barely seen) underwater fins take up some space. Not sure how much the pedals get used, it seems to rise out of the water with zero pedal action.
Yep sorry great bit of kit a bit like the electric foil sup board but at the price at the moment no chance both very expensive when China starts pumping them out by the millions in a few years and the price drops significantly then maybe
Reducing frontal area is the most important factor in cycling efficiency, more important than weight reduction. Fully faired recumbent bikes are the fastest human powered vehicles. Why not see a version of this hydrofoiler built as a recumbent then weigh the pros and cons?
I get why you put a motor in it. I really do get it. The Market is weak, middle-aged folks with money who barely want to pedal. You show that in the video. But can you please make an analog bike with no motor for athletes?
Thanks your comment! the bike is a perfect choice for athletes too, as they can reduce the level of electric assist and make it almost manual, requiring high power
Nope. After reading the comments and DYOR on the price of these things, I rationalized it is even less useful than an electric unicycle. One of those things that looks cool to try but not able to replace similar popular machines for the price/use. Well done anyway, Manta. Good luck.
This is the kind of product you see 30 years from now and wonder how they got away with making it before all the lawsuits and deaths tankes production. Like the old honda 3 wheelers from the 70s. Happy sailing. Its black too so no boater will ever see you.
Finally the water bike! Now boats have something to run over! LOL
Seeing the blades/foils I was thinking more of the effect on swimmers and surfers, but you do have a point ...

I'm already thinking these can be part of some ball and net game like actual water POLO
As long as they stay in their own lane I’m ok with it

i will wait until i can ride from land and just go right into water without getting wet. now thats an idea
Getting wet is part of the fun! Our bikes replicate the real cycling experience, which wouldn't be so great with a hull or floaters.
He ment wheels on the bottom so go right from land to hydrofoil on water. I suppose you'd still get wet, but would still be fun.

$9k without a battery. $2k for each battery. $600 for battery carrying case (necessary for air travel).
