On Xanny, she said she wanted to create the feeling of being suffocated by "second hand smoke" through the oppressive production.
Exactly! She said the chorus is intended to recreate how it actually feels when you're breathing through a cloud of secon dhand smoke and the way the smoke entering your throat and lungs, hence the reason why it's uncomfortable to listen to. And in contrast, the rest of the song feels light and dream, because its supposed to be imitating the way smoke looks - like a giant white curtain as she said.

Ana E. I lost both my grandpas to smoking. Lung & throat cancer and COPD/emphysema. An instant would have been better for my grandpa who spent all night screaming the minute he didn’t have enough morphine to numb the pain before he died. But sure ok.

you should listen to 'my boy' which is an interesting song due to the fact that she creates an image of a person through things they do. also, 'I love you', which is a song that she had said she can't believe they wrote (its a beautiful song). if you want to see more of her personality you should watch 'a snippet into billie's mind' (there are two videos- one for 'bury a friend' and one for 'xanny'). another great interview would be the one year apart video by vanity fair which shows how much she changed in a year and was forced to grow up and mature faster in a way because of her being in the industry etc. she also has a short documentary by up next.

In an interview she said that xanny is her favourite on the album and during the recording of it, she was in tears for the last few lines. Also, copy cap was about a girl who did everything like her and it was just annoying. That is also why she wrote I don't wanna be you anymore... To show that people want to be like her but she doesn't even want to be herself. Yes, she was actually a competitive dancer and sustained several injuries and couldn't dance anymore. So she turned to music.

she always was singing and everything, i think that’s important to know. otherwise it seems like it was just an “option” for her what kinda puts a shadow on it.
I like her music, her voice is beautiful and she is really original. Kinda feel that Finneas is not getting so much credit but looks like he is also a powerful force behind all this. And she is really unique and seems to have a great head on her shoulders so that's a really good thing. I kinda worry for the future, she's so young growing up with a success like this so fast and crazy is always hard. Let's hope all this doesn't affect her. I really hope she will be ok because the artistry she is showing ate this age is amazing. (I always like Zane Lowe's interviews he did one with her and her brother recently, check it out)
I hope Finneas gets more love moving forward! As for Billie, I like to think that since she's able to be so expressive, she'll stay on her own path as oppose to needing to rebel against a former Disney project/persona. Thank you so much for watching!

Mmina Maclang the last couple lines of Xanny were recorded the day of or after X died. So she was trying to deal with sooo much. And it’s just raw emotion.

It was interesting to hear her speak about her thought process on writing Xanny. Someone else already spoke about the production. But the lyrics and inspiration in general came from an experience where she was around friends that were drunk & high. She hated that the substances took away their initiative and personality. They went from being the people she knew and loved, to these lazy blobs basically which I can def relate too. It does make you want to stay far, far away from the stuff. You never want that to be you.

Xanny song meaning: Billie has a group of friends she has been with for a very long time but for a while now they have been doing drugs and drinking a lot, every time they go out everyone’s stoned or drunk and they always try to include her but she refuses. Billie ends up feeling left out but she does not want to be drunk or stoned just in case of a accident because I heard that she lost a friend due to drugs. This is a definition she explained in a interview.

When I first heard about her and how much she was blowing up I refused to get on the bandwagon...yay another cutesy pop artist. Nope!! I was so surprised and shooketh!! I adore her and she’s so funny and down to earth in her interviews. I’m always excited to see new songs/videos from her because I never know what it will be about or how it’ll sound. You can’t fit her into a genre. She’s just Billie. Truly gifted as well as her brother Finneas. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed reacting to her.

Listen before I go made me burst into sobs within just that first verse. I cried all the way through it, playing it on repeat all night. It's so impactful.. every song they come out with makes you feel so strongly. Like the helplessness you can hear in her voice and the waivering at the end is so powerful. I didn't even realize the emotions I had bottled up and it felt so good to just feel understood.

I’m 23 catch me crying in the mosh pit to a 17 year old in just over a week. Her songs have hit hard in these last 2 months after a breakup and I blamed my mental health on why he didn’t want me anymore and I kept apologising and asking him why and how I can change but in reality I needed to get rid of him he was emotionally abusive and I was blinded by “love” I got the whole promise ring and all. I’ve been happier since we ended things and I know that it wasn’t my mental health. He said he couldn’t trust me around his phone after over a year of being together he said you haven’t gotten over your anxiety in the last year I have my things that time will take.
No he just made me feel crazy while he tried getting onto other girls and now he wants to be the whole friends with benefits bullshit because all the females he was talking to didn’t actually like him so he wants back in but he annoys me now so I feel like I’m not In Love with him anymore I still stupidly have some love for him and hope he’s okay. She has been a saviour honestly and seeing you get as choked up as I do when listening to her music I was like damn I’m not the only one.
