I enjoy your videos as a fairly new visitor/subscriber - have a marvelous weekend and thanks for rehab for the horses you choose!Really fortunate beauties you see in them💕🐴👏👏
@@JLC87420 I can't believe how much they charged her. My friend has a really good equine dentist visit her horse here in the Uk and it's only £95.00 for one horse that includes the visit, exam, sedation, rasping and balancing. Usually she gets together with other owners on the yard so it's reduced to £75.00 each for 4 horses. When he had a tooth out it was £40.00 on top so not bad. For what this horse had done, it would be around $94.00 but because she travelled there it would be cheaper again. Nobody here would pay £800.00 for a rasp.
@@catherine8770She said this vet visit when it was said and done cost around 1k. So I took that to mean the vet visit. I was a bit surprised, but everything costs more now.
He's lovely! That gorgeous Arabian head!😍💕 When he got in the trailer he probably thought, "Well this place was nice. Wish I could stay!" I bet he was so happy to go back HOME, with his groupie to greet him! Nigel - spunky little devil!😄
I did not think of that...how sad😢 I was listening so will go back and watch him. CC provides so well for her horses that he'll soon feel home in his heart. Meanwhile my heart needs a little time to feel better.
@@Auntie-Sara It's sad. Poor animals have no choice in where they end up. A dog I adopted had been on the street, to the pound, then to a rescue, then to two different foster homes, and then I got her. The first time I tried to take her out in the car, she didn't want to get in. She thought she was being shipped off again. As soon as she knew she would always come home, she LOVED going in the car! Maybe it was the same for this guy, with the whinnying, after all he'd been through. He couldn't be in a better place!❤
I am so glad you got this boy. As a lover of the Arabian breed I really hate seeing them at auctions. So many get a bad rap. Arabians pick their people. Show them softness and security and they will blossom. I know you "picked" him...but just seeing him responding to you, he has also chosen you. He's going to surprise you at how easy he will be to tune up and how loyal he will be to you. I really look forward to seeing his transformation and the bond develop between the two of you.. Stay safe and hope you ankle is feeling much better.
My heart goes out to that poor mare. Unrequited love is so unfair. Sigh. 😪 Putting Skeltor with her sounds like a great idea. That little Nigel is a spry old man. Just look at him trot!! Loved seeing Huckleberry looking so happy to ride shotgun. 🥰

I work as a small animal veterinary technician and it is the same for cats and dogs: as animals age, dental care is the most important thing you can do to maintain their health. I am so happy to see that the new horse's dental went well. I found that part particularly interesting because rabbit teeth are the same way. Their incisors in particular will grow into their jaw if they don't line up properly. I am fascinated that horses teeth are the same way! Your new horse is one lucky guy. I can't wait to find out what you've decided to name him! 💖
Same for rodents. One of my wild squirrels was presenting with an issue I couldn't identify. I saw it infrequently though. At dusk one day it came begging. It was having trouble eating but I couldn't pinpoint a source. It actually jumped on my shoulder and sniffed by my ear. Only my very bravest squirrels do that, and I didn't know this one like that. It went to bed in one of my squirrel houses and died that night. I examined it and found that an incisor had grown down into the lower jaw. Such a horrible way to go, and it likely died as much from malnutrition and parasite load (it was full of squirrel fleas).
We took over the care of my sister’s old dog and she told me that he wasn’t really bothered with eating, just taking tiny bites at a time. I took him to the vet for a check up and she found FIVE rotten teeth that must have been very painful. When they were out he started eating with such enjoyment!
The thing is that not only horse's need their teeth done but also your dogs and cats. People just don't think about it but dental cleaning is very important for all around health!!
I know from experience at least dogs don’t always need dental if they don’t have a major tartar buildup, and what I’ve learned is that proper diet with regular teeth brushing will prevent that. Also, dentals with dogs should be avoided if possible because they have to be fully put under and that is never ideal.
My mare gets her teeth floated every other year. Our vet just did them a couple of weeks ago. He said she’s getting “old lady teeth” (she’ll be 22 in about three weeks), so we’ll have to keep a closer eye on them now.
I think the fuss the new guy made when he was first put in the trailer might have been because he thought he was being moved somewhere else again. "Argh, I've just settled in here, I'm getting to know everyone and now I'm going to end up in another unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people and animals." I'm glad he's got a good home with you for a long while and that I know you'll find him a good home when/if he moves on.
Productive vet visit! I'm glad the new guy is doing so well! After only 9 days with you, his appearance and health look greatly improved. Side note: Nigel is a fabulous moving pony. Love his spunk! ❤
Hey, great idea for Skeletor and that mare, (can you find out her name) she has someone to bat her eyelashes at, and he has company. Glad new horse is ok and he didn't need any teeth pulled. Can't wait for next video to hear what new guys name is! Hug Tiny for me!
I love what you do and how you do it. it's great that you caught this guy's dental issue in time to avoid pain, even more expensive dental work, and/or related health problems. It's good to let folks know what all of this costs. Anyone who is thinking of getting a horse will be much better able to decide if that's affordable, thus avoiding mistakes that would hurt both the horse and the new owner.
Obviously I can't watch the video until it premiers, but I can see from that big still image splashed on my screen that that is one very sharp, pointy tooth. Imagine having that in your own mouth! I've bitten my own cheeks often enough to know that wouldn't be fun, and my teeth aren't pointy and sharp!
True! Dental for all animals Is a “newer” thing. And, important!! Nobody was aware when I was a youngster. I don’t think I can watch this until tonight wahhhhh Lol
Hes a placid guy smart friendly. Nothing seems to phase him really. I think the mare wanted back in the corral with him. Glad the vet visit went well 😼
That was awesome, good thing he didn't need any teeth pulled. My youngest daughter just paid $1,100 for our 15-year-old cat to get some dental surgery so yeah vet costs are not cheap, but they can be lifesaving. And Nigel is just such a spry little dude :) Love him.
So pleased he didnt need any teeth taking out, he must feel more comfortable with the sharp edges filled. Im looking forward to seeing what you will name him.
Good dental care and keeping on schedule with shots, etc. will maintain good health and make life so much better for all concerned. Prevention is so much cheaper than treatment of problems. I can’t wait to see how things progress with the new guy. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I can't remember how old you said the new horse is? Can anyone help me ? I roared with laughter when you showed Huckleberry sitting in the passenger seat of the truck looking as if he was being chauffeured by you. 🤣 I am so-o-o-o happy that the new guy is getting his teeth fixed. He will be so much more himself when he is not in pain. I think he is a great little guy. Thank you for another wonderful and informative video. : ) P.S., I loved the pics of the horse's teeth.
I think that’s a good idea about skeletor and the mare in your quarantine pen. It’s also nice back there with the trees and the brook. Pretty spot to chill out for the summer.
I agree with how important dental check ups are… I take my cat in once a year, for non-anesthetic dentals… most of the time…and took her in for her annual dental check up and cleaning and found out she had feline teeth resorption with two teeth so they had to be extracted…I had just had her in for a cleaning a year ago so I’m glad that I didn’t let it go longer than a year. It’s very painful for animals when they have teeth issues and you’re absolutely right it can cause aggressive behavior. The gray horse will be feeling even better with the tooth issue resolved for the most part after this first visit and even better after the next dental visit….Im sure he sure appreciates all the care that you’re giving him. ❤️
Yes!! WE ALL KNOW THAT FEELING OF GOING TO THE DENTIST!! But everything will work out for the best!! Thank God you had hs teeth checked just in the nick of time!! You Clever Cowgirl!!
I don’t know how you do anything else! Those horses are a full-time job not just for one person but more like two or three. So enjoyable to learn about these beautiful creatures. You are a wonderful human. ❤
So great the new guy got his teeth floated and that he was such a good boy. If he and Skelly don't work out together, which I think they might, I'm sure Skeletor would love that round pen in the trees. It looks like such a calm, serene place with the stream flowing by. I loved seeing Nigel trotting around so cute, evading you. Frustrating for you but fun for us to watch. 😂 I'm looking forward to the next video when the new kid on the block's name is revealed. He does look a ton better already. Thank you for rescuing him. ❤🦄💙
He looked so happy to be back home! He's going to start trusting you and loving you more and more as he realizes this is his home. Thank you Clever Cowgirl for your loving kindness to all your animals. All your videos warm my heart and make me feel at home. ♥️🏡🐎😊
Little spunky Nigel cracks me up he sure does have nice little pep !!his step new little guy is coming along very well. You do such a great job. I look forward to seeing your videos pop up on my newsfeed.❤
I suppose that, in the US, the veterinary prices are inflated just as are medical prices, as compared to other parts of the 'western world' such as Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I recently paid £120 for both my retired old boys and an extra £35 for sedation for one of them (they live on my own land, up in the hills some way away from my current home) and a friend who keeps her own ponies there takes care of them wrt feed etc for me, but their vet and farrier bills come to me. There was also a (very small, only token really) extra charge for 'travel' as the vet came to them when she was on her way back from another client nearby, so not a specially-scheduled visit or off her direct route. Neither of the boys really object to the dentist - one of them quite likes it and will just stand and dribble contentedly while being examined and treated, no sedation needed at all as long as it's only minor treatment. If he did need lengthy treatment, though, he'd get sedation just to make it easier on everyone. The other isn't quite so laid back about it; he'll tolerate an examination without sedation, but that's it. As he's had a few problems in the past, the vet likes to have him sedated now he's elderly, so as not to risk missing anything small that might arise and so be able to deal with it straight away.
CC said in a reply above that the dental itself was only $225 of that 1000. The rest was all the other New Horse Stuff, like standard bloodwork, a pricy extra vitamin E test that has to get sent out, and a batch of the Adequan injections (for joint function, I believe) that she wants to try with him. So maybe not that far off from your price?
@@Alluvial. OK, thanks, I must've missed that. Will check out current prices for those things here. $225 still seems somewhat expensive for a single horse's dental work, but _much_ more reasonable/acceptable/comparable to what I'd've expected.
Thank you for showing and explaining the dental work and its importance. I always enjoy your use of language and ‘saucy’ is another one that I left with a smile. ☘
He's looking great. Getting that tooth ground will certainly help. I bet he really comes out of his shell now. As a former guest ranch horse, he's likely seen bridges on trail rides.
Really been excited for updates on this Silver Gentleman. I do hope he likes Skeletor. He was on a dude ranch so he was more used to hanging out with other geldings so it could be just the ticket.
Thanks for another entertaining and enlightening video. The new horse seems like he will be a winner whether he becomes Skeletor's buddy or not. Love the cameos of Huckleberry, Nigel, and Tiny--love these characters!!
I was wondering how the previous owners called this horse, if he had a name before. Nigel seems to be in charge as always, energetic lil turd i love how he runs and quickly turns to get his mane out of the way.
It is so nice to hear you say he is such a a chill, relaxed and easy going guy. And he's an Arabian, I love the breed and find them very athletic not for short distance racing but very capable of almost anything else. A lot of people will tell you that the Arabian is flighty and nervous, I think it has a lot to do with training or lack there of and sugar intake and the people. Thanks again, God bless
I love how you care for your horses, CC. Thank you for sharing this well recorded and explained video on floating teeth. I appreciate how hard it is to get pics inside their mouths. You did a great job! Bravo to you!
Wow, what a whacking vet bill. Glad the new horse got his dental out of the way. Hope he is feeling much better. Nigel rocks, he's moving like a young horse😂❤❤❤
Glad your vet doesn't mind letting you film. That tooth was amazingly scary. He almost looks like a carnivore instead of an herbivore. This is the first time I've ever been able to see up close explicit details of horsey teeth. Thanks for that. When I had my horse's teeth floated, I didn't get to see this kind of stuff so I appreciate it very much. Thanks. Hope your ankle is coming along.
Wow $1000! I never would have thought it would be that much. Though l have never owned a horse. He is beautiful. I hope he works out for Skeletor. At least you have a secondary plan for Skeley. Can't wait to hear Earl Grey's new name. I wonder why the other side of his jaw looked swollen. Looking forward to your next video!
That is for eveything! He got a dental with sedation, A CBC/Chem panel, Blood was sent out for a vit E test ( He didn't need it but I was curious, after overnight shipping it was around $300! I don't know if I was that curious but it is worth checking this time, the adequan was also a couple hundred dollars. If he had just had a basic dental with nothing else it would've been around $225
How fortunate is the horse who gets dental care . There really are some horrible problems that can quietly occur in the mouths of uncared for animals aren’t there.
I laughed and said “twit!” to myself when you said you’d reveal his name in the next video. 😂 Great content as always. ❤ Really loved seeing what a “normal” horse mouth looks like; it definitely helped make more sense out of the new horse’s mouth.
He looked so cute when he was half-asleep! ❤ I think I heard Nigel go "nyah, nyah, nyah" when he was running circles around you - he really is one cute stinker! 😂 Your animals are all so lucky that they are staying with you! It is so sad to hear about that poor horse that was euthanized as being "aggressive" when it just was being neglected and had such horrible tooth problems - that is so unfair! 😔
$1000 well spent on the health and happiness for your horse! He's very lucky to have landed safely with you! ❤️ I will continue to watch your channel in hopes it supports your endeavors, plus I really enjoy your content! ❤🐴🐎🏇🧲
I was hoping to see this dental coverage in the last video so for me this one is a bit of a tease. Looking forward to what the vet found in the physical and dental and hope that the new horse gets relief of any discomfort to eat with ease. I am enjoying this channel more and more as it is presented well and the viewer is given a detailed explanation of the horses character, their needs to advance and the willingness in care to pivot if warranted.

P.S., I loved the pics of the horse's teeth.

So cute! 😊
😁
I think that’s a good idea about skeletor and the mare in your quarantine pen. It’s also nice back there with the trees and the brook. Pretty spot to chill out for the summer.
Great video, great vet visit, can’t wait for the name reveal! “You’re killin’ me, Nigel!” Hahaha!!!!
Nigel is attitude! he's so cute
I’m so happy that SPIRT had a good visit to the vet.
Nigel moves better than I do
I suppose that, in the US, the veterinary prices are inflated just as are medical prices, as compared to other parts of the 'western world' such as Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Tiny is a hoot 😉 you are a great horse mom!
what a fantastic find he is a real gem
I am in love with this guy!!
Look at Nigel go so wonderful to see him moving like that. Wonderful clever cowgirl. Bravo

Interesting to lean about the tooth.
Learn so much from you CC. I've never been on a horse, but now I want one in my backyard. God blissings
Was some bad weather in Montana yesterday around Boseman. I-90 was closed.
My daughters first horse was a Grey Arab like him ,brings back great memories. Have fun with him
Really been excited for updates on this Silver Gentleman.
I love learning from equine RUclipsrs about the importance of appropriate feed!
Nigel is doing what's Shetland s do😅
Nigel is cute and silly boy 😊
Clever, you are such a horse name tease! 😂😂😂
I wish all people understood the expense of owning any animal before bringing them home.
@@terrifiorelli9819So true!
Yeah, I wondered what made it swell on the other side?
How fortunate is the horse who gets dental care . There really are some horrible problems that can quietly occur in the mouths of uncared for animals aren’t there.
Thanks I knew 0 about horses teeth.
Thank you for the generous and conscientious care that you take over your horses.
I think I heard Nigel go "nyah, nyah, nyah" when he was running circles around you - he really is one cute stinker! 😂
Your animals are all so lucky that they are staying with you! It is so sad to hear about that poor horse that was euthanized as being "aggressive" when it just was being neglected and had such horrible tooth problems - that is so unfair! 😔
It's so sad that there are people who are so ignorant as to euthanize a horse because they don't know anything about its teeth.
Thank you so much! I feel like I may finally be getting the hang of it!

I always love seeing Huckleberry taking his co-pilot position seriously.
He looks like a fine ride.
Your silver star looked very happy to be back to his new home after your adventure! I do wonder what they must think when they are loaded onto a trailer...
