Welcome back to another Liveration video!
In this episode we interview Oli, who lives in a self built tinyhouse, off grid, in the Dorset countryside with his dog, Tala.
After years of traveling and returning to the UK, Oli begrudged paying the extortionate prices of rent and bills to stay in a fixed place and adopt the fast pace materialistic lifestyle that seems to naturally come with that.
So.... he built himself a stunning off grid TinyHome to dive into a simpler, slower pace of life, where minimalism and simplicity comes naturally.
We get a full tour of the land that Oli's trailer tiny home sits on, as well the outside and inside of this cozy home he has built for himself, it really is something to admire, the attention to detail that Oli has put into this build really makes it an inviting space of handcrafted beauty!
So DEFINITELY stick around for the inside tour!!
Thanks to Oli for sharing his story with us and showing us around his home!

This young man is blessed and it's obvious from his comments that he works the land to help his mum out. Besides, it will be his inheritance one day. Lovely his mum is seeing him enjoy her gift. She is also seeing her son live independently. I hope she is proud of him. Also, it is clear he doesn't take any of this for granted. I'd be proud of him and I am happy for him. In today's world it is much harder for the young ones to have homes of their own. I wish them both all the best.
That is exactly how I want to live. Especially with the cost of everything here in the Uk! Are there any tiny home groups? What a great lad and I share his ethos about having things to keep and hate this disposable society we are in. My car is 20yo and I keep it going. I collect CDs and DVDs for the same reason!. I hate the TV these days and I certainly don’t think he is a luddite at all. He has actually removed him from the utter material chaos that we seem to have to conform to.
I couldn't agree more, Richie. I could have written that exact same comment. And I'm guessing we have the same name too 😊
This young fellow is a thinker and a good example to other young ones. His ideology is solid
Oli said that society is not ok with this new style of living since it’s not contributing -I’m assuming he meant taxes and consumerist behaviour that keeps the wheels of economy spinning. Well I’m afraid that people with common sense understand that less pressure on the housing market preserves more valuable land and disperses populations across larger areas which benefits society and economies immeasurably . Also people like himself preserve the lands they live on and help the soils recover and be more productive. Such practices in pockets of agricultural land may influence neighbouring land owners and farmers to reduce use of chemicals. Well done Oli keep up the good work!
Well said!!!👍👍
Very smart idea. Tiny villages. Don't need 2500 square foot houses to live. Good for you.
I like the dude style of living simple carefree surrounded by the serenity of the vicinity after all why burdening oneself when life is just for a short span of time.
Love from Sabah Borneo❤
Very impressive. Not just his amazing simplistic home, but his take on life and lifestyle. We could all learn from this chap. Somehow the way he frames it all, just makes sense. It makes me question my own life goals and what I want from life. Love people like this who aren't afraid to confirm. Well done to him. As per below, inspirational. ❤
Oli is living how many many thousands wpuld like to live, a simple, almost stress free life.
Good on him, well thought out 😊
Hiya guys.
That was really interesting and really enjoyable watching. Still don't know how you manage to source these people 😂.
Loved his home and his simplified way of life which suits him.
Ive just left his neck of the woods 😀 it's a beautiful part of the country.
See yous soon 🙏🏻💚💚
Thank you for sharing your home, and giving me inspiration.🤗
Your watersystem is the future... love the lifestyle.. i live in tiny recyceld house in Holland.. half of grid...love to live simpel...love your vid🎉
Love the video and what he is doing 😊
Wow just Wow! That was wicked!! If I had some land or found some land I could afford I would be asking Oli round straight away! 😀 you have done some awesome videos but I think this is my favourite so far. All the best ….Smithy
Simple beautiful home. I also chose not to have TV for about 15 years now.
Fair play buddy. That is the way i want to end up living my life. Vanlife comes first then hopefully a tiny home somewhere scenic. Preferably not in the UK any longer 😊
A life of simplicity is a life of happiness and fulfilment 😎
Go OLI Go!!! Happy for you. 🙏❤🙂
A really cool house. Love the style and layout. Also a very cool philosophy about life too.
I, I, I.
Yet again, the question we want to know.....How have you managed to live there full time?
Hundreds of us wanting to do this and you know damn well, its virtually impossible, even if we can afford land.
Not all of us want to live in with other people ( communities) either.
You are dead right there. My son, a carpenter has lovingly transformed a removal van into a really cool tiny home but is being hounded by the Council despite having permission of the landowner to live there. You can't just buy a bit of land and bung a caravan etc on it to live in, not allowed. Perhaps some councils are more relaxed but certainly not ours. (Lincolnshire where there's plenty of land.)
@patkilmurray4702 it's so sad. I don't believe there are any councils who are lenient now.
This situation is not going to improve in the future, for anyone who wants to do it, especially solo.
Bank of mummy and daddy and what else?
I've looked into this a long time, as have many others.
Judging by the way he's positioned the house he's trying to be sneaky and hide away between trees for the 5 year rule (or is it 10 years now?). I enjoy these videos as a source of inspiration of what I want to do in life, but the sad reality of it is that it's not cheap and damn near impossible to do without playing this hideaway game or trying to become a farmer...
This is probably the best video I've seen his place is really nice
Great set up and nice guy. We are living in our motorhome as camp site wardens so really understand the attraction. Simple way of life meeting some great people on the campsite. Stressed this morning having to unblock the shower block! More people need to opt out of the mainstream and live a more content life
Inspirational stuff ❤❤❤
What a beautiful house and I'd love to be able to live this life ,just need the plot to site it on that's the problem in the uk
Fabulous - Thank You for the Video - quite a wonderful conversation and great vision, plus an honest outlook on how out of tune our world has become on how life could be enhanced, 👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
I could agree with everything he was saying...up to the 'crusties' statement!!!
After finding my phone again i watched the rest of it (LOL).
Nice setup, nice dog...yeah, i could live that way 😉
Nice house..but that dog is so beautiful!!!
Such a wonderful concept, way of life. I just love you did it, congratulations.. is truly fantastic that you broke away from the money pit most people are in. And stuff we have too much of.
Thanks for sharing..
Aggree entirely - but not just young people - I have lived tiny overseas for years whilst travelling and now back in the UK find it scary how much of my earnings here is poured into someone elses coffers. I am a teacher and can in no way afford to buy my own house now. This is the only wat I can ever see me being able to live in a responsible and personally sustainable way . Well done for managing to do this here(UK) , whilst being so young!
Well done Oli… a great watch and a life well thought through so far… where do you surf these days? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video 👏
Stunning dog.
I really enjoyed this video and this gorgeous man.
Beautiful home and area. 😊❤
Great Living ... thats what we seek. No rent... , plenty of space, and simplicity. We are only here for a moment, a drop or water in an ocean of time. I live in my truck camper , on my land 4 years now, i wont ever go back. check my story... . Liveration to All🤙🤙👍👍Be blessed.
Wonderful video and guy. But what about planning permission? The right to live on land is not as easy as people may think, especially in the UK. Would welcome knowing what his situation is as regards this.
It's a beautiful way to live.. love your spot 👌
Amazing home 😊👍
Awesome love it all the best 🙏🏽 🌞 👍🏾
Thank you...I want this❤
He only has 12v power but a 240v socket in the kitchen?
Looks like a promotion for his campervan business
Doubt he actually lives off grid like some of us do 😂
Lovely build but if everything is 12v with no inverter, why are there 230v sockets and how does he play his records on his turntable !!
Cute cabin! But Tala is even cuter
Mum lives in a nice middle class house next door, washing done and meals on call. In south Dorset they are at least £500K a pop.
At least, he will know if his mum has an accident. It won’t be a problem, introducing his girlfriend, to his parents either 😊
Definitely the more stuff you have..the more its like a monkey on your back//this is perfect
Great video as usual, and inspiring content! With the economy as it is, I can see more young folk doing this, either with permission of the landowner or as part of a syndicate buying a parcel of land. It's either that, or sleeping on the streets. I thought that as it's on wheels, it's a temporary structure and allowed on private land? Could be wrong?
Im intrigued to know where he built the trailer
Long may you Rock.. doing a great thing..bottle it and make a fortune..to pass on..Great..
Love love love this ❤❤❤
Are there any links to groups or Oli’s company, especially of they are considering building tiny homes.
Links in the description 👌👌
One man and his dog.....Swedish editiion.
How far to the launderette?
Mother investing in land.Which her son is and will be benefiting from.A investment in his welfare and happiness. What mother wouldn't want this for her child .
Did he get planning permission?
He'd have to otherwise it's not allowed.
You can't get planning permission to do this it's agricultural land and he's probably not supposed to be there but good luck to him
@@patkilmurray4702 Good point, because no one ever does anything they aren't allowed
@@mrvoorhees2627 If there was an old agricultural building there he could. The land might not be agricultural any more either
If you lived in Ireland, you wouldn't be allowed to do this, even though it is your own land. Currently there is a man facing prison, for doing this, his structure is even nicer than that.
too rustic for me !!!!!!!!!!!! need plumbing, running water,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Step 1. Find mummys land.
First
Living on Mummy’s land. Claims he is living rent free etc etc no rent. Embarrassing
At least he was honest about it and saying this is not typical of those living off grid
dodds, I've no idea what your problem is...jealousy maybe !
He's living how many would like to.
Definitely a touch of the green eyed monster.
Jealous much?
He said his Mum was in her 70s and the property was a lot to manage for her. Sounds like they both benefit from his proximity and abilities. Nothing wrong with that.
Had to stop watching , too many annoying ads
So your mummy bought you the land and a mate pretty much gave you the tailor.... silver spoon alert!!!!
Jealousy is an ugly trait. Do better mate.
@paulcollard6634 I've been living free for years mate... I've nothing to be jealous of... its just a comment on my observations..
