So, what about costumes/uniforms? Beyond the expense of washing the pieces yourself, do you have to pay for any parts of the 'costume'? Are these clothes other people have worn before you? What about the shoe issue? I've read that there are specific shoes for certain costumes. What do you know about that? Can't a cast member wear their own supportive sneakers?
You don’t have to pay for any aspect of your costume besides the shoes! They sell nonslip shoes for QSFB but everyone else needs to find their own shoes elsewhere (black and no logos). There’s so many stores nearby and Walmart has nice cheap ones. Also if you want your name tag to say your hometown instead of your college you have to pay $5 for a new one. And yes other people have worn the costumes before you, but they get washed very well. They never smell or anything at all
Also make sure you keep like 100-ish dollars for any emergencies. Especially if you have a car. I went to the hospital and needed to borrow money from my friends.
My son just started his DCP in July 2023. The program fee is now $491. The 1st check they took out an additional $65 fee! Parking decal is $180. A day pass to Universal Studios is now $205 but Florida residents can get a season pass fairly reasonable.
thats why i am happy im going in at 25. yes i like to go out and have fun and experience things but my bills will come first and essentials. im going to be in a long term air bnb for my program as well so i can get my full check which will help a little bit. budgeting is your friend haha
I just recently got accepted (I'm doing March 7th - October 6th, 2022) and my program and housing fee was $425 (this is the most recent as of at this moment).
Gosh I never realised how low the wage is in the US compared to Australia even with conversion rates I earnt more than a Disney worker at the age of 15. I still really hope to get in with the Disney cultural exchange program.
We love your channel!! Your videos are awesome and so helpful! We just started watching and have loved seeing your journey through the DCP. My girlfriend and I are wanting to do the cultural exchange program from Canada next summer so all of the tips and honesty is very useful! Thanks again and we’ll be watching your videos for sure 👍🏻
There are gas stations across the street from the closest publix to the complex that was WAY cheaper. At least when I was there last (Summer alumni 2017)
The gas station that she is talking about, assuming she is in Flamingo, has had a special price to trap people for years, it has nothing to do with Disney. It is on 192, their sign said last gat to I-4. They are closed now. The stations on Disney property are competitive with their pricing. Other stations are posted and competitive with nearby stations as they are everywhere.
Hey! I'm hoping to do the CRP soon, I just applied for it! I'm just wondering how much on average you would spend on groceries in Florida per week - I've never lived in the US and have never done actual grocery shopping in Florida before so don't have any idea how much things cost. I know it varies a lot for each person, but if you can remember, it would be very helpful for my budgeting so I can work out a rough cost (:
Thanks for this video! I was accepted for fall advantage 2020 and am trying to prepare and learn all the tips before I leave! The program fee was still $390 when I payed recently! I'm also trying to figure out things since I live in WA state and will be flying down... I still need to buy my airfare and want to do that asap but I don't know when to fly down and what people normally do. I don't want to spend a ton on hotel costs. Also, I'm still trying to figure out the whole timeline haha but is the week you get before you start working and get to start resort hopping and doing fun things with roomies when you are already in your housing and have done traditions and stuff already? Any and all advice would be appreciated!
So your check-in day is when you move into your housing and go to casting to get all of your paperwork in order. You should fly into Orlando the night before that and plan on staying in a hotel just for that night. There cheap ones in the area. The next 3ish days will be totally free, so spend that time getting to know your roomies and setting up your apartment (buying anything you need). That’s when you’ll be able to go to disney springs and resort hop. Once you have Traditions (usually a few days after you get there), you’ll get your Blue ID and can go to the parks and will start training right after that!!! Hope this helps :)
Hi!! I’m from wa and got accepted for fa too!!!! I’m flying down 2 days early but only because the day before my check in is Mother’s Day and I wanted to be able to take my mom to one of the parks as opposed to flying for HOURS on Mother’s Day Lol. There is a hotel right next to lake Buena vista that gives discounts to cps!
Info thank you for the video it was very insightful and I have been looking for information on general prices for months now so I am glad that I was able to find your channel and learn more about it.
coming from someone who goes to college in new york city, i was actually shocked by how CHEAP the fees and rent are lmfaooo. like that's not even half of what i have to pay in new york.. i would be living a life of luxury if i joined the dcp
I feel like a little kid again in 2012 watching Disney resort videos, I keep hearing about the college program but no one is talking about the money. Someone mentioned being self-termed because they weren’t given enough hours for pay flamingo rent..
Thank you so much for this video! One question that I still have is- approximately how much is actually deposited into your account after they take the rent out of your check???
@@riss_papa That's so crazy to me, coming from australia. working 30-40 hours a week i would be in the ball park of $500-$600. But i so want to do this program more for the experience and the memories than the money.
thirteen's lilac coat that’s basically what it comes down to for everyone! the memories really are worth it. I hope the video didn’t sound too negative in that way because I definitely don’t regret it!
I just got accepted but my fee is $435 :( if I didn't have a car payment or insurance to pay back home, I'd be able to afford it but its too expensive for me :( didn't realize monthly rent would be like $700-$900
WHAT?!? I don’t remember paying an entrance fee at all. I definitely didn’t pay first months rent before getting there cause I remember them telling us that they were going to schedule us enough hours to pay that first months rent. I was getting paid $6.50 an hour this was in 2007, i lived in Chatham
In my opinion when there are a lot of college program students it’s hard for locals that possibly want a job with Disney. For example I live here in Orlando and I’m just looking for part time. But right now there are a lot of College Program Students
This was so helpful! I am wondering if it makes more sense money wise to just start working at Disney when I am done with collage, instead of doing the Disney collage program first. What do you think?
unless you want to work for disney long term, I’d say start with the program and see how you like it! A lot of people get burnt out and realize they have other dreams after working for disney! that’s what happened with me but i’m so happy I had the experience :)
it’s also much easier to make friends during the DCP since you’re all living in the same housing. getting a job after college would mean you have to find your own apartment
Another thing no one talks about are the courses that are offered through Disney. Are they normal college classes or I have seen the like course schedule that has tours you can take but no one ever is like I am going to a specific class or anything. Can you please do a video on this if you know how this works or know someone that did this? Pleased
Nicole Biggs So they actually don’t have courses for college credit anymore (to my knowledge). They just have seminars to help you with networking or if you’re interested in the history of Disney. I didn’t participate in these so I sadly don’t know too much about it
Wait...what do you meant “get what Do you need for an apartment”? Do they not give you anything? When I was there they gave us all the pots and pans and appliances and silverware and bowls and plates pretty much everything cups the only thing they didn’t give us was a TV that was in everything else we had
I live in Oregon and I won’t be able to bring my car to Disneyland or World...How does the use of public transportation affect the pay check? When I do the DCP will I have a percent of my paycheck automatically put toward the buses, or would I need to write it off every week?
I currently have around $1000 in bills every month that would still be expected of me while away. Im still confused on if I would be making enough after rent being taken out to cover those bills. Any help with that?
Absolutely not. Last I heard, the rent is between $175 and $230 per week, per person. That includes utilities and internet. Pay is $14/hour and assuming you work 50 hours a week (that’s what current attendees of the DCP say they work, if not 70 hours a week on the high side) you’d be making $700 per week which is $2100 a month. Rent per month would be around $700-$800 plus you need groceries, transportation fees etc. you won’t have $1000 left over after all your bills are paid while attending the program.
if i go with like less than $1000 ($400 at the least), do you think i’d make it (with budgeting of course) as i get each check? the thought of running out of money/not having enough stresses me out lol.
You get 3 for every 150 hrs that you work! You access them in your “my disney experience” account. They’ll automatically show up there once you complete your hours
I'm still waiting to hear if I will be accepted (I passed my WBI so now I gotta wait lol), but I'm from Indiana so Florida is a bit of a drive, is it worth it to still bring my car? I'm assuming that it's like all freeway and crazy city driving? Cause I hate that tbh lol
Near vista which is in Vineland their is sooooo many gas stations so you can totally avoid the shell by Patterson and chatem which boost gas prices. Before car decals were free geez times have changed. Also before you use to get a blue main gate card do they not do that anymore?
I applied for the disney internationl program i had the interview it seemd really fine we had a conversation lauged and he also asked about my favorite movies and stuff. But some of the other people in the interview group alredy got accapted but for july so hopefully i get it becuse it goes on until november and then work for a year pay is 13,25Hr i,m gussing you guys had schoom to thats why it took a month to get back 390$
ok weird question that doesn’t really pertain to money but i was thinking about it earlier. is everyone there like super disney crazy? i’ve watched so many yt dcp apartment tours and vlogs and when i apply (and hopefully get accepted) i was planning on making my room super disney and bringing a lot of disney merch. is that how everyone is? hopefully bc we are going to be there for months lol. i wanted to know if i would look like a crazy disney lover if i go full out. lol ty!!
Seems like a grift to me. What is Disney teaching that you can't learn anywhere else??? You can learn how to work in a kitchen, sell merchandise, or provide service literally anywhere in your college town. And you don't have to shell out 500 bucks to do it. Disney needs you guys much more than you need Disney.
Have you heard of people living outside of the Disney complexes to try to help with living costs? Would it be better (if you’re worried about money) to try to get a full time job there for 6ish months instead of doing the college program?
People definitely live outside of the complexes but that’s usually for personal reasons. The price will be the same or higher. I know a lot of people who want their significant others to stay in their apartment with them and disney complexes don’t allow anyone who isn’t in the program to sleep over. I still think the DCP will be a better option because it’s easier to secure than a full time job at Disney and you have a community of people with you. It’s also a short time commitment. If you complete the program, you’ll have a good chance of being considered for a part time or full time job at Disney after that
Well hopefully the people who go through with that would already had a job so they could save enough to go ahead and apply for the program lol. The moral of this video was save your money lol and that really is the key to a sustainable life lol do the 50% 30% 20% rule lol
Emma Doupe That’s definitely risky! When you buy your parking decal (2 weeks before the program) you need to know the car’s make and model and all those details in order to purchase it. So unless you know exactly what kind of car you’re getting, i’m not sure if that’s the best option!
do some people really not have the money when they get accepted? if you are applying for it start saving when you apply so if you get accepted you have the money and if you dont well now you have a savings started
My personal takeaway is the program tends to attract a lot of upper middle class students who are in college and parents pretty much cash flow school for them so they are used to viewing things like this more as a fun opportunity rather than an income source or an internship to learn things. It makes it more important to then make videos like this because learning about the money side is a great adult skill. On the flip the minority of non wealthy students need the reality of the financial hit who do need to actually care about ROI and income stream as they are less taken care of by older /more successful adults.
@@ZinkZoodles The DCP is a college internship. You're required to be in college to apply. You can take a semester off of school to do the program or take online courses with your college while you work.

never too early to start dreaming and planning about it!! 😘😘

In my opinion just try applying for Disney part time instead of doing a college program.
The dcp is my dream, I am a junior as well and what I really hope will happen is I will do the dcp and it can lead to working there full time!
just curious you don't want to just apply part time?
Thank you so much for being honest about money! Not many people are, so I really appreciate it!
I’m so happy to help!!
🚘 If you have a car you also get free PARKING at all of the parks and Disney Springs - just show your Blue ID 🚘
Disney springs parking is already free. For cast/PO and guests.
Yep! Some people might not know this, I didn’t!
I have worked there for a month and its so confusing still. So i dont doubt that people arent aware.

Everyone definitely loves disney, but on different levels! Do whatever makes you happy. If you want to decorate and go all out, that would be awesome!
Marissa Papapietro thank you for such a quick reply!!! you’re so helpful and not repetitive which i find some of the videos about the dcp are!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
do you get to keep your states health insurance and use it in florida
2022 it’s now $450 due at time of acceptance
What if you don’t take a car? Is there transportation to the parks and where you work?
yes, the bus!
Seems like a grift to me. What is Disney teaching that you can't learn anywhere else??? You can learn how to work in a kitchen, sell merchandise, or provide service literally anywhere in your college town. And you don't have to shell out 500 bucks to do it. Disney needs you guys much more than you need Disney.
everyone knows that! it is more abot the experience of working at disney, the parks, the “magic” etc
@@marimercado5978 I can respect that; to each his own....to me though, such an experience would dull the "magic"
Paid $425
If you complete the program, you’ll have a good chance of being considered for a part time or full time job at Disney after that
little update! the fees when we started is now 425.....:,)
Well hopefully the people who go through with that would already had a job so they could save enough to go ahead and apply for the program lol.
The moral of this video was save your money lol and that really is the key to a sustainable life lol do the 50% 30% 20% rule lol
My payment was $390 for my program and housing fee
So I am going down for my program next month. My plan was to buy a car when I get down there. Is that a bad idea? What if I can’t get a parking pass?
Emma Doupe That’s definitely risky! When you buy your parking decal (2 weeks before the program) you need to know the car’s make and model and all those details in order to purchase it. So unless you know exactly what kind of car you’re getting, i’m not sure if that’s the best option!
definitely email someone at DORMS and hopefully they can help you out :)
One of my questions is, When do your discounts start?
as soon as you get your BLUE ID at Traditions!!
Along with housing fees getting taken out...are taxes taken out as well?
Yes!
@@riss_papa how much % in taxes are taken out?
How Much Was Your Paycheck AFTER Rent Was Taken Out? How Much Was Left??
Comped tickets... how many per 150 hours?
3!
do some people really not have the money when they get accepted? if you are applying for it start saving when you apply so if you get accepted you have the money and if you dont well now you have a savings started
Around when does the spring 2021 application open?
I looked it up its around end of august!!
Im applying for it as well for lifeguarding hope you make it!!
Im applying to the dcp and my university's recruiter said first pay is $450.
I just did it too it was $450
Do you need to go to college close to the parks?
Nope!
Marissa Papapietro how would the DCP work then?
@@ZinkZoodles The DCP is a college internship. You're required to be in college to apply. You can take a semester off of school to do the program or take online courses with your college while you work.
I was just wondering if you can apply the following year if you've already been once
Yes as long as you’re still enrolled in a college or graduated in the last year! I’m pretty sure those are still the guidelines
Is Rent weekly or bi weekly, or monthly?
where can i find disney university mutual?
Are you allowed to have someone live with you?
what camera do you use?🤩
Sony a5100!
