I honestly think Connor is the most tragic sibling and lowkey the most traumatized. The neglected eldest son. He hides his pain through his delusions but in reality he fully understands what kind of a father truly Logan is unlike the younger 3 who still clings on to their father for tiny crumbs of attention
Now that the series is over it’s easy to forget this scene and think the other three siblings had it worse off. Especially when we later find out Logan and Connor did have a relationship that the sibs weren’t involved in. However Connor *knew* his father didn’t care for him and by accepting that he could have a more friendly relationship with his dad but do you really wanna be just friends with your own father?
@@DSQueenie I'm just friends with my father. There's not much love there, he knows it and I know it, when you are in a situation like that, you just got to accept it. Ordinarily this monologue would come across as melodramatic, but Connor is exactly the character to think up this phrase and wait for the right moment to use it.
This has to be one of the saddest pieces of dialogue I have actually heard… and his character in this moment becomes so clear. He spends 4 seasons being the butt of everyone’s jokes because he can be, because he just doesn’t care. He lived his entire life not being loved so none of it actually matters. He knows who he is to himself and to his family… probably the only person in his family to come to grips with his life and who he is and it sucks. That is conceptually so sad to hear out loud.
It matters but it's better being delusional, like the other 3 🤣🤣🤣. When you accept it, you can do your own thing and walk your own path. Of course the world is like a mindfield out there but the other 3 had it worse. At least Conner took a shot at life. The other 3 spent years by there fathers side for nothing.
This show is truly brilliant. Con has been the outcast because he’s seemingly the “weak” one. Coincidentally, that’s what makes him the strongest out of all the kids. They’ve all been chasing Logan’s approval - lying and backstabbing to do so - while Con doesn’t have to because never needed that love.
And say the second part that none of those children dare say: Logan likes Connor the most because he represents the least threat. Connor is the eldest boy, and in the end, he came out on top.
Also, Connor who grow up with no one as Logan ignored him and his mom put in an asylum survived with no love for a long time. And then he has a girlfriend / call girl who is in love with him on very odd way but still respects him. And he's the only sibling who has his own business which is his ranch and has to survive for a long time while his half siblings are acting so pretentious, spoiled and know it all and wants to backstab each other. Connor is honestly the only good Roy, he maybe an airhead (or Cone-head to be precise) but he never harm anybody.
@@NeverDauntedRadioNetwork fuck, you put it into words. that's what that odd feeling i had watching the footage of connor at dinner with logan during the wake was
Damn that was brutal and even more so upon rewatch. Con's completely alone at the rehearsal dinner until the siblings arrive. We learn he's never done karaoke like he's seen in all the films (seems out of touch but is sad in a different light). When Con tries to extend loyalty to Logan, he's rebuffed in favor of Roman and then ignored. Story of his life. I think Connor does want love, as I imagine Logan did at one point. Then they reached a certain age and for self preservation alone, both gave up in different ways. I hope Alan Ruck is recognized this season!
Biggest difference is though: between him and Logan Connor didn't let his lack of love turn him into a mean person. And in that regard he's a better man than his father.
It didn't come out of nowhere though. He always had it inside him. He just waited until the person he "loved" or trusted betrayed him. So he wanted to express his anger.
It's been almost 24 hours since I watched that episode, and I'm still gutted. That hit really hard. In the hands of a lesser actor, it would have come across as whiny or over-dramatic. But Alan Ruck nailed it.
connor is my favourite and the only one with a tender heart. the other kids are just as silly and just as entitled. no brighter. but they lack his sweetness.
Conor grew just tall enough to see over the fence and realise his place in the world, he probably had a small period where he was treated like a prince and then his mum went ill and his dad abandoned him, only to then live a life of privilege because he was Logan's regret and mistake. But never something to raise and care for.

This is Connors way of really opening up. As much as he mentions he doesn't need his dads love. He really makes it a point here that he wants his dads love. So bad.
As fucked up as Connor is he is absolutely the healthiest and strongest one of them all. He managed to choose a healthy partner and be in a somewhat healthy relationship, he doesn’t need his fathers love for validation, he recognizes his family’s toxicity and distances himself, he still has goals and hope for his future. In my eyes he’s the only one that broke the cycle because I always saw him being a great potential father.
I agree :) At least he took a shot at life. The other 3 is more screwed up. That's the way life is, it's a harsh world and it didn't turn out great for Connor. But it turned out worse for the other 3.
Every time I see Connor and Willa is like Shiv and Tom but way healthier and less toxic. Sure, they both have platonic relationship but they both support each other.
