    Are you in any way associated with a Spanish Channel called DISPERSO? I just watched a video on his channel called SUCCESSION- La maldición de Kendall Roy. In which he (in my bilingual opinion) pretty much translated and copied your video on Kendall (the tragedy of Kendall Roy) I’ve noticed a lot of almost translated (as close as possible to keep coherence of course) points. Even making your 3 main points in the exact same order. Just wanted to let you know and maybe look into it with another bilingual person because maybe I just made some connections where they were none.

I believe she truly does love and care for him, even if it’s not a whirlwind passionate romantic affair. She supports him and stands up for him, as he does with her. Honestly after watching the whole show, it feels crazy to say, but Connor feels like the best adjusted kid. At minimum he knows how to deal with the cards he has. I think the best portrayal of it is when his father died. He turns his father´s death into his marriage day, his loss in the elections to way to start a new life in possibly a new country. While Shiv, Roman and Ken are scrambling their way to losing once again in an endless cycle, he does move forwards even if just a little....he did win a WIlla and even if she does not love him, she respects him and stands by him and that is more than any of the other Roy kids have in their life.

      @danielwisniewski6962 8 месяцев назад +8

      @@HeatherHoltor, possible optional take, he bought the opportunity to earn Willa’s love and respect. Because there is absolutely a shift in how they speak to each other, their body language, all of that, over the course of four seasons that is clearly visible. I think he wouldn’t have earned the opportunity to have her love if he wasn’t rich, but she doesn’t love him because he’s rich. She loves him because he’s rich and took a chance on her work. It bombed, sure, but he didn’t leave. Just like his presidential campaign.

    Brilliant, as always, thank you.
    I posted in another thread that the reason I love Conor so much is because he isn’t needed by the overall story arc or the other characters, and yet he exists. In this context, it was brave of the writers to create him and it was fantastic that HBO bankrolled Alan Rucks salary for what must have been seen as a superfluous character.
    It’s all the more remarkable that Conor makes the very necessary impact he does in an ensemble this strong. I’d watch a Conor Roy standalone show no problem.
    I’m going to make my weekly plea for you to have a look at Mr Inbetween (Disney+). We need this show to be given your observational eye.

    this video really hits the nail on the head. every little detail in the show is a microcosm of one of many larger themes. in this case, every scene or episode or bit of dialogue involving connor illustrates how forgotten and inferior he is portrayed to be. its so consistently well executed that when i watched the episode of connor's wedding, i was just as surprised as the three younger siblings to realize they had forgotten to tell connor about their logan's passing. i had also forgotten, because connor is written in such a way as to be always on the outside of things, forgotten or ignored, even when he is center stage (in this case, the drama of the three siblings on the phone with logan taking place AT CONNOR'S WEDDING). just shows how masterful the writing of succession is.

    Connor hurts my heart so much. It's nice to see him have a healthier marriage than any of the other Roys, even if it's just a supportive one and not out of true love. Also, because he has been interested in politics at a very young age, he has my vote. We're talking about the future president of the United States of America and the First Lady.

    I feel for this dude because he is so pathetic. The writers of this series did a masterful job with Connor, as they did with all the others. I've met several people in my life who were born into very rich families, who went to the best schools, cultured, multi-lingual, but broken in their core because they didn't have the inner force to sculpt their own identity, and thus remained chained to the burden of their family's money and social standing.

    • @ir0n2541
      @ir0n2541 Год назад +4

      Inner force is for poor people who need to lie to themselfs to go to a job they don't like and make the money to survive. Inferiority and lack of identity is subjective. there is not a single wealthy person i know who is not having a blast.

    I think another aspect of Conner's passivity comes from this idea that if Conner is not outwardly belligerent or argumentative or "difficult" the way his mother is, then he will get that love and attention he so craves. However, this couldn't be further from the truth as I believe that Logan's love language is fighting, anger, and general upset. That is clearly demonstrated in his slight smile when Kendall blames the Cruises sexual misconduct on his father. Logan LOVES the fight, he loves kicking the proverbial dog to see if it will come back (maybe this is indicative of loyalty, and that is what his abuse is really about? Receiving loyalty/devotion from his children that he never really got from his own parents?). It's clearer still in how he pits the Roy-Collingwood children against one another, constantly making them fight over the CEO position AKA Daddy's approval. Additionally, as you point out, Conner is effectively an only child, so not only does he not know how to fight (as he never got to "practice" with siblings closer to him in age) and is therefore not useful as a source of fuel or love for Logan.

    Connor was smart enough to know that the only way to win Logan’s games was not to play. That’s why, if you think about it, he’s the happiest of his siblings by the end. He did his own little side thing outside of the power struggle for the company, and he at least had that.
