This season is a love letter to the 80s by the Duffer Brothers. It sums up 1985 brilliantly. Many of us older fans, feel the nostalgia of that time. The mall, the songs, the clothing, and the part time jobs. I liked the character development because they are growing up and there was no way to hide that.
Given that they’re more so 90s kids, it makes me think of my own nostalgia for times I did not entirely take part in. I was an 80s kid, and though I am nostalgic for some aspects about it, I pined for other times as they do for the 80s. That said, they really did their research and put together a great team to recreate the feel of the 80s. Especially the mall scenes. Those hit so hard and so perfectly well done, I could smell the food court, I could feel the pit of my stomach feel unease with the crowdedness of the mall and what they used to be like. The wistful feelings of watching the small town stores fading away and closing up because of them.
@@joeb918 the mall was portrayed perfectly. I was in my late teens -early 20s when malls were the place to be. I just went to one last week and tried to have that feel again. The only thing that felt familiar was the pretzel place.
@laurakali, for me at my local mall it is the video game store. At the location where it sits, it's still a video game store, but no longer the same game company. But I can sort of go into one corner and see back in time to the 80s. In my inner mind I can see the mall as it once was, bustling with so much noise of people, but I also see what it is now, the empty closed store fronts, and the lack of people, the sound of a few footfalls echoing in the emptiness of the place.
Yes and I like that they really added more comedy and continued some in season 4 too
I really enjoyed 4, but season 3 is my favorite :)
There's no denying that season 4 is the best season of Stranger Things (so far, at least), but I happen to love season 3. Especially the Scoops Troop!
Yes and the added comedy and the hunt of Billy and learning about him was good and he does such a good job with his role there is a lot of screaming in season 3 but it's great
Best season, next to season 1. If you’re an 80s/90s kid, you get it.
“Every fathers worst nightmare” you have no idea how real that is
Season 3 is my favorite. Can't wait to see your reaction to the end :)
“They are all grown up, they look different”. Well just you wait.. 😊
So I graduated high school one year ahead of Steve and that was a thing. Formerly hot people not headed to college were suddenly disdained... no longer cool... Also, the older women and the high school boy... standard fantasy stuff in the 80s for the boys (I had a pretty young mom). And in the midwest, long power outages are STILL a thing.
"Steve, what happened to you?" He got kids 😆
I just caught up myself. Loved the whole thing. All the characters were well done in my opinion.
I LOVE s3
i'm happy to read S3 is the fav to many others
Summer is here!!!!!!
I love this season! Can’t wait for more!!🎉
This is probably my favorite season so far, with the exception of one particular plot element.
Could apply to virtually all tv series ever..lol..
Lol yea little Holly is still there
I can't wait to see your reaction to the other episodes!!! 🤩🤩🤩
The only thing that I don't like about this season is how goofy they made hopper.
Fun fact: the show is shot at the same town as the vampire diaries! The store joyce works at is at the same town square as the mystic grill😉
❤❤❤
season 4 is great, intense and super detailed with the larger storyline but for me, season 3 is the best season. I just love everything about season 3. It makes me so happy. lol.
I’m interested if you have watched the 100? I think you would really like it
season 3 is the best season by far and it’s not even close
Nope. There's no progression with the lore in season 3. You learn nothing new in this season. The upside down has zero screen time.
The tonal shift towards comedy and the cheesy Russians under the mall plot is painful to watch. You must be under the age of 13 if you think this season is the best.
Na season 4>>>>>
Season 2>>
Season 4 is the best.. a couple of good new characters in season 3 but there is too much silliness in the plot.. season 4 dives into the full Horror.
I'll never forget seeing Steve in a dumb sailor uniform.
Naw I'll be the dissenting opinion in these comments, I thought season 3 was a tonal shift and lacked the emotional weight of the other seasons. Hopper forgets the emotional growth he went through last season and believability is sacrificed too much for camp and comedy. It was a fun ride, but when season 4 came around it reminded me why I love this show
Teenage hormones shift emotions and also are at times hilariously stupid... this is what this part of the show
encapsulates for some of the characters. the sheriff is perfectly believable (although yes, heightened for comedy) for his reaction, he signed up to be El's dad, he had a daughter before, but not a teenager, it's not something a parent is always prepared for for the first time, not to mention a single parent with emotional baggage.
@@joeb918I see that perspective, for sure. But I did have no idea what Hopper was trying to do with Mike and El. He clearly needed to have a conversation with El, not the two of them together. And I thought he was going to propose some sort of compromise or schedule, but instead it was a demand to stay the hell away from his daughter in the end lol. And he learned from the previous season that El has superpowers and he didn't quite have complete control over her. Then I didn't understand why Mike didn't tell El that Hopper told him to stay away, while still wanting to stay with El. Anyway in the end it was El who ultimately decided to break up the relationship for her own reasons and not Hopper's actions
I didn't hate this season, there's a ton of great moments, but certain characters are going to get shafted or even dumbed down this season that were more prominent in the first 2 season's, while others are going to be greatly improved upon. Though I don't think it's he worst season, it's the weirdest and I fully understand if some fans didn't like it
That’s what I’m saying, there are elements of this season that are really good, and others not so much. I don’t think characters get shafted, they just don’t explore them as much as they could, but you can only do so much with basically what’s less than half a regular season for American television. Overall maybe not as good, but it’s not as terrible as some fans make it to be. It’s like if season 1 is a 10, this is maybe 7.5 or an 8 as a whole, with some episodes being lower and others higher, but according to some it should be 5 or lower which I just don’t understand.
@@joeb918 Another reminder that it's all subjective. Imo, Season 3 is the second best.
i mean some get shafted in season 4 too
season 1 & 2 balanced the main characters the best
though i still do really love 3 & 4, some of the characters just... it's not the best for some of them in terms of paying attention to them/development (i won't say who they are because i guess who lives and dies can potentially be spoilers but it's pretty obvious)
a lot of people hate on season 2 as well but i still think it was very true to characters like season one
What are you talking about? Season 3 is second only to season 4. Then season 1, and finally, season 2.
This season is entertaining but... The lore goes absolutely no where.
You learn nothing new this season. And the tonal shift towards comedy plus the corny "full Russian invasion under the mall" is extremely cheesy. I'm glad the show gets back on track with season 4.
Season 3 is good, but it has a different vibe than the others. Not my favorite. I especially dislike the direction they take Hopper, -- I'm a father, and threatening violence to protect your child's virginity is NOT ok! It's creepy and abusive.
The WORST Season Is Here.
lies
Eh, I could see it as that argued as a whole, but there are some really good elements and story threads and evolution of characters. So I mostly disagree. It’s weaker in some stress, stronger in others.
Minority opinion. Most people love season 3.
Nah.
season 3 is my least favorite too
my least favorite season
